They have all kinds of taco variations, from traditional street tacos to wild concoctions that I would have never thought up (looking at you Peanut Butter Taco). Their beer selection is great. And their house margaritas are muy strong. Their service is fantastic as well. Also, they are attached to one of the best bars ever: The So Long Saloon. This is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan! They have speciality tacos that are unique and creative with the perfect combo of spice and flavor. On Tuesdays you should try the peanut butter taco. It has PB, a pickle, steak, sriracha, and cheese. My other favorite that is on the menu every day is the slayer. I get it wit steak but you could chose pork or chicken. Whenever I think of Lucha, I think good vibes. The staff here are super - always efficient, always pleasant with a good service ethic. The drinks are strong, so I normally have to ask for a light pour (how often does this happen?) and they are always accommodating. The food is consistently good with typical oversize Mexican portions. The downside when students are in town - waiting, waiting....no lobby to wait in and when it's cold outside, brrr.... The patio is adorable, but it's most often just the two of us, so we take bar seats. The only thing these folks could do better is offer more innovative small plates (though the tacos do suffice here) and text me when a table opens. read more

This hidden secret is one of the best kept 'secrets' in Manhattan! Obsessed! The Nancy, Pirate Nancy, and the pork nachos, holy moly!

I like this menu because there is a great selection of different types of tacos (black n blue, buffalo, etc) along with the classics. The drinks are great as they offer a fresh twist on some classics. There is a nice outdoor patio but it's often filled quickly. I have never seen this place not busy! Service is always friendly and relatively quick. I think the taco prices are fair but bigger plates can add up quickly. read more

Holy hell this place is delicious! My husband and I went on a Saturday night and it was packed! But they gave us margaritas while we waited and it honestly didn't take too long to get a spot at the bar. The chipotle raspberry bean dip was fantastic and between us we had the carnitas taco, tinga taco, and the slayer taco and all of them were so yummy! I was underwhelmed. The queso was terribly greasy. I understand it's cheese and it's naturally greasy but once it started to cool it coagulated and was just a pile of hard cheese and grease. I tried 2 tacos, one had beef and the other had chicken. The flavor concept for the tacos was good but he meat wasn't seasoned and it was dry. I would give this 5 for the food but the beer menu sucks unless you want Mexican beer and the margaritas were plain and not very good. The food is good. My only issue with the food is that they use a ton of bacon bits to cover up an otherwise bland taco for a lot of tacos on the menu. Quality of the service has declined recently and I had a less than great experience the last two times I went. The waitresses almost seem to forget about the tables they are servicing. Decided to come here with the fiance because it was the only mexican restaurant in Manhattan that served Michelada's. The drink was okay, not what I am use to being from Houston. That was the only downside of this place. Everything else was great. It was pretty packed but that was a good sign. While waiting, the hostess took our drink order. People were seated in a timely manner and the hostess was doing a solid job at keeping track of who was next up for a table. Once seated, we ordered four tacos: The Tinga, Slayer, Black & Blue and Buffalo Chicken. I personally recommend the Slayer and Buffalo Chicken. The Slayer is the best street taco I've ever had in my life. Packed with flavor! After being disappointed about the Michelada, I noticed a beer mixed with a juice that alot of patrons were ordering. The art of customer service is lost in Aggieville, and Taco Lucha is no exception. We were greeted by 3 obnoxious teenage girls, seated, rushed to order, & rushed to exit. The rude waitress even took the tip from the table before we had stood up to leave. No matter how tasty the food may be, the service gave us no time to savor our meal. We will not return - if you want to enjoy your meal, I suggest staying out of Aggieville and venturing to the outskirts. I only had the nachos as an appetizer so can't speak for the rest of the menu but goodness gracious they were incredible. Plenty for two people, especially if you are going to have an entree afterward, but man oh man I didn't want to stop eating this delicious mountain of nachos. Every chip seemed to have something on it which is the best kind there is. I also had a frozen house margarita and tried a few sips of the same but it was on the rocks...both were great, maybe a little pricey, but went down smoothly nonetheless. Could have been made a bit stronger but if you are a margarita newbie then you'll probably be a fan. Great indoor and outdoor seating on the patio...even in the winter you can sit outside because they have a nice fire going and heaters. No complaints with the service either. One thing though is I don't like all of the plastic...wish our drinks were served in glassware instead, since I hate thinking about all the waste that is generated on a daily basis. read more
