If you're sticking to asada or chicken, that's fine... more lengua and tripa for the rest of us. The lengua is tender and full of flavor, and the tripa is done right. Crispy, satisfying, and not chewy or weird. My tacos came pre-garnished with chopped onion and cilantro, which they confirm when you order. Appreciate the respect. And let's talk about the champurrado. So good, especially on a cooler evening. Comfort in a cup and the perfect post-taco sip. They also have other menu options like burritos, tortas, mulitas, and quesadillas if tacos aren't your thing (but honestly, get the tacos). They usually add sliced cucumbers and limes on the side, and you'll get one salsa by default, so if you like it saucy, just ask for more. The cashier was friendly, and they call out your number pretty quickly. This is a takeout, stand-on-the-sidewalk kind of spot and that's exactly how it should be. There are a couple tables and chairs if you want to eat on the fly. Street parking only. If you're craving legit street tacos and aren't afraid to order off the "non-basic" menu, this one's for you.

Lots of big smiles from them and me too :) Thank you guys. I wish you nothing but success!

Love that their menu has expanded or maybe i just had not stopped by in a minute…read more i love the street tacos, always great amount of meat in each with that double corn tortilla thats always a hit with me. Their corn tortillas are the best on a street taco. although not handmade they are thick so your taco don't crack and just makes the taco great. Their hard-shell shredded beef taco has always been a good choice for me. the crunch is there and the meat is always soft and seasoned. this weekend i went and tried a side of FRENCH FRIES, these were good, so im sure the Asada Fries will taste just as great. you have to have a great sturdy fry... these fries are thick and evenly cooked. the Questobirrea taco was also a hit the meat was well seasoned and juicy not dry. Also, got some cornburritos on this visit and ordered the 6 pk. they were so flavorful. Sauce upon request. mine was light. now open on sundays for the summer...! the customer service is always a plus!!! great job guys. if you don't like the food, well at leased you supported a good caused as this truck is run by a men's program.

I ordered a Quesa Mulita de Asada and a Torta de Pollo…read more The mulita was delicious. So flavorful, nice and crispy tortillas and filled with lots of asada. The salsa roja was slightly spicy and worked very well with this mulita. There was lots of love put in to this one and I really enjoyed it. The torta was pretty big and the bread was hearty enough to hold the filling and soft enough to know it was fresh. The filling was fresh but the chicken didn't really have a lot of flavor. Actually, the whole sandwich was kinda bland. I think the chicken needed some more seasoning, some more pop, to let you know it was there. I almost thought there wasn't much chicken in there, but I think there was plenty - it just blended in too much to taste it. I had some salsa verde on the side and added that to a few bites and that helped out a lot. The salsa verde wasn't spicy, but it did have a lot green chile flavor which made it very tasty. The winner today was the quesa mulita. I'd definitely come back for that and maybe even experiment with some other meats.

Tacos used to be affordable, especially if I'm eating them in a dark alley. Overpriced and nada especial. Too many people working in the taco truck, maybe that's why it's so expensive?

It took me a while to muster up enough courage to try another taco truck in Oxnard. Time and time…read moreagain I have been disappointed with mediocre tacos and while these might not be the best tacos in the world, the guy running it does deserve some recognition. To start off, tacos a vapor, as the name states it are steamed tacos where the meat is cooked in a steamer versus any frying or grilling. There is still a lot of technique that goes into this, but the outcome is a delicious surprise of texture and flavor. Having said that, it is not every day where you find a place like this that does it right. El Mocho has proved to me on several occasions now, that he knows how to cook and present the steamed taco in a way that is enjoyable and tasty. He always offers his guests a simple but tasty appetizer that consists of some tortilla chips, beans, and a drop of his tasty salsa. Who does that anymore? I mean not even restaurants offer you a complimentary appetizer anymore. It's not much but the mere fact that this guy on a taco truck does, speaks volumes to his character and drive to succeed in such a competing market. The main reason I was there was for the cabeza (head) tacos. It is so hard to find decent cabeza anywhere these days, most people don't really know how to cook it let alone make it good. Tacos El Mocho does a great job at it, and it comes out tasting delicious, reminds me of home. The other good options are Lengua, Labio and surprisingly the Asada is also tasty. The truck is a cash only business and tacos run for 3 bucks a pop. A little steep in my opinion but the flavor makes up for the cost. Keep in mind, the tacos a vapor come out hot! So, unless you want a 1st-2nd degree burn in your mouth, give it a few seconds before shoving them in your mouth, I made that mistake once already :( The truck is hard to miss, he is parked on a side street parallel to Oxnard Blvd. right in front of Smart and Final and Burger King. If you like the more "exotic" meat options in your tacos, give Tacos El Mocho a try, you will not regret it.

Service has been quick all the times I've ordered here and they all seem nice and approachable. They do not sell horchata here at the time this review is being written, jfyi. I recommend this taco truck. :-)

I have driven by this location and the Santa Paula one many times but this was my first visit…read more I was surprised that when there is Carnitas in the name, expect pork as the only meat! They offered Cabeza (meat from the head of a pig). So they have that if you are into that. If you are going to this place with someone that doesn't eat pork, they are pretty much going to be limited to eating rice and beans. I ordered a carnitas burrito. They put rice, beans, cilantro, onion and your choice of salsa mild or hot. I chose the mild salsa. I also got a side of chips. The price is hard to beat. We paid $31 for 2 carnitas burritos and 2 sides of chips. They have a salsa bar but they do not provide to-go salsa containers. They provide paper cup dipping cups for dine-in. You can buy their salsas to go but those will cost $4-6. However; they were nice to give us a to-go food box and we piled our paper cup salsas in it to prevent it from spilling. The staff was friendly, quick and they made us huge burritos! It's all I ate for the day because I was so full. The carnitas was top notch! Juicy and flavorful.
