Service was fast;however, I was surprised by the price of $33 for 1 pastor burrito, 1 pastor vampirio and 3 tacos. One of my gripe is if a place doesn't list their prices so I'm basing off my knowledges from previous reviews and I had assumed the tacos would be $3 each. But onto the food: Asada taco: beef, chewy and tough but substantial Pastor taco + pastor burrito: the best cut of meat. It was hot when I got it and it was very good. Well marinated. Pollo taco: you can probably skip this, the chicken is a little bit plain and dry Vampirio: similar to a tiny quesadilla. Two crispy tortillas with cheese + meat sandwich in between Overall the place is decent if you're getting the pastor meat. I do like the self service but I wish the price of the items were more transparent

At this point it feels like bait and switch -- why put it on the menu if you never have it? The low rating is mainly for the young lady at the register. She was rude, spent the whole time whispering to a guy who works there and laughing while looking at me. Felt disrespected as a customer. Found Beto's down the street instead. Decent food, decent prices, and they actually serve what's on their menu. Won't be back. 2. Short + Punchy No tripas, lengua, or cabeza. Ever. 4 visits in 7 days. Zero times did they have tripas, lengua, or cabeza. Starting to think the menu is false advertising. Register girl was rude too -- whispering + laughing at me with her coworker/BF the whole time. Beto's down the street has better food, better prices, and no attitude. Go there instead. 3. Balanced but Firm Frustrating experience Food here can be okay when they have it, but the inconsistency is a problem. I came 4 times in one week hoping for tripas, lengua, or cabeza and was told they were out every single time. If you don't carry menu items regularly, take them off the menu. Service also needs work. The teen at the register was whispering to another employee and laughing while taking my order. Made me uncomfortable. Beto's down the street doesn't have these issues -- they stock what they advertise and the service is solid.

The other day he went to El Balcon to grab a shredded chicken burrito for lunch. After a number of bites he bit into a spot that he said tasted like tuna and immediately made him feel sick, and as he was noticing that he realized there was a curved shard of metal in his mouth. We were thinking because of the sudden tuna taste maybe it was part of a tuna can lid that somehow wound up in the shredded chicken container? How? How does that go unnoticed during the making of the burrito? If someone swallowed that it would cause pretty significant internal damage. He brought it to their attention and apparently they just offered him another burrito...um, no thanks. I would've at least asked for my money back but he's a better man than I and just let it go. I get that it's just a fluke and not all the food is gonna have metal in it, but it's more what it says about their quality control, and if it happened once I'm not willing to go back to see if it happens again.

The burrito was below average in size, had meat covering less than half of it, and contained no sour cream. The portion and overall preparation were nowhere near what I would expect when paying for a carnitas burrito. But the most concerning part was the salsa. It had an extremely strong chemical taste and smell that reminded me of Fabuloso or mop/cleaning solution. It was so unpleasant that I genuinely questioned whether something had gone wrong with the preparation or whether the salsa had somehow come into contact with cleaning chemicals. I cannot say what caused it, but the taste was absolutely disgusting and raised a serious food-safety concern for me. This is why consistency and proper food-handling procedures matter. A restaurant can have a great meal one day and a terrible one the next, but customers shouldn't have to wonder whether something that tastes like cleaning chemicals is safe to eat. I hope management takes this seriously and looks into the preparation, storage, and handling of the salsa and other ingredients. If a product tastes or smells strongly enough like cleaning chemicals that a customer is questioning whether it may be contaminated, that is something that should be investigated--not dismissed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this burrito. Poor portion, poor execution, and a salsa that raised legitimate food-safety concerns. Consistency and cleanliness should be non-negotiable in a restaurant.

From the moment we sat down with my young son, Mason made it crystal clear that actually waiting on tables was way below his pay grade. After sitting around for over 30 minutes just waiting for a check while Mason was either nowhere to be found or busy socializing with the rest of the staff, we finally gave up and walked toward the front to just pay upfront. That exact moment Mason floated over to casually ask if we needed anything else. When I said, "Yes, we need the bill--we've been waiting 30 minutes," he helpfully explained that it was my fault for not waving him down to remind him to do his job. I let him know right then and there that he wouldn't be receiving a tip for zero effort. To cap off his stellar professionalism, after getting called out for his non-existent service, he sarcastically called me an "array of sunshine." Tipping is a gratuity, so I'll graciously leave this tip instead: stop getting high on the job and treating patrons as a burden just because you have more than one table to serve. The food was good, but Mason's attempt at waiting tables was a complete joke. Next time, hopefully he can summon the Herculean strength required to hand someone a bill--assuming it doesn't conflict with the high horse he rides around expecting tips for a job he can't even be bothered to do.
