My husband wanted to celebrate his birthday with a big burrito - unfortunately, we were only able to do it later in the day, and as it was a Sunday, most of the closer burrito joints we usually go to were closed! A friend going with us recommended Taco Sano, which we hadn't been to yet, so we gave it a try. I will say, on the day we arrived it seemed like the kitchen was having a hard time. However, I'm not one to judge on a bad day, and the cooks were aware and apologetic. Some important ingredients were unavailable (all rice, black beans) and they made up the difference at my suggestion that they substitute roasted veggies for the rice in my burrito. Even lacking the rice, the burrito I had was satisfactory and very tasty. My husband and our friends seemed pleased with their meals as well, and thanks to the staff doing whatever they could, we had a nice little get together in the cozy loft area of the restaurant. Food is generally good and fresh. It can be a hit or miss at times, most of the time it is a hit. I love the vegetarian options, Tofu and veggies or eggs. Really like their house made hot sauce. I enjoy the brown rice option. The burritos are average size. Spinach tortillas are a choice also. Now they have sweet potato's. Fantastic ICE everywhere. Gave me a warm feeling to know the staff was clean. Yes some were tanned and smiling.

This is my favorite place and go-to restaurant, either downtown or the Hip Strip for example. Fresh ingredients, helpful and friendly servers, home cooking at its best. I like it a lot. Maybe over-like, but it is my right to have great food, correct? i ordered the lunch date (18$) and the corn tortillas broke apart immediately, not enough meat to tortilla for price. Cilantro isn't cut, i had mostly stems. Rice was hard, no flavor in the pico, shrimp still had the SHELL on when i went to eat it. The Glaicer Melt salsa was the savior. The workers in the back let this girl suffer through cooking, prepping, and trying to remember my order. another worker came in and just messed her up afterwards. definitely won't be going back unless i just get salsa. read more

This place used to be our go to. Huge portions and bigger taste with delicious homemade tortilla chips. However, we went for the first time in awhile and it's all changed. Not sure if there was a change in management but my burrito was half the size it used to be, the rice was crunchy, and the chips were unsalted and stale. Really disappointing. Taco Sano has the Burritos and options to be greater but it needs some polish. Being shown here by a friend I was eager to have a giant breakfast burrito to hold me all day and they delivered on that. I loaded it up with all kinds of options I'd never heard of - jalepeno bacon and pineapple salsa to name a couple. Those were good. The burrito was good, you can load it with various beans, veggies and salsa further customizing it, I got the Deluxe. I think the overall operation as I mentioned needs some polish and a year from now this could be outdated. The staff taking orders seemed to also be the ones to prep and cook it. There were 3 so it seemed a bit out of sorts as a line began to form. It seemed their prep area is in an awkward spot so they the carry burrito filling (eggs, meat etc.) over to the prep area and inevitably some is spilling out. Also the drink dispenser has 'out of order' sign. No Bueno. So food is pretty good, but their overall operation needs work, this would make the overall visit better. read more

WORST customer service experience in the 12 years I have lived in Missoula and eaten here. To say he was rude to myself and my food is an understatement. Poor tone. Poor communication. Slamming my food around in anger and literally throwing the ingredients in. Accidentally split the burrito tortilla when trying to close it and threw away about half of the ingredients inside when transferring to a different tortilla and did NOT replenish the insides. I am NOT happy I paid full price for a half ass burrito. Update: Spoke to the Manager/Owner who was very polite and offered me a free burrito to replace the one I should not have paid for. I've been a fan of Taco Sano since they first opened in Missoula. Their food was always good, fast and used to be reasonably priced. I realize the cost of everything has gone up for everyone, but if it's going to cost me almost fifty bucks for a quesadilla, a burrito, and tater tots, my order should at least be correct. The food that actually arrived was fine (wrong kind of beans on the burrito but not the end of the world, everything else was delicious), but they forgot our tater tots. Terrible. I ordered online and when I arrived to pick up the 2 carne asada burritos they seemed shocked... apparently, even though the 3 employees were alone in the store, they had not seen the ticket print out. One of the employees seemed completely shattered by this so I assured him it was no big deal, and I was happy to wait for a few more minutes for a couple good burritos. Unfortunately, after the extra wait, the burritos were a joke. I received two tortillas in basically a tennis ball shape. In one of the burritos was no meat, just cold beans, cold rice, and vegetables balled into 2 tortillas. The second was also a sorta small ball shaped "burrito" with a few meat flakes and rice, which was not supposed to be there, and of course no sign of the extra beans and cheese I paid for. The three guys behind the counter seemed completely overwhelmed by a 2 burrito order. I left the gross food, got a partial refund of the $35 and, as we were now late, my partner and I drove to Taco Bell where I managed to get 3 tacos, a small warm burrito and a large warm burrito for $17, in 5 min and this fast food both food looked tasted way better. read more

Every time I get my hopes up and try again it's as if you know I have high expectations and you do whatever necessary to wreck them. So this time I am leaving my thoughts in a review. Not bad, not great. The carnitas tacos were medium-poor, but the quesadilla was solid. If you are looking for big portions, order the quesadilla! It was very cheesy and super filling. I grew up in Missoula. The hip strip is my neighborhood. I stopped in yesterday at Taco Sano. I like the interior setting of the renovated garage turned restaurant-reminiscent of a movie set. What immediately struck me was the food prep and friendly staff. Everything is freshly made with quality, wholesome food. I ordered a taco and burrito. I took the food home and feasted. What a treat! That was the worst service I've ever had. If you don't want to work- then don't! The guy making our food was literally one of the worst servers I've ever encountered. I asked if the pinto beans were vegetarian and he threw his arms up in the air and said "They're beans, probably!" Turns out they are made with lard. We really wanted to love this place. This is in a old converted garage and looked promising. All of the issues were due to being slammed with customers - however it appears to a popular place so need to work on some better processes. We ordered 4 tacos - 2 of them were correct and 2 burritos which were correct. Since they were so busy, they didn't take the care in warming the corn tortillas so they all broke in the middle. The pulled pork is very tasty, especially with the pineapple salsa. If we were back in the area, we would give them another try. read more

I'm not sure what happened to our food.3 tacos = there was a tablespoon of meat at most on one side, corn tortillas completely raw, not even steamed, I'm a cook, they were straight outta the package. During the Covid situation while visiting Montana, we were able to get a yummy meal. The food was cooked to order and selection was good. Hubby got the carne asada burrito on wheat which he enjoyed. I got pulled chicken with cilantro lime rice and cilantro lime sauce on spinach wrap. It was yummy especially with the pineapple pico on the side. Times are tough, support local business. My partner and I decided to try this place because he has been in there to pickup orders and said it always smells good. We walk in and are hit with a really horrible mold smell. It made me want to run out of there. It was coming from behind the drink refrigerator and a panel was put up to block whatever was smelling like that. Besides the awful smell, the service was horrible. We didn't know where to order and stood there awkwardly waiting for instructions while we were ignored by the staff. we got to order and I really hope that person was just having a bad day because wow, rudest experience I've had. Met with rolling eyes and harsh tone like I was ruining her day by being there. We were the only ones there. I left a %5 tip and I never write reviews but felt the need to. Stopped by for a burrito after work, there were four people on staff and only two customers ahead who both got burritos. I stood and waited 30 minutes for my food and finally got it, but the employee just walked away and I ended up waiting another 10 minutes just to pay for my food. On top of it all, I specifically asked for no cilantro (it tastes like soap to me) and it was all up in there when I got home. So to wait 40 minutes for a $12 burrito that tastes like dawn dish soap to me it was not worth it. I had the worst customer service, I have ever experienced this summer, at Taco Sano. I was super busy getting ready for a camping trip, and thought I would order online for a salmon burrito, jalapeno poppers, and dipping sauce. I ordered 45 minutes before arriving. I arrived at Taco Sano on the exact time my order was supposed to be ready. I said that I was here for my online order and one of the workers looked at my ticket and said it's right here. The place had seven people or so in line so I waited. I kept assuming that they were making it. I waited until the person who came in after me got their food I spoke up. I said I ordered online 45 minutes before I even arrived here and I just saw that I was not getting my food and other customers who showed up after me were getting served. I said that I had to leave to go move my laundry and I'll be back. I came back and picked up my order I asked for a punch on my card and didn't get one and they tried to charge me a second time for the dipping sauce. I took it home and ate the burrito then I noticed that there was no dipping sauce. I had another errand to run getting ready for vacation so I stopped by and got my dipping sauce. I understand that they were busy and probably had a new worker so I never became upset or mean. But what blows my mind is they never offered me any compensation or an extra punch on my card nothing. Delicious burritos but make sure they give your money's worth and ask for extra rice n beans cause they can skimp on that.

Just paid 9$ and delivery fee for a burrito and they delivered one single taco and the other item on the order was completely wrong. We have been calling the store to try and have them redeliver the correct order but no one is answering the phone at the store even though they will be open for two more hours. Turns out it wasn't the employees fault at all, it is the fault of the owner for leaving them to run a store without sufficient supplies or support. After calling for 30 minutes we finally spoke with an employee who states they only had 2 people working at 7pm on a Friday night. Shame on the owners of this restaurant for treating their employees so terribly and setting them up for failure. If someone walks out or you are understaffed then the owner needs to be there supporting their employees. Not surprising seeing that these are the business owners that brought us to Pita Spit glory. Really hope the owners will begin treating their employees better than they have been for the last several years. Shame on you. Take it as a sign- if you cant keep employees or are having trouble hiring then it is 100% because you don't pay enough and treat them terribly. I've heard some nasty things from past employees of Chris and now I will take them seriously and share accordingly. Taco Sano has been my favorite burrito place in Missoula for years but there is no way I'm paying $8 for this again. You're looking at burrito with chicken, rice, beans, lettuce, and other veggies. Unfortunately, this thing is about the size of a tater tot (nothing but good things to say about about the tots here, though). So I think the 4 star rating I'm giving is a little generous, but it was an overall okay experience. We came here expecting Mexican food and found Mexican inspired food instead. No one spoke Spanish and they did not have many of the staples that you would find in an authentic Mexican taco/burrito place such as zanahorias picantes and salsa verde. That said, the food was fresh and you could choose your own ingredients. It was a sight upgrade from a chipotle with a fun atmosphere. Anyway if we pass through Missoula again we will try a different Mexican place, but encourage you to try it if you are into this type of thing. read more
