Ever since I heard the company behind Cookout was opening a Mexican-style drive-through, and one of the first locations was right here in Thomasville, I've been excited to try it. I tried the queso fries, a beef taco, and a cherry lemonade. The queso fries were excellent: crispy, well-seasoned fries, with an appropriate amount of queso. I would totally order these again. The taco was also delicious, and is definitely my new favorite fast food taco. Greasy, flavorful beef, and with perfectly spicy, lightly cooked jalepeños added. I wasn't a huge fan of the lemonade. It wasn't as tangy as you expect with lemonade, and also didn't taste that strongly of cherry. It actually tasted a lot like grape juice to me. The one thing I wish is that they had tray deals like Cookout has. They have a build your own tray type of thing, but it's like "choose 1-2 of this, 1-2 of that, a drink if you want..." and you still pay for everything à la carte, which defeats the purpose. I love that Cookout is doing concept restaurants, but it's clear that they aren't putting much effort into promoting it. The website is pretty out of date. The restaurant is open on Sundays and unlike their online menu suggests, there are no meals/combos. Everything is à la carte. It's a drive thru only restaurant so I didn't have much interaction with the staff, but when I did the lady was very nice. I changed my drink at the window and she was extremely kind about it. The only service related thing that was kind of annoying is that they throw all the food together in the boxes. When you're ordering for multiple people it's a hassle having to try to figure what who gets what because there isn't much rhyme or reason to how they put food in the boxes. The food was about average with some things being really good. All of the tacos and burritos were just ok. You can get some better seasoned and cooked tacos from other big chains. I did love the cilantro adobo sauce though. It tasted like a sauce you get at some empanada restaurants. The fries were also pretty good. They had a good amount of seasoning and were somewhat crispy. They also are not stingy at all with the queso. We had more than we knew what to do with. Nothing else I got is really worth talking about. Definitely happy I got to try it, but don't think I'll make the drive back out here to try it again. read more

I think it's great to see another fast food option that has something different than just the typical burgers & sandwiches so I was excited to try this! Overall, I really did enjoy it. The cheese tortillas come with 2 which is pretty cheap and honestly I thought they were delicious. It's such a simple item but the cheese to tortilla ratio was perfect. The queso was really good & the chips had a nice seasoning on them. The fries were really good too, also with a good amount of seasoning. The fries were so good with the cilantro adobo sauce, which I highly recommend getting no matter what because it's one of my favorite sauces. I do think they could've given us more fries (we hadn't eaten any before taking the pic), but overall I liked everything! It's drive thru only so there's not much to review about the actual restaurant but the staff seemed nice & our order was correct/fresh. I'd go back again! read more

My husband and I finally made it to try Taco Roos in Thomasville. One thing that kept us from going sooner what the incorrect hours listed on Yelp saying they were closed on Sundays. Turns out they are open every day. I submitted that edit so hopefully that will be corrected soon. Taco Roos has no dining room so be prepared to take your order home or do what we did and eat in your car. We wanted to try so many things. We ended up getting a beef taco, grilled chicken taco, bean and cheese burrito, chicken quesadillas and a Mexibowl. We rounded it out with a fresh pineapple lemonade. Both my husband and I thought the grilled chicken taco and the fried fish taco were the stars of the show. We loved the juicy flavorful chicken so much. We added a bit of their salsa verde and WOW was it spicy! I needed a minute to recover from it. Luckily we had our pineapple lemonade to help with that which I highly recommend. They are making all the lemonades fresh so definitely don't skip this when you visit. The fish taco was crispy and came with slaw, a slice of lime diced onions and some tartar sauce all on the side. The fried fish pieces could have been a bit bigger IMO but it was still tasty. The burrito was a sad little open ended thing that looked so flat like someone sat on it. It was just OK but you can skip this one and you won't be missing anything. The chicken quesadilla was bigger than I thought it was going to be. They pretty much use one size tortilla for all their food items. It looks like it's a soft taco/fajita size. The quesadilla is two of those with the chicken and cheese sandwiched between them. It comes uncut but we managed to eat it without too much mess. Lastly the Mexibowl. It was super filling and gave us a chance to try the Mexican rice they make fresh. It was super filling and I think that is really the best value. I'd like some chips with it next time to add a little texture. Don't forget to ask for the salsa you want. They won't put it in unless you ask. We went through the drive through twice in one night. The first time, we got a worker named Savannah. She wasn't very friendly at all. She was short with us and even when we tried to ask her a question she shut the window on us mid sentence. She also forgot to give us our drink we ordered so we had to go back through to get it. Delish! Stopped in for a "quick snack" and the menu was too enticing. I have been looking forward to trying out this place for months and finally had the perfect opportunity. From joining the line (super crowded!) to food in hand, it only took about 15 minutes. For a new(er) place at 1 pm on a Sunday, this wasn't bad at all! For my order, I got a chicken quesadilla, cherry lemonade, and queso fries. The chicken quesadilla was nice and cheesy with a decent amount of chicken in it as well! The lemonade tasted more cran-grape than cherry but delicious nonetheless. I was a little bit confused when my fries came deconstructed, but then was quickly appeased when I realized I could dip them without losing half the cheese to the box! All in all, definitely a 10/10 experience and I'd like to return! read more

Customer service was great. Food was delicious. The salsa and the sauces were great . I had a black bean and cheese burrito and a refried bean and cheese burrito and a cheeseburger taco. The cheeseburger taco was unbelievably good and I put hot green Salsa on it. The drive-through was fast, but I could see how I could get backed up, this place is really good. Young lady said they may be coming to Raleigh and Charlotte. read more

Not bad. Of course we can't help but compare the food and experience to Taco Bell, which would also typically earn three stars. The fried fish taco was the star, but a finer shredding of the cabbage and a little spicy ranch style of special sauce would be a nice touch. We will certainly give them another try. read more

I usually love this place the food is good but everything fucking time they fuck up my order there somehow. Today I wait in a long as line then finally we get our food and they give me queso fries without the fucking queso. Like wtf and that was all I got. It just really pisses me off when people can't get a fucking order right after they repeat it back to me. Improve getting the orders correct. If I want regular ass fries I could have just went to cookout. read more

This place is take out only! The line gets long quick after 5pm. The parking lot is clean if you decide to eat do not dump trash. The outside speaker with Spanish music is kind of distracting while drive-thru ordering. Lots of choices. Decent prices. The food is hot and ready when you reach the window. The girls at register are always helpful. I recommend making sure you have everything before you leave. I have enjoyed the grilled fish tacos and the rice bowls. The chips and cheese are addictive. I've been to Taco Roos three times and enjoyed it every time. It seems odd ordering food from a restaurant you can't see into but it's no different than Cook Out. The grilled chicken tacos are very good and I've had the nacho chips each time. Last night I got the salsa Verde and was surprised that it was hot and spicy like a Mexican restaurant serves! I love the boxes they use and the complimentary chocolates are a treat. I am going to try the fish tacos next. read more

We stopped there on the way home tonight 1/27 for the first time. If you are craving Taco Bell skip it and drive straight to taco Roos. This place has some of the best quick Mexican food around. We will be going back. read more
