9/18/25 This is probably my 5th coming here now. But today I went to La Taquiza for lunch after work with some coworkers and it did not disappoint. I ordered the enchilada with both sauces and it came with rice and beans. We shared the cheese dip with chips which was really good. Their in house sauces are amazing and each one has its own level of spice. Everything we tried was on point and the service was both friendly and accommodating. Nothing short of to be expected. The atmosphere is also really fun with so much cool art decorating the space. Definitely a delicious and authentic Mexican restaurant I'd return again and again. read more

This is my new favorite Mexican place. They really stand out from the competition. My first visit I got the Nachos Taquiza with chorizo and it was enormous! All of the ingredients were just on a higher level than other places. From the pickled onions to the guacamole, they are different and better and everything is very fresh! The true highlight of the visit was their salsa bar. I couldn't decide which of their salsas was my favorite because they were all so good. I look forward to trying more of their menu. read more

Although I have not tried a lot of Mexican restaurants, La Taquiza is one of my favorites so far! The taste is so authentic, very fresh, and so delicious! They have an amazing meat variety that I don't seem to find elsewhere (so far). I wish their portions were bigger or the price was more affordable but in this case I do not care to pay more for better quality food. We have come in before closing and also ordered online. Both experiences have been great so far. I definitely recommend to try them at least once while in Lexington. read more

Lets get to the point. It's cozy location. A la carte so not a typical restaurant. Ordered the la tequiza chilaquiles with red sauce and chicken. Also ordered fajita steak. Both dishes were delicious and the food portions were just right. So why nit a 4 star? The server. She was working the counter and all around but the way she spoke to us was apathetic. Do I need a smiling fool? No but in this economy, people that spend that hard earned cash in your business need to be welcomed no matter how you feel. Let's just start with the fact that this place is amazing in general. Nobody is perfect. I am a huge fan of offal cuts, and they have them. They ( usually ) do them right. I've only been let down a couple of times out of the 10-ish times I've been. Sometimes the Tripas are not perfect, but that goes for other places too. Still good though. There's all sorts of crazy good things coming out of this TINY place. The staff is definitely overwhelmed at times. I get it. It's busy for a reason and there's not much room to fill the online orders on top of the small line to get in. Basically everything is solid. The salsa ( self serve ) is LEGIT. Bright colors and balanced flavors. Expect to pay up for things you'd normally get for free like chips and salsa. That's ok. It's all really good and I'd rather pay a few bucks to have something that's tastier than your regular, huge sit down joint. If you're not a super demanding person and don't mind getting up and grabbing your own salsa etc, definitely come here. Not the place to be lazy. Just go up and ask for things. No problem. Ambience wise, it's got enough room. The service is fine, whether you're taking it to go or dining in, you get your food. This is absolutely the the best place where literally everything on the menu is BOMB. Even when I DoorDash it, it's still better than most places if they're not open. Came for taco week, 1st time here. Known about for quite a while, there's just a lot of restaurants, esp Mexican. I like the ambiance of this place, being smaller. Sat outside with my friend, was very good weather. Glad they let me do 1 of each of their 2 kinds of taco week tacos. My friend did the taco week plus something on their regular menu, and got a margarita that he really liked. We got a cheese dip with some meat in it. We both thought it wasn't really that good. Wow! This place is amazing and such a hidden gem in Lexington. The food, service, and value was phenomenal, which is hard to find the trifecta these days. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and helped to a menu and recommendations. Ooh and the smells made me drool! The menu is extensive which is perfect for finding something for everyone. The food was / is probably the top 2 Mexican places I've been to in Lexington, maybe top but I'll have to go visit Ramirez to be able to really confirm it's been a while. The guacamole was large and full of flavor and I loved the chicharron that came with to dip in as well as a different take on chips. The cheese dip was the perfect consistency not too runny and not too thick, the three little bears would have loved it. I got the chilakiles and it was to die for, perfectly runny eggs, crunchy and soggy chips, with very flavorful carnitas. I ate the whole thing and then too the bread to dip up all the extra sauce! The local Mexican joint inhabits an unexciting strip mall, but has a nice clean atmosphere inside and some picnic tables set up outside as well. A robust salsa bar is prominently displayed, and I wondered if getting takeout meant I was missing out, but all five salsas were ultimately included in my neatly packed bag (and they were excellent). In addition to the garden variety veggie option, they had huitlacoche available for some of their items. For the uninitiated, it is a fungus that grows on corn and has a mild mushroom flavor (and is better nutritionally than the corn was). My taco arrived with grilled cactus as well, and flavors abounded. I could have been fine without the salsa. The churros I added were of course unnecessary, but really marvelously coated in cinnamon and with a mild sweet cream to dip them in. As with a lot of Mexican, the vegetarian options were pretty good but heavy on dairy. Overall, it's probably about as good as you could hope to find in Lexington. read more

Good first: Service excellent family owned and operated with their recipes. The street corn and queso was awesome. Our tacos were great (the woman didn't like the tortilla shells but she's like white white and they're corn and not flour - which I what I prefer but I grew up around Mexicans). Only thing that threw me off about the Taco De Pescado was the fact the menu said shrimp but I got fish? Which wasn't an option but still super good. The reason why this isn't 5 stars is because the sides kinda sucked. Fries were too hard and the rice was super mushy. Both seemed to be premade and not fresh. Also there wasn't a lot of seating. It's a really small joint but that's the only complaints I have. read more

I'm from Cali and these tacos tasted just like home: authentic and so delicious! I got the Al pastor taco which had small chunks of pineapple and the carnitas taco (just wish it was more crispy but it was extremely juicy and yummy) .Both were so flavorful. They over cooked the eggs and when we ask for them to redo them ..... they came out the exact same. The chicken tasted like it came out of a freezer bag. They had delicious soapes that were very filling, the horchata was very refreshing, and oh my gosh, those salsas! We ate at La Taquiza for lunch today and it is Lexington taco week. We just got the taco week special but will come back because some of the other food being served looked awesome. The inside of the restaurant is small with only about 10 tables or so. The staff was efficient and our order was taken quickly and our food came right out. The place was full and people were both eating in the restaurant and taking carry out food. We had a pleasant lunch and will be back to try other items. read more

I need to break out of my food coma long enough to tell you everything was excellent. The avocado crema and goat cheese on the taquiza tacos....wowowowow. The FIVE different kinds of salsa....wowowow...the whole corn tortillas as chips....I cannot even. I feel confident everything in this place tastes excellent and I cannot wait to be back. I heard this was a great authentic Mexican restaurant and wanted to see for myself. I went for lunch and ordered a lunch portion chicken quesadilla. Rice and black beans came with the order. The staff was nice, but the food wasn't great. I usually love quesadillas, but this was dry. I wasn't able to eat the entire meal. The meal was disappointing. They offered interesting salsas. I love me some authentic street tacos. I stumbled upon La Taquiza when it first opened in 2018 and have been bringing friends and classmates here ever since! During my first visit, the owner welcomed my friends and I with the utmost enthusiasm and several complimentary items, and asked to take our pictures for their Facebook page, and that set the tone of how I feel about this establishment. The menu is expansive but not overwhelming with options like burritos, fajitas, chimichanga, taco salads and such. But the star dishes in my opinion are the TACOS!! I like to start out with chips and queso dip to share, followed by 3-4 tacos. Some of my favorites are lengua, al pastor, and chorizo. Honestly I haven't had anything that I didn't like. **Don't forget to check out the salsas/sauces next to the registrar and their lunch specials/weekday specials (for example 99 cents taco al pastor on Tue/Thur).** Who would've known tasty bites are hidden behind such an unpretentious store front in a strip mall.
