We're unsure what Taco Tico changed in their meat, but it hasn't agreed with me in two months. Plus, their taco shells are thin compared to their competitors'. The last time, I had to go to the restroom immediately. Maybe it's not the meat; it could be cross-contamination. Since I'm highly allergic to fish, perhaps they're cross-contaminating their utensils. I can't figure it out, but I can't risk getting sick again. So, no more Taco Tico for us. read more

I decided to give Taco Tico another try since they're temptingly close to me every weekday. This time I tried the Deluxe Nachos with chicken instead of beef... holy smokes! What a change. The chicken looked and tasted as such and the nachos were delicious. It is a huge amount for $7 ish dollars. I have been going more frequently now especially because of their drive thru, which is perfect for the chilly weather. Lastly, their service is still amazing, just wish they had Apple Pay or chip readers. read more

Whatever it is that you guys have done to them crispy taco shells... keep that shit up. I ordered a 10 pack tonight, thinking I was going to toss at least 3 or 4....... I ATE ALL TEN OF THEM SHITS.. They were crispy as hell and, being used to the sometimes stale and almost chewy corn shells, I was pleasantly surprised with a light, crispy, and delicious taco shell that complimented and balanced the overall structural integrity of the whole taco.. no crumbs, no bottom splitting, no ingredients shooting all over the place.. these guys are making a good taco now. A few weeks ago I ordered from Taco Bell, when it got here it was cold and mushy some of the food was missing. I called them and they blamed it on the driver. I told her that the bag was sealed she said her manager said she could anything. Tonight I got taco tico it came hot and crunchy they were delicious! I will always go to taco tico! read more

Dont get me wrong, I love Taco Tico's food. I'm gonna complain about the inside of the only one left in town! This has happened the last two times we have been there. Not close to closing but one young lady last night came out with her sprays cleaning the table tops and the window dividers on top of the booths where we happened to be sitting. My food is there while she is at our booth. Mind you we are the ONLY two in that place. She's spraying and wiping to where my food could have been contaminated with the chemicals. Then out comes the purple fabuloso! I think it was straight and not cut with water at all. The floor kinda looks like carpet but rubbery. She is drowning the floor with it the smell is so disgusting and strong that's all I could taste. It was about to make me sick! She comes right up to the table beside my sister and I and starts mopping. I told my sister let's go outside and finish eating so then she looks at us like what? My sis tells her we are getting out of your way. Don't you know the minute we sat down and started eating here she came to the tables outside! Again we are the ONLY two outside! Started wiping down two tables. THIS HAD TO BE ON PURPOSE! I understand the workers have to clean but come on! It's not close to closing the sauce contrainers were gone. we Finished and was taking our trays back inside the floor was shining wet with that stinky stuff. Looked like some one just dumped buckets of water on the floor. There was a family in there at this time. They were walking oh so carefully. This is not acceptable. The workers need to wait until they are closed before they start cleaning. Your customers are valuable and without us you would not exist! Some one is going to slip and fall and then no more taco tico because they will be sued! Please do better! read more

Was in Pimlico Taco Tico yesterday. Ordered some soft tacos. I was completely floored by what I was given. One of the tacos had beef on one side. The others had about a 1/4 of the beef the first one had. I ate one of the tacos and the tortilla was cold. I opened up the next one and audibly laughed out loud. I went ahead and opened the other 3 and they were just as bad. I decided to take them up to the counter to show the worker standing there and ask what was up with these tacos. It seriously looked like the guy in the back didn't feel like getting another container of beef and just portioned what he had at the bottom of the pan in front of him. The guy at the counter said, " that's our normal portion" and I told him I eat there regularly and that those tacos were about half if not less than what I normally get. He told me to hold on. He went back in the kitchen and got a cup of taco meat. I'm standing there thinking is this really happening as he walks back and starts scraping the beef out of the cup onto the tacos that are sitting on my tray that I sat in the counter. At this point I'm just not believing what I'm seeing and just turn around and start walking out. As I'm at the door he yells across the room "so you want these to go?" Seriously?!?! I'm 52 years old and have been patronizing taco tico since I was a kid growing up in Versailles Ky. To be honest I primarily go in for nostalgias stake. The quality is hit or miss anymore and.guess you can see it in the fact they opened up a couple more stores and now back to 1. Cold taco shells and tortillas. Portion amounts wildly different from stop yo stop. Then to have an employee make a remark like that when they obviously knew what they were doing wasn't fixing but exacerbating the situation. When all I said was "man I don't normally complain about food but these tacos are a bit lackluster." Then to scrape beef from a cup and watch it just falling all over the 4 opened tacos? It has been many a year since I've partaken of this establishment. The last one I saw, closed years ago in Jeffersonville and I didn't know they still existed. I've known they were around in Lexington for awhile so I decided to check them out for lunch today. Service inside was super fast. I ate inside and the dining room was clean including all of the table tops. I ordered a Single Cheese Enchilada, a Single Beef Enchilada, and a Crispy Corn Beef Taco. The taco was good but the Bell's are better. I like this place because they have enchiladas and the Bell does not. The beef enchilada was excellent. The cheese enchilada was a tad cold on the inside. read more

Amazing customer service. Was greeted as soon as I walked through the door and asked how my day was. I didn't get the young mans name but he had longer hair. Sept 27 at 11:00 am is when he was working but whoever that young man is deserves a raise. I haven't even tried the food but had to leave a good review he was very polite had a smile on his face and a positive personality. read more

Overall really great experience. I had the fish tacos combo, which were really tasty. I would prefer less of the crema but it was good and had a refreshing amount of lime. TT reminds me of the hard times I experienced in my college days. Sometimes a bad/ bland experience is a good thing. It helps us appreciate the 'good life'. The core of the problem is the beef. Reminded me of room temp wet dog food. The taco shells were also stale and malleable. It went down a star because now, apparently, you cannot buy solo margaritas. I ordered one today and I HAVE TO buy something food related. This jacked up my budget from like $7 to like $10.34! I spent like $2.75 on a NEW! Carnita. It was damn tasty, BUT I did not necessarily want one on this visit. I just wanted a margarita. Also, I could go to Taco Bell and order like 2, $1 items for the price of one Carnita. -_-. Since when does one have to buy something else with a beverage? What if I bought like 2 margaritas ($14) value when they want me to buy a food item? They just lost like $3 there because they had to charge me for a food item instead of giving me exactly what I want. 11/6/20 I finally caved and went to this establishment, especially whenever I'd drive by and see the building have cars wrapped around it. So naturally I over ordered, as I wanted to try a variety of their tacos. I asked the cashier what she would recommend and to my surprise she recommended the chicken quesadilla. Which was the best dish that I tried out of everything else I got. I also ordered their chicken and beef tacos, crunchy and soft varieties. This is where the disappointment led me to this rating. The tacos were bland, barely warm, and the shells were stale. The salsa was similar to a jar of Prego. Just disappointing, when I could've had better at Taco Bell or a taco truck up the road. I've tried many tacos all over the world, and this is hands down the worse of them all. Maybe I'll give them a try one more time, but I won't be ordering multiple tacos in case it's still just as terrible. I would however recommend their chicken quesadilla, and to always ask their employees working there for their recommendations since they clearly know what's happening behind those closed doors. read more

I finally made it to Taco Tico. I ordered two soft tacos with a side of hot sauce and took them to a table outside to eat. These are tacos in a pinch, and by no means autentico. Lettuce tomato and cheese aren't the makings of real stree tacos, which I prefer, and the meat lacked their distinct flavor. A drive through and plenty of parking. Look, this restaurant just needs better food. The place is fine, but the food was bland. What the heck is that hot sauce, just tomato sauce and ground up black pepper? No seasoning on the taco meat. NONE. Forget all the sauce, at this point bring your own. Should just bring your own spice because there ain't none and the ground meat is the consistency of dry refried beans. Me and my parents came here and ate after we went painting. We had 3 main meals, a desert, 3drinks, and 2 orders of chips and pico for $28. They did not have salsa so they need to get some. I have been procrastinating going here cuz every time I go past it line is long! Now I know why. Had to sit for a bit when first got in line, but then it started moving along. This is an oddity for me- I am writing a review that is almost all positive. so I ordered online at grub hub and my wife went to pick it up- she said the guy who waited on her was really nice. Now to the most important part- when I place an order online I ask for sauces on side and paid for extra meat (we talking 30 tacos/20 chicken and 10 beef) and I have very very rarely ever got extra meat when I pay for at the other taco ticos or even at Taco Bell- heck sometimes I can count like 4 lil pieces meat on a taco- so much so that I have to use 2 tacos to make one good taco. hence the number of tacos for me and my son. WELL to my surprise these tacos had what I call almost 2 normal good tacos of meat on them (which should be the standard)- and I could only eat 6 of them. now thats sorta amazing cuz I love tacos and when I eat them I over indulge myself. I cant brag on them enough for the way my order looked when I got it. Nice and thanks. So we are in the midst of this Covid 19 pandemic and the amount of restaurant food I have had has been curtailed greatly, so it is possible that I could have been served dirt and rocks and still considered it delicious just because I was glad to be out. With that caveat I LOVED my visit to Taco Tico. I remember when I first went to Taco Bell years ago, I ordered a cheese enchilada and they did not know what I was asking for. I proceeded to argue with the counter girl for 5 minutes. Alas no cheese Enchilada at Taco Bell. I was raised on Cheese Enchiladas at Taco Tico. Soooooooo glad to get one tonight. The spices on the enchilada seem to be slightly more spicy than in the 1970s -1980s but it was still good. The restaurant was new and clean but that was just on the outside. Due to the pandemic only the drive thru was open. Got a six pack of Tacos. Could not eat them all. They were really good. The wait staff was clean and friendly. Cant wait to come back. So glad to See Taco Tico growing back into the force it once was in Lexington. With a Pimlico location now open and another soon to open on Southand Drive, I'll be able to satisfy my cravings without having to drive to the North side of town! If you grew up with Taco Tico, you'll find the flavors familiar and comforting and quite preferable to Taco Bell. If you didn't grow up with them, well then I feel for you. Because Taco Tico is really delicious in a simple, down home sort of way. I picked up a six pack of tacos today. The tacos are pretty small, so it's easy to down quite a few of them. I paired those with a double enchilada plate (both cheese). Their queso is really tasty, as is their pico, which always had a fresh and very garlicky flavor! Wow! Taco Bell better have this place on their radar! Here's an old brand that has been re-invented with a new menu and outfitted with a new look yet their food is still reminiscent that great and unique taste that branded it as a staple for so many, in years past. The food was fast, beautifully plated for fast food and made right to order. The portion size is huge for the value! From my understanding the concept has been taken over by a group that's known for success. Here it certainly shows, from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the food presentation. It's a far cry from the smashed tacos that I get regularly from Taco Bell these days. Hopefully the service and cleanliness can persist! I've eaten many times at the Louisville location which is due for a makeover, in need of being rebranded, reinvested and relocated. There's nothing done cheaply at the Pimlico location and it shines! They will definitely take this concept mainstream if they can keep this up. Only time will tell the test but for now this place is certainly hitting all the marks. Give them a taste! This is only my second time here. I went inside and ordered carry-out. There isn't much seating room in here, but there's a drive-through. Most, like me, got their food to go. They were busy! However, both times I've been here, I received excellent customer service. The place was so clean; employees in the front and back were also clean and appropriately dressed. I could see that workers in the back had hair nets on. Just FYI: There are no Sunday specials here like the store on Broadwalk, which has 99 cent burritos then. I'll definitely return here.
