Let me first say the portions are great and the woman working the window was very nice. Unfortunately, I just was not impressed by the overall flavor of the tacos. Maybe it's just me, but these were very different from other taco joints I have frequented. Locally and out of town. The Biiria tacos had a texture and flavor more like a pot roast, the Al Pastor were probably the best out the bunch, but still just OK in my opinion. The chicken had a strange spice in it, I can't put my finger on what it was, but I didn't particularly like it. I didn't try the fried pork tacos personally.

I've gotten more chips at other Mexican restaurants and paid the same price. I think y'all should note that in the description so customers can decide if they want that or not. The guacamole didn't even taste fresh; it was almost as if it came from a bag. Not a hint of lime, cilantro, or onion. I was very turned off by this. Any time I get tacos, I'll get Al Pastor. These Al Pastor were a bit on the sweeter side. I've never had ones like these, and mine had a bit more fat in them. We did get seated at a table with a bunch of chips on the floor that we said we were okay with, but the tables do kind of feel on top of each other, especially if it's a busy night like First Friday or something going on in town. My friends and husband said the food was alright. We just couldn't get over the lousy plate of chips and guacamole

There was a bright cilantro sauce, a spicy one that was pleasantly mild, and a mayo-ketchup blend that rounded things out nicely. The tacos were delicious and packed with flavor. We were excited to try the horchata, but they'd sold out by the time we ordered. I think it would be worth asking about early if you're set on trying it. The space itself is open and inviting, with a mix of bar seating and high-top tables. The food also came out pretty quickly.

I didn't see an alcohol menu so I took a chance and grabbed a bottle of wine to take along. It was busy enough on a Friday evening but not a full restaurant. Too busy for one server doing all front of house duties though. I don't think this restaurant or the last occupant have done anything to the interior space although there were less tables in the lower dining room. The menu is large but not descriptive. On a day when the server isn't getting slammed I get the feeling that he'd love to offer verbal descriptions but during our visit it was not going to happen. Anyway, on to the food which was all quite good. The sauces were the star for me. Birria empanadas (GF) were excellent. That Birria consommé was worth the entire trip! The carnitas tacos were flavorful with generous portions. The mofongo platter was huge. Needless to say, we have enough leftovers for another few meals. It's worth a visit.
