Located on a corner, The Parian, is a locals restaurant. You walk into a fiesta of a restaurant. Brightly decorated with typical Mexican decoration-think bright pinks, yellows and greens. There's colorful paper cut outs (papel picado)strewn across the ceiling, windows everywhere and colorful walls. I've been here twice & both times it was busy but not overwhelming. Walked in both times without having to wait for a seat to open up. The menu is typical of what you would see in a Mexican restaurant--and no, avocado toast ain't on the menu. Menudo, chilaquiles, hot cakes, machaca con huevo. These heavy & oh so delicious meals are all here. The tortilla (flour and corn) are both made in house. The salsa and chips they set when you first arrive are authentic. This is the kind of food that'll make you want to take nap after, it's so heavy. Only downside is they don't have cafe de olla. But that's not a bad thing, there's an amazing coffee shop down the street from the restaurant (Xcaanda) :) Definitely a gem in Ensenada & one that I will continue to visit.

The people working were very kind, attentive, and fun. The cook had such an amazing personality! The food came out quick and was able to order more without waiting. They brought out freshly fried tortillas to snack on with salsa. There were salsas already out on the table, all were delicious. I ordered a margarita and a shrimp taco. The taco was so good that I ordered another as soon as I finished eating it. My friend had a bottled mineral water and a fish taco. She ordered a shrimp taco after and said it was delicious but the fish was even better. The tacos are traditional baja style beer battered fish and shrimp. They come on flour tortillas but I requested corn for mine. The prices were phenomenal for what we got! 35 pesos ($2) for shrimp tacos, 45 pesos ($2.60) for fish tacos, 160 pesos ($9.30) for margaritas! The only reason I took one star off has nothing to do with the service or taste of the food. There were people constantly come up trying to sell things or beg for money. It's difficult to enjoy a meal while being bothered like that. Also, the salsas are just left on the table for the next person who sits down. Back home theres no way I would even touch it. I ate it of course and loved it, but it still kinda threw me off. The location is right next to the fish market in an alley. It was kind of a scummy looking area, but still worth it.
