We learned about the murals and graffiti with respect to the business owner and neighborhood perspectives and we explored a few of the shops in the business district. Marjorie arranged for the tour to enjoy beverages and food samplings from several establishments, one of which was Pinot Wine Bar. Danny, the owner and local resident, owned early for our group and gave an impromptu wine class while we sipped wine paired with cheese & meat samplings. A very knowledgeable and generous business owner! I completely enjoyed spending my Saturday morning walking and talking and learning about this special neighborhood. At first I was a little nervous but our "chauffeur" Matias made me feel really comfortable and we had the best time. All the cool places he took us and all the knowledge he had about the different locations were amazing. I learned so much about the area I had been coming to since the 70's! We had a blast waving to everyone we saw along the way. You just can't help but wave and talk to people when you're in this awesome sidecar motorcycle. Most people smiled and waved back at us. We were given menus to look over and made our choices. We were served chips and salsa while we waited for our food and the chips were nice and thick and crispy. The salt was a bit different. It was more blended than I expected. I would've preferred small chunks of tomato chili and onions and to see a little bit of cilantro in there, but the salsa was not bad. We went with; Carne Asada burrito grilled to a crispy golden brown. Also ordered the two taquitos which is a crispy rollup taco with chicken, lettuce, tomato cheese, and guacamole. Our drinks, we ordered ice water with lemon wedges and one Horchata. The Horchata was huge enough, for two people. A little bit on the sweet side, but just added a little bit of water and it made it perfect.
