The place is a located in a shopping center and it's a Spanish bakery, store and taco shop. You can buy all your Spanish household and food items here! The taco shop is in the corner of the store. The man was nice and working by himself in the kitchen. The food was well seasoned and home made. We'll absolutely be back!

There's a fresh meat counter in the back "carniceria" with a pretty great selection of meats both marinated and not. To the left of the meat counter is the restaurant. There was a little language barrier and we had no direction on how to order or where to order but we made it happen. Being from California I am a little familiar with some Spanish words and most foods so I knew what I wanted. On one side of the menu there are also English descriptions of the dish. See placed our order with the nice lady at the register and found ourselves a seat. The restaurant had a constant flow of customers shell we were there so we felt great about what we were going to get. We ordered the quesabirrias, carnita tacos, and a barbacoa burrito. As well as an orange Fanta bottle in Mexico. (That real sugar and fancy glass bottle makes a difference) The carnita tacos were ready first and OMGSHH they had me doing a little happy dance. The carnita was juicy, tender, salty, with all the wonderful bits of fat and pork skin. Add to that the homemade tortillas, anddd then the homemade salsas. I still think of those tacos... Second the quesabirrias came out. I'm not big on ordering trending foods but since this is a dish I make regularly for my family I like to try other's take on it. The tacos were made with the homemade tortillas. This time double wrapped to prevent them from breaking apart. Honestly this dish was just okay for me. Loved the tortillas but the barbacoa, though tender, was actually pretty dry. There also wasn't a crazy amount of cheese so that didn't make a difference. The tacos definitely needed dipping in the consume. Which was also okay. Not the worst I've had but not the best. Didn't receive the dried arbor pepper but I did add some of the chili oil they had and it was a great addition. I love spicy foods and it was perfect for me. Not too spicy and adds a little smokiness. But we warned it may be too spicy for most. The burrito was probably the most disappointing. It was yummy though filled with mostly rice and very little protein. My husband got it with barbacoa which after having the birria tacos we realized was dry so that didn't help. What did help were to add some of all the great sauces they had. Next time we will try it with another protein and probably stay away from the barbacoa even though it's usually one of our favorites. Of course we also grabbed some chicharron before we left because they looked amazing. We usually have a local place we liked to get ours but they looked great at this location we couldn't help ourselves. I can't wait to go back to try more of their entrées and my husband their ceviche!

These were as good as I found that speedy burrito, but they were a couple of price points higher, which I have to consider. I tend to run the Speedy burrito as their tacos are under four bucks and a bit more selection, but this is a great place, family, friendly, would probably sit and eat in here next time. Highly recommend.!!!!

As it being our first time, we were a little confused if we needed to wait for someone to seat us or not. There was no workers around..Then I saw a sign pointing to where we needed to order. (No table service, Smokey Gringo is counter service). We ordered 2 kids meal chicken quesadillas, 4 tacos, 2 empanadas, a side of corn, and 2 additional fountain drinks. My total was about $80. The tacos were ok, they were lacking flavor. When I picked up my carne asada taco there was so much liquid dripping onto my tray, but sadly it tasted a little overcooked. The empanadas were huge but dry, even though there was sauce drizzled all over it. The chips were nice and crispy. ** Street parking is available. There was also a small parking lot across the street. Smokey Gringo offers both outdoor and indoor seating. We choose to sit inside. Their prices are pretty high for the little amount of food you get.

You know what they say fresh fish dies not smell. Decor has not changed. Started with a sangria and bread service. So many places are charging for bread but if you're going to charge me it better be good. Yall know I will pay for good food and service. When the bread came out there was 5 pieces of some sort of loaf bread that had been warmed. The menu said ciabatta bread and when I pointed it out to the waitress she said they didn't have it anymore. I said that's the only reason we ordered it was because it was a ciabatta bread. She just said sorry. Yall know if you follow my reviews I used to own a restaurant and it's misrepresented on the menu, What else is misrepresented? We ordered the wedge to share which was ok. I ordered the cod and my husband ordered the sirloin top cap and asked for it between med rare and med. My small piece of cod was overcooked, rice cold, plantains bitter and tortilla was hard and tasteless. My husbands sirloin was well and we think they mixed up the orders and it was TOUGH. Chewy and no salt. My cod was tasteless. We finished quickly to get out of there. 140.00 for a waste of a Saturday night. Could go anywhere better. We will no longer be back.

But then there is Doughnut World, this small little hole in the wall going into downtown Winder that we had passed the strip mall it's tucked in several times but didn't pay it any mind because we weren't looking for breakfast or donuts so didn't think much of it. But yesterday we were so we popped in here to check it out. They have a great variety of all the ones you expect (glazed, Boston cream, etc) plus some features like Fresh Strawberries & Cream and Dubai Chocolate Cronuts which are double stacked donuts with filling in the middle, like donut sandwiches. I cannot speak highly enough of the pillowy perfection of the donuts themselves. They have just enough sweetness but not overbearing and they aren't dense like Dunkin or air like Krispy Kreme that just disappears in your mouth. Don't get me wrong, I like both but the donuts at Doughnut World are in a league of their own. They aren't cakey, and they aren't like puff pastry, they are fluffy with just the right balance of soft to dense. It's hard to explain. You just gotta try for yourself. If I had to choose the perfect donut, this is it. We bought a half dozen to try: glazed (of course), two Boston creams, because of course (to which my cousin remarked that's the best she'd ever had), lemon, strawberry or raspberry (I just pointed and said "that one" lol) not sure but it was delicious, and a caramel with bacon? More labels in the display case would certainly help and if the owner reads this I do advise for this reason. The star of the show was the Strawberries and Cream Cronut without a doubt. It was perfection and I would go back just for this. It was the perfect balance of donut, strawberry and cream in which each flavor and texture came through into such a delicate and delicious treat! We did try a kolache that the pastry was perfect but I didn't care much for the filling, just personal preference. It was fine but just not my thing. I was there for the sweets! I'm glad I tried it but I would opt for a different savory pastry next time. We didn't order any drinks but they have a nice variety of teas and here you can get all the variety of like matcha, boba, Thai, chai, etc that are all the rage these days so I'll have to give some of those in future visits. If you haven't checked this place out you won't be disappointed. The lady working behind the counter was super sweet and helpful and even tossed in a few donut holes for us. As we were walking out the people were pouring in from the parking lot so I don't think this place is a secret, perhaps more of a little hidden gem right on the little outskirts of downtown Winder.
