Stopped by today and found out they have happy hour from 2-5. Their house margaritas are only $5, which is honestly a great deal for a taco spot. Definitely some of the best margaritas I've had in Surprise! Luciana was behind the bar making the drinks and she was seriously hilarious. She recommended the suadero and chicharron tacos and they did not disappoint. She also told me I HAVE to try the machete next time because apparently it's one of the best things on the menu. If you come here, get your margarita with chamoy!! I've had chamoy in margaritas before, but the one they use here was sooo good. So far, this is easily one of my favorite taco spots in Surprise. It doesn't feel like another generic "Mexican restaurant" -- the food actually tastes authentic. I've been here three times and really wanted to like this place, especially since I was hoping to find a great taco spot here in Surprise. Unfortunately, the food has been disappointing. The pollo asado taco was very salty, and both the pollo and carne tacos I ordered were extremely greasy--from the meat all the way down to the corn tortillas. My family and I visited this location this past Tuesday for a family evening out after the movies. We saw online that they offer 15% off street tacos all day on Tuesdays, along with happy hour from 2-6 PM on select drinks, which made it an easy choice. When we arrived, parking was convenient since it's located in a plaza surrounded by other businesses and restaurants. However, once we walked in, we were a bit surprised that no one greeted us. We stood there for a while looking over the menu, and still no acknowledgment, which felt a little off. Eventually, someone came up to the counter to take our order. We ordered several carne asada tacos, one breaded steak taco, and refried beans. The food was decent, but the steak was noticeably drier compared to what we're used to at the other location we usually visit. The margaritas were okay, nothing particularly memorable. Although this location is newer and larger, the overall experience didn't quite match up to the consistency and service we've had before. My husband and I decided to give it a try. The staff were friendly and there were a lot of people there for a Monday evening. The price was pretty good and the place was clean with a fun vibe. We wanted tacos so gave those a try. Here is my husband's assessment (he is a southern Cali guy so he knows tacos): 1. Birria- flavorful and moist. 2. Asada- good but a little salty. 3. Heard lots of great things about this spot, so I finally gave it a try today. The food wasn't quite what I expected based on the reviews--I think I may have set my expectations too high. That said, this place has a lot of potential but could definitely use some improvement in food quality and the menus. The salsa bar should also be kept stocked at all times or checked on more frequently. The place is new, so it's clean and looks fine. Service was quick, good overall. The manager didn't seem very welcoming or friendly.. maybe not clocked in, not sure. I ordered the al pastor and tripa tacos. The al pastor was average. The tripa, however, was bitter and chewy, with a mushy interior, likely due to insufficient cleaning. I also got a mango margarita, it wasn't too sweet, it's decent. I like the green salsa! I have no idea what a Chilango is, but I don't care. This taco shop is amazing! Obviously it's new to the area and I've been wanting to try it for a minute finally today I had the opportunity. I've heard the queso Birria was really good and I can confirm it's probably the best queso birria I've had so far, anywhere! The place is super clean and the people working there were really friendly and talkative. I had a nice conversation with them and I can't wait to go back and it has been such a long time since I've said that. So I had two queso Birria tacos with the consume, a large quesadilla and a large Jamaica. I'm not gonna lie. It was a little pricey, but well worth it. and I don't even know if it's fair to say that this place is pricey, but that cost me almost 30 bucks but that was with tip. OK, so the taco itself without the consummae was absolutely delicious and very cheesy. Lots of melted cheese in there and then the consumae (even AutoCorrect can't spell it so whatever) is so good in calling it, "Oh my God consumeeeaie". I did sample the green and red salsa. Both are really good and thankfully different from every other taco shop in the area. They also have sliced cucumbers, the onions and cilantro mix, and limes, and there was a creamy sauce that I did not try. Anyway, this place is amazing. I cannot wait to go back!! When this spot first opened, the quality of the tacos was fantastic. I often go for the Al pastor because it was so good. They had a trompo right behind them that they prepared the meat on and it was so good. Now they just heat it up Over a pan or griddle with an excessive amount of grease. The tortillas are always greasy as hell now too. So gross. They just buy the meat from the carneceria and heat it up. You can tell because it's ground instead of sliced. These tacos are legit! They give you two tortillas with each taco, so don't waste the extra one--double stack it! The brisket beef is straight fire, and the tripas are crispy just how they're supposed to be. Everything was packed with flavor. Definitely coming back for more! Right when we walked in we were greeted with smiles. It was a lot larger inside than I anticipated. They also offer seating outside. I already knew we were ordering birria tacos before we walked in, but added a asada taco plus a horchata and hibiscus drink. The food was horrible. First everything was bland there was no seasoning in our food. The cheese and meat tasted like it was cooked in a microwave. I was told the Queso Taco has the queso cheese which is different than the other cheese in tacos.... It was not if you look at the picture it looks like the same cheese on everything else. The guacamole was extremely spicy. None of this tasted like authentic food. We called the manager to see if we could get a refund and the manager was nice she listed to us said they would see what they could do and she apologized. Then I got a call from the Owner who asked what was wrong when I was explaining to to him our experience he continuously interrupted to to let me know their food is always good, he has never heard this type of review, the food is seasoned and marinated (look at my top sirloin taco and tell me it looks seasoned), they are one of the top rated restaurants in the area. This place is clean and has great customer service. When you go be sure to get the green avocado hot sauce from the salsa bar, it's a little spicy but sooooo good! We went to this location for the first time and this place was delicious. I ordered 2 chicken street tacos and 2 birria tacos. The meat on the chicken was very well seasoned. The birria tacos were just right for my liking. Not too juicy and I loved the taste. Even had a left over taco and brought it home to my daughter and she loved it. First time here. Good location in the back of a new strip mall on Bell just off Litchfield. I was surprised how big the place is ... it has a bar and lots of tables. Their kitchen is huge. This was a go to spot for my wife and I up until about a week ago. In the beginning when they opened the food was amazing and unfortunately just started lossing quality as time passed. Instill went back wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt but this last time did it for me. I had ordered 3 tacos de tripa and unfortunately got not 1 but 2 rocks in my tacos which also caused one of my molars to chip due to the rock. I immediately brought it up to the staff and who I believe is the owner and did nothing about it. He proceeded to blame who ever cleans the meat. Not 1 apology and not a single offer to give me something different to eat. I ended up leaving the tacos and threw them away. Really expected more from them after and incident like that. read more
