He talked about himself and what is back ground was. I'm a 62 yr old Hawaiian women. Before taking the class I was COVID tested and it was negative. Someone asked about wearing masks with a concealed weapon and he said as long as it's a surgical mask you should be fine. The man that asked was a older white man with a cloth black mask. I asked if my mask was ok? I was wearing a black surgical mask from a dental office John said NO! I asked him what was the difference between the blue one he was wearing and the black one I was wearing! He said he was the teacher and didn't have time to argue the matter! I turned my mask around to the white side and he yelled at me that now I contaminated everyone in class and if I wanted to change my mask I had to do it outside! Even though I told him I was tested negative! So the white guy with the black mask was ok but the brown Hawaiian lady was not ok. So I shut my mouth and didn't ask any other questions after that and took the whole class with out saying another word and got my certificate at the end! Ego!!! John did a great job with the basic pistol course I took to obtain a CCW permit. His insight and perspective helped me understand my responsibilities and prepare myself for concealed carry. The 8 hour CHP class was excellent. John went over every aspect of carrying in a way that was easy to understand, remember and implement. He was thorough yet down to earth and clearly passionate about teaching the average person how to safely carry to protect themselves and those they love. The live fire aspect was incredibly valuable and even though I have shot before I feel more comfortable with my handgun after shooting under John's instruction. Where many other would have done the installation and moved on, John ensured I was completely satisfied with the accuracy of the sights. I was dreading spending several hours in a classroom, but as other reviews have stated - this class is excellent. The time flew by and I learned quite a bit about pistols in general and issues around concealed carry. I didn't think I would want to go for another class beforehand, but I am going to take the intermediate pistol class as well. Class sizes are small which makes it much easier to ask questions and get thorough answers. I was given some great tips that really helped my shooting accuracy while we were at the shooting range. I took the NRA Basic pistol/ CCW class offered at Tactical... I could not have hoped for a better experience. If you or anyone you know is looking for a firearm class (no matter what level experience you have) John from Tactical is the way to go. Seriously, don't even look any further. The class I took was thorough... It was 6 hours, but flew by as if I was sitting there for 40 minutes. John was funny, easy to listen to, welcomed all questions, and most importantly he is extremely knowledgeable. I had a friend who ended up taking another class somewhere else.. the same weekend I took mine at Tactical. I literally could not stop talking about what a great time I had... while my friend ended up skipping the 2nd day of class because it was painfully slow and painfully dry. :( I ended up giving him all of Johns information. ) I don't know what other classes are like, but who cares!!
