We were seated in about 10 minutes, which is unheard of on a night like that. The service was next level; multiple servers worked together seamlessly, making sure every table was taken care of without missing a beat. The kitchen was firing on all cylinders, pushing out food fast despite being completely packed inside and out, and everything came out hot, fresh, and perfect. They even had complimentary snacks to build your own street corn (hands down my favorite) and gave out Cinco de Mayo glasses, which was pretty cool. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place, the food, the service, the atmosphere, all of it. La Placita is the real deal. Locally owned and operated by genuinely great people, and it shows in every part of the experience. If you're looking for how a restaurant should run on its busiest day of the year, this is it.

I know it's been a long time since I updated my review, but I've been back several times since my last one. They're still serving up some great Tex-Mex favorites, and the people here are always friendly and welcoming. It's great to see that after all these years, they're still doing what they do so well. Definitely worth a visit!

When they posted on social media about having soft serve margaritas, I knew I had to stop by and I am glad I did. Huntsville has soooo many Mexican restaurants, and they're all rinse & repeat, but because of the soft serve margaritas alone, I will most definitely be making a point to come here first! The only complaint I have is it did take a couple minutes for our waitress to come to the table however she was very attentive afterwards. They also had a sign for "Now Hiring" so I was expecting a little wait here or there.

And we loved the homemade green and red hot sauces they provided in squirt bottles. The chips and salsa also tasted very fresh, but the amount of salsa was soooo small. It was comical. Would've loved more, especially for the upcharge of $2.99. We would definitely come back and try other options. They have a lot of items including various drinks (including cocktails and beers) and desserts. It felt very clean. Service was quick and friendly. Parking is tight. All in all, a nice meal!

The owner at the front of the restaurant is polite and very helpful with menu selections. Food/Drink: I ordered a Jamaica (Hibiscus). It wasn't too sweet, and had the right amount of tartness. Compared to Tex Mex and Mexican restaurants in town, they provide a meager amount of chips, but they are freshly made with some homemade salsa. I didn't really have to worry about snacking on the chips because my food came out fairly quickly. I ordered some Mole Enchiladas and received some large portions. The chicken enchiladas were a little juicy, and the mole really enhanced the flavor. I loved the smokiness of the ancho falling through + the chocolate flavor. The cotija cheese and crema drizzled on top of the mole was good too. It had a tinge of sweetness, and paired well with the Jamaica. I recommend you try this place out!

Bryan's, which was an affordable family steakhouse...though it was closed for many years before Los Compadres renovated and reopened the space. If I recall correctly, this is the second Los Compares location, with the first one being located in...maybe Hazel Green? I'd never been to either until this visit. It offers a relatively laid back lunch atmosphere. The restaurant has two halves/sides but was only busy enough to seat people on one side. We were seated promptly. We all went to the restroom to wash our hands. It looked clean enough but did have a kind of unpleasant smell -- like in a yucky water way rather than a classic stinky bathroom way, if that makes sense lol. Anyway, the service was the highlight and was quite friendly and prompt. Orders taken, food and checks delivered in a timely fashion, etc. Our waiter was very nice. Checkout is completed at a counter near the entrance rather than the waiter taking your check and payment. The food, however...meh. I'll be the first to admit I don't really care for this "type" of Mexican food. This restaurant seems to focus more heavily on Mexican food more suited to American palates. I don't want to dog on it too hard, but think a more intense focus on dishes like cheesy chicken and rice and fajitas than dishes like birria or street tacos with meats like al pastor or lengua. The chips were warm and the salsa was average, maybe a bit bland. We got cheese dip to share and it was supremely runny, so runny it was impossible to get a chip with dip to your mouth without spilling or dribbling some. They do have a nice lunch menu with reduced prices. One of my coworkers and I both got the lunch taquitos (mine with beef, hers with shredded chicken). My other coworker got a taco salad. She was probably the happiest among us, but she likes this type of Mexican food the most. The chicken taquitos were apparently quite bland. I didn't think the beef ones were very flavorful either, but they did have a hint of spice. There was also nothing in the taquitos other than meat, not even cheese, which was kind of a bummer. It was extremely hot temperature wise at least and the tortillas were crispy. The beans had solidified into a sort of unappealing hard glob and the rice didn't have much flavor. Given that this isn't really my favorite way to eat Mexican anyway as well as how overall underwhelming the food was, I doubt I will return; however, it may be worth a shot if you find the menu more to your liking. Thanks for the pleasant experience with the wait staff.
