I give this a 5 star because most of the workers are college students and provide great service. However, I would never say this is authentic Mexican food- if you are looking for generic tacos that will fill you up with fun drinks I recommend this place! They have a secret menu that you can order from as well. Great atmosphere and great service. They recommended the raspberry bean dip which in my opinion was not good but it seems like it is a staple in Manhattan, Kansas so why not try it out! A fun Mexican joint in the heart of KSU country. We went on a game day expecting a wait since Taco Lucha has quite a reputation around Manhattan. It didn't take too long for them to get us seated but friendly staff even brought drinks while we were waiting. When it was our turn to sit and order, the Chipotle Raspberry Black Bean Dip jumped out as the local recommendation. We then ordered a variety of different tacos and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. The bean dip was a huge hit. A curious combination of succulent beans, zesty cheese, and sweet raspberry made for a spectacular bite when piled high on a fresh chip. I was slightly underwhelmed with the tacos, but the vibes in the building more than made up for it! read more

I drive tour buses around the country for musicians. I am staying at the courtyard across the street, but cannot get checked in until 2pm. My runner told me when he dropped me off across the street, "hey if you like Mexican food, TRY THAT PLACE!!" I am glad, that I did. The food was amazing, but the service was even more impressive. I had high expectations for taco Lucha as everyone I know that's eaten here raves about it. I was not disappointed! We did wait over an hour to be seated (graduation weekend & small restaurant) but it was worth the wait. We also luckily got to have drinks on the patio while we waited which truly helped. Once we were seated we had some more cocktails and ordered the sampler plate I believe? Along with the raspberry bean dip. I wasn't a huge fan of the raspberry bean dip but the rest of my party was obsessed with it. Salsas were pretty good as well. For our entree we all got some variety of tacos. A favorite of mine when visiting Manhattan! This is not the spot for traditional Mexican food - Taco Lucha offers unique taco combinations, fun flavors, and flour tortillas. Regardless, it's all delicious. They share a kitchen with So Long Saloon, so some menu items are similar - including the Chipotle Raspberry Black Bean dip, which is a must try. It's one of my favorite things to order when in Manhattan! I've sampled the carnitas, fish, and chicken tinga tacos and enjoyed them all. Flavors are good and the tortillas come out just a little crispy, which I love. Always had great service here, but be forewarned there's often a long wait. Interesting place. The Mexican lucha libre vibe gets a bit lost with the pop culture college campus influence and the bass heavy music playing from The overhead speakers but the food was decent and they had some novel flavors. I was a bit worried this would have bad fake Mexican food but whatever they made was delicious. The tacos were incredible. I picked three random ones on the menu and I was in heaven. They also had a peanut butter taco which sounds weird but was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Great queso too. Will definitely be back to have some more of those creative tacos. Hats off to who came up with that menu. It does get very busy (and I can understand why) it's a smaller/intimate place and they do have outdoor seating! Staff was friendly and attentive. Great little spot in Aggiville! Great place go hang out and chill with friends over some great drinks and delicious food! I've been he a couple times and been extremely satisfied every time. They offer inside and outside seating, the patio is great! When you stop in, you might have to wait for a table though, this is a very popular lunch and dinner spot. If waiting isn't your thing, no problem! They offer a great option! You can order right off the sidewalk at their to-go window. Such a fun place to sit and sip while eating with friends. The black bean raspberry dip is to die for. The service is friendly and quick.

Not sure if we just didn't flirt enough with the hostesses or didn't slip a cash tip in, but last time I checked "about a 30 minute wait" shouldn't ever take well over an hour. I definitely enjoyed sitting out here cooking with my party of 5 while THREE LARGE GROUPS, several arriving AFTER us, were all seated first. Asked why the wait...the look on her face said she either skipped us completely or forgot we were still standing here. No apology, no complimentary offering for the screw up, just a nonchalant "oh you're second in line" - and there's barely anyone else left out here. Haven't even gotten in the door yet and I'm confident I won't be back. Waiting area outside is miserably hot, the sun shades do absolutely nothing after 5pm with the sun angle, and there's a homeless person loitering on the shaded benches across the street. read more

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is due to how small the location is and having to consistently wait 20-45 minutes at each visit for a table. Standing outside and waiting for a table to open is to be expected. We love the raspberry black bean dip and there are many options of tacos to choose from, and we have enjoyed them all! The chip and salsa was a great way to start and I had a burrito that was very good. It is a fun place that shares a kitchen with the bar next door. it is a very small place and there is always a wait, but it is worth it. there are many place in Aggieville to eat but this is one of my favorites. The service was also great and that added a lot to the meal. I've been to So Long Saloon before, and when I heard this place next door shared a kitchen I had to try it. Unfortunately, the day I went was the day some of the kitchen staff quit or didn't show up to work, but the staff that was there worked hard to make it happen. The food took about an hour to get, but it was worth it. Plus they comped the appetizer, which I've had at So Long Saloon before. I walked in to a very attentive hostess that directed me to the bar. From there I was given a menu and was asked immediately what appetizer I wanted. I let the bartender know I would like a house margarita and some time to look over the menu. While delivering my drink she asked what tacos I wanted and I again asked for a little more time. After a few moments I flagged her down to order the Super Nachos, immediately after that she asked what tacos I wanted after my nachos. I told her I would wait until my nachos came to make that decision. Nachos got delivered and within two minutes the other bartender was asking what tacos I wanted. I then told him that I would make my decision once I was able to enjoy my appetizer... The picture with this review is what was left after trying to skim 15-20 chips off the top that actually had toppings on them. Needless to say I asked for my check and walked out of here. The best Mexican in town although it may not be what you're expecting. Start with the blackberry raspberry bean dip...a manhattan staple and once you try it you'll understand why. It's so good sometimes I just order that. For your entree you can't go wrong with any of the tacos but my favorite are the carnitas and jap ras (secret menu) If you have time for a drink, try a Nancy (a Lucha staple) which is old Milwaukee and pineapple juice or get my favorite: the pirate Nancy which is the original Nancy with rum added, delicious! Got here on a busy friday night but passed the time with some delicious margaritas on the rock/salt, so tasty! Our party of 5 didn't have to wait too long. We sat at a cozy corner outside table by the fire place. I got comfortable with the blanket placed on the back of all the chairs. We came here with the kids who are going to KSU and teaching/coaching. They knew what to suggest. Started with Chipotle Raspberry black bean dip...what?? Yep and it was deliciously creamy, sweet and had a kick. I could of just had that for my meal. I ordered the Tinga and Slayer tacos...both were very tasty original flavored tacos. If you're only in Manhattan for a few hours or a few days, make time on your trip to eat and drink at Taco Lucha. EVERY single person I met from the city asked me if I was stopping to eat here, and I was so very glad I did. The decor is fun, modern, and inviting. The menu is full of different choices but also simple (they do a few things really well and don't expand upon their breadth too much). I started off with a drink mix of pineapple juice and Old Milwaukee - perfect for a hot summer day waiting for a seat (and had two more throughout the course of the meal). The friends who brought me here nearly demanded that we start with the chipotle raspberry and black bean dip, and it did not disappoint. The combination of sweet and spicy (with some cheese to cool the whole thing down) was lovely. I could have eaten it for a meal in and of itself! There was a ton of choices for a main course, and I went with a Cali Burrito, which did not disappoint. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Lucha Taters, which were lovingly cooked with veggies and pork and spices and deliciousness (it's an ingredient, I promise).
