The problems outlined go well beyond a "small deviation." One side of the roof had to be removed and redone up to the peak because the shingles were not installed correctly, and rotten sheathing was initially left in place until I pointed it out. Debris during construction is expected, but the issue was that it remained in my driveway for months afterward. Regarding the balance owed, there was no confusion on my end--only on yours, which I also had to point out before it was corrected.

The parent company, West Coast Metal Building , is in Salem, Oregon. They operate in Washington, Oregon, CA and other north west states. They don't hold their reps accountable. I called Pierce County Handyman for reinstalling 4 outside corner sections of baseboard and adjusting 2 transition pieces that had been installed improperly previously. They scheduled me for a visit about a week later so an estimate could be provided. Then a day before the scheduled visit, they asked to reschedule it due to a personal reason. I agreed to reschedule. They showed up on the second appointment and provided me with a service quote and a proposed service date. I got back to them 2 days later confirming the service and was informed the previously proposed date was no longer available. They then proposed a new date in the morning which I agreed to it. 1 day before their schedule service date, they call asking to reschedule from morning to afternoon, which I also agreed to. Then on the date of service, they texted me 2 hours before their scheduled start time to attempt to reschedule for a different date. I let them know that I had made plans for the work to be done that day and that if not possible, then to cancel the whole thing. They weren't able to come out and the service was canceled at my request. A total of 3 weeks and a half went by with multiple service days agreed to and subsequently rescheduled on Pierce County Handyman's request. In the end, no work was done...

He always had great suggestions and guidance throughout the process and the results show. I've already asked him to do more work, and recommend him to every friend who says they're doing anything on their house.

The remodel mostly went okay to start with, but issues started to crop up over time. The people doing the actual work didn't follow the architectural diagrams at first and a lot of work had to be redone (making the process take a lot longer than it should have) and there was a clear lack of communication amongst the crew. Some of the mistakes being made were quite egregious, as well, and would have made the kitchen completely unusable if I hadn't caught them. In the end the job was never quite finished (my over-fridge cabinet had to be redone) and Alec kept on making excuses for not wanting to do the last little bit. A year later I finally hired someone else to finish the job. The final results were good but there were definitely a lot of headaches along the way, mostly due to lack of oversight and miscommunications.

We contracted with him in September 2019 to remodel our condominium including the kitchen and bathrooms. He verbally estimated the job at 4 months; it took a full year to complete. Some of the delay was due to Washington State shutdown due to COVID, but the project should have been done long before the shutdown in late March. After I had paid him in full for the contract and for all the change orders, Alec said he was out of money and walked off the uncompleted job in late July 2020. I had to complete the remodel myself at substantial additional cost. As examples of his incompetence, we interviewed an electrician to start in November 2019. Alec wanted someone cheaper so 7 months were lost with 3 different electricians installing, repairing, and redoing the work. Alec gave poor supervision; the workmen didn't follow the architect's drawings so after the cabinets and appliances arrived it was discovered the kitchen island was mismade. It had to be partially torn out and rebuilt. After we moved in we discovered the hot water to the washing machine did not work. A wall had to be opened to find a valve that had been left in the "off" position before the wall was closed. Worst of all Alec refused to pay one of the subcontractors and directed him to us. The subcontractor threatened a lien against us since Alec couldn't or wouldn't pay him. This should be a big warning to subcontractors as well. I should have paid attention to Stephanie C's review. If I could do a negative star rating I would.
