Although Taco Palenque is a chain type of restaurant. They do adhere to many Mexican home style foods and flavors. The fajitas are top notch and the seasonings are up to par with typical Northern Mexican cuisine. The salsa/condiment bar has fresh vegetables and the salsa variety never disapoints. The staff is very friendly and is always there to make your experience unforgettable. They do their best to keep you coming back. This is not a fancy restaurant, but a great family oriented place to have a great meal. The beer is always cold and their Micheladas are AWESOME, no matter what beer you choose!!.. read more

always fresh and good tasting food. Takeout or eating at restaurant. Recommend to my friends.

I placed a pick-up order on 6-18-19 and received an email saying the order was placed. I received a text message saying when the order was going to be ready. My credit card was charged. I arrived to Taco Palenque and they had no record of the order and had no idea how to even find it. Then they claimed that they didn't have a password to get the order. The young man behind the counter did a great job helping me get my order given the severe limitations they have with this app. The order was completed relatively quickly. The food was okay. The cilantro was expired. The quesadilla was just a whole bunch of cheese with little chicken and a whole lot of no flavor. I contacted Yelp and inquired about the breakdown with this order. They were no help but happily cancelled the order. I paid the restaurant directly so they would get paid for helping me fulfill the order. I'm just sorry i didn't get the name of the young man who helped me so I could give him credit. That was probably the only good experience. read more

Ordered delivery of the Parrilladas. I was craving their fajitas. They delivered 20 minutes early and everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Taco Palenque. read more

I have gone many times and consistently like the food. I will say sometimes presentation is better on certain days but taste is always good. I either get carne asada street tacos or a chicken quesadilla. I usually always ordered refried beans and chips to dip on the side. I love their Pico and their mild salsa. During covid they give you small cups. I miss the buffet of toppings and salsas. Overall I eat here very often and will consistently come back. read more

Great food! We go here every time we are in town visiting my brother in law and his wife.

Taco Palenque is the BEST Mexican food in the valley, hands down. Their condiments bar and tips are amazing. The beef is always tender.it is the FIRST restaurant we go to whenever we return to the RGV. read more

I still remember when one of the first Taco P opened on 10th street in McAllen a few years back. The flavor is exactly the same after all these years and that's a good thing. I've been ordering nothing but a pair of Tacos Reynosa in my recent visits, I prefer corn tortilla rather than flour. They're prepared with grilled onions and cilantro, a taco's best friends. The tenderness of the fajita is spot on, and the grill flavor is just phenomenal. They're very generous with the meat, one taco is good for most people, not for me though. The tortilla was soft and firm at the same time, just enough so it won't break. It had a good flavor to it, just a nice very mild corn taste not too overpowering. Their salsa offerings are great, some very spicy for people like me and some very mild as well, the "Pico de Gallo" is my favorite. The red sauce is the most spicy, go easy on that one. I like that they have a small chips and salsa bar, you can help yourself with as much as you want. The only thing I don't like is the price, four tacos for $17 is just way too expensive. If not for the price I'd be here more often. They have a great menu and do recommend people to stop by. read more

We are visiting from out of town and I headed out from the hotel in search of good coffee and breakfast tacos. The lady at the coffee shop recommended this place. I ordered two potato & chorizo and two bean & chorizo tacos. I will say the tortillas & beans were very good, but this picture is a representation of the chorizo in the tacos. Seriously? I am giving two stars for the great tortillas, the yummy refried beans and really good service. Still irked about the swine sausage stinginess. read more

Taco Palenque Mission - Potato and chorizo taco, but where the heck is the chorizo? There are "specks," but not what I'm used to when ordering something like this. - Mexican Near Me - Mission, Texas

Update to my original post: I figured I would stop by to give it a shot after the last time. I went through drive thru this morning to order breakfast, and to my surprise they have a new cashier who doesn't speak any English. l don't speak Spanish well at all. It's safe to say that I will no longer go here. I can't order food! The service here was terrible. I came in for breakfast and ordered the taco specials. The cashier upcharged me and then charged an additional 2.19 for a cup of water. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the food was ok. read more

I've yet to check out any of Taco Palenque's Houston locations, but glad I was a able to try them, in McAllen of all places. The fact that I could get fideo (a chicken broth and tomato-based Mexican noodle soup) from a drive-thru window nearly blew my mind. You can also get menudo for the road as well. Their salsas were exceptionally good - especially the salsa verde. Never EVER will I go to another Taco Cabana (blech) or Taco Bell again. Taco Palenque def wins the "Mexican fast food with drive-thru" category. read more

Ordered the Super Quesadilla with fajita and it was possibly the most underwhelming quesadilla for the price and how they call it "Super" nothing super about it. Almost no meat and the cheese was decent. But still very underwhelming for the cost of the dish itself. Your better off getting just about anything else from their menu. Service was great but the food overall is overpriced and very very underwhelming. Will never go back again. read more

good customer service manager in the morning she was really good help with helping with my order and get it well situated over all great atmosphere read more

See these all over south Texas and figured I'd try it. I asked what was popular and they said fajitas so I got a fajita taco for $4.29 which is pricey in my opinion for a single taco but it's Texas so maybe it'll be massive. Nope, standard size :(. Tastes good but a little chewy and tons of sauces to choose from which is a plus. But for a fast food joint the value isn't there for me. read more

This is in an old fast food restaurant and has a drive through. It's counter service so not a nice sit down restaurant. The food was excellent and prices were pretty good. I had a steak burrito that was huge. Others in our party had chicken tacos, chicken fajita burrito, el pastor burrito, steak quesadilla and a beef taco combo. The only thing that wasn't great was the rice, which was just ok. Overall a good experience it! read more

Fantastic food, I had to walk from my hotel about 1-1/2 miles to get to the store and it was well worth it. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I ordered some tacos to go and they started to help me take them to my car but when I told them I was walking. Carlos came to me and said I will give you a ride in his personal car to my hotel. WOW how impressive. The food and staff were beyond fantastic. Thank you for a great experience. read more

A great place for authentic Mexican food! It's a family favorite. Taco Palenque offers you most of your highly desired Mexican items such as tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. The food here is always amazing, tasty, great fajitas and definitely hits the spot when craving Mexican food. Doesn't taste like a fast food restaurant...BUT be sure to check your order, they get it wrong 75% of the time. Either forget a taco, a meal or an ingredient. If this wasn't the case, I'd give it 5 stars. Hope the fix this problem! They're usually pretty quick, you don't wait for to long. read more

Holy guacamole. This place was amazing. When the guys from the factory wanted to take me here, I'll admit, I was disappointed. What is this wannabe Taco Bell? The color scheme offended my hipster sensibilities. But then, we ate there and I changed my tune. First off, all you can eat chips, self serve, and a million salsas! Yes! And the tacos? Full of meat. I was expecting little tiny street style things, so I ordered two. Damn, maybe it's those Texas portions, but wow, I was ready to burst. Flavor? Good. Solid. Not gourmet, but pretty cravable. I will be back. read more

We finished our meal at 7 PM, and the attention we recieved from everyone was amazing! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, our server was attentive and asked if we needed anything, brought us boxes, etc, and we were wished a great night when we walked out. The cashier greeted and acknowledged every single customer, which is always nice! Maybe I'm making a huge deal about customer service, but it can make or break a restaurant and a family dinner. I ordered the #2 (I think), which is the two Tacos Caseros combo. They came with a huge drink and a big side of Fideo soup for less than $8. Delicious and cheap!!! Remember, they have a salsa bar and free chips. I've been to other locations here in the valley, but this one is AMAZING. My entire family and I enjoyed eating here today! read more

Ordered a burrito, but didn't realize this place is like a local Taco Bell but uses slightly better ingredients than Taco Bell and is probably more flavor than Taco Bell. The food is good here but they barely speaks English, really? Anyways they are extremely CHEAP with their utensils, napkins and sauce.
