Eat It OR Beat It? **EAT IT!!** So the past few weeks I have been having MAJOR Mexican taco cravings... and within the last 2 weeks, I've gone to 5 different taco spots: El Torito (NEVER), Matador Cantina (NEVER),Taqueria De Anda, Taqueria Mexico, , and today... TACO BOY! TACO BOY, you are amazing... and the friendly staff that works there... awesome dude! But that's not the first thing I judged this place by. I first read and heard about this place after a fellow Yelper, Chad A., had talked about his two favorite Taquerias: Taco Boy & Taqueria De Anda. Now, I had already tried Taqueria De Anda and thought it was delicious (4 stars) but when I read about Taco Boy, I knew I had to check this place out especially after looking at Chad A.'s photos!! What lured me to come here even more this Tuesday afternoon was Taco Boy's "Martes Taco's $0.75". I thought to myself... gee, tacos for $1 is what I am normally used to, but for $0.75 (NORMAL PRICES are $1.09)?? I don't know... sounds sketchy, but hell, who cares because the more downright G a Mexican place is... chances are it's AUTHENTIC! As my food idol, Mr. Bourdain says, "A little honest dirt is never an impediment to a great meal!" So my buddy and I, Christian I., went here and were greeted by a nice gentleman who after knowing it was our first time, recommended we try the Asada and Al Pastor. So, I decided to order: Tortillas: Of all the places I've tried these past few weeks, Taco Boy had the best tortillas, they were freshly warmed and slightly grilled on the flat iron grill and had a nice crunch on the sides. Asada: This was by far the best asada I've had on a taco... it was nice grilled and the meat was actual nice chunks... not diced to NOTHING. Al Pastor: WOW-E. Heaven, orgasmic, delicious, juicy, succulent, spiced, and marinated PERFECTLY! Christian I. and I just looked at each other and just said, wow. Impecable. Thus far, the BEST Al Pastor I've had and that's comparing to the tacos in L.A. too!; though I have yet to try King Taco! The marinated pork were actual chunks of pork and again, not finely diced! Carnitas: The BEST carnitas... it was shredded nicely and the tacos were stuffed and carnitas were not diced it was actually shredded... and best part... it had a nice crunch-lightly browned on the tips. Lengua: Nothing special. Just regular 'ole lengua. ONLY downsides: Salsa isn't as spicy as Taqueria Mexico. CONCLUSION: I CANNOT stress how great the quality of the tacos are here... they are NOT... I REPEAT, NOT cheap with their meat... it is ACTUAL chunks of meat that you get on your tacos and not diced to death kinda meat. The tortillas are grilled and warmed freshly and I just can't say enough great things. The man at the counter was awesome and open to criticism because he told us to let him know how it tasted and I sure as hell told him it was BOMB! Best part... service was friendly because he gave my buddy Christian I. a free horchata re-fill. Overall, Taco Boy is SPECTACULAR and you can't ask for a better Taco Tuesday deal at $0.75. So after reading the reviews on this place about the 75 cent Taco Tuesdays, I decided to give this place a try. Lucky me, this place is just around the corner from my place so I strolled over here this Tuesday and gave it a shot. I walked in and there were only a few patrons inside, and nobody in line so I got down to business right away and ordered 5 Carne Asada tacos, and 2 Al Pastor tacos. The total? 5 dollars and some change! That's amazing for some legit authentic tacos! I glanced around, and it's definitely not a place you'd want to take your date. Theres random mirrors placed around for decorations, and a TV playing novellas on Telemundo. This place is definitely a hole in the wall, but the tables and benches were clean from what I can tell. There is a salsa bar here that has pickled onions, pickled carrots, and a few different types of salsa, which is definitely a plus! I tried the pickled carrots, and the pickled onions, and they were great! It added a nice touch to the tacos, and I would recommend you try it. On to the tacos themselves, after only about a 5 minute wait, my tacos were ready, and they looked delicious! The tacos are your standard, with a little bit of onion and cilantro sprinkled on the meat, and they put they're spicy salsa on it which is really good! I found it just right with a nice kick but nothing over the top. I sprinkled some lime on all of my tacos, and took my first bite of the Al Pastor. It was DELICIOUS! The Al Pastor taco was very flavorful and yummy! I'd put it up there with the Al Pastor tacos I've tried. Next we move on to the Carne Asada. The Carne Asada taco was good, but not great. It wasn't as good as some of the better carne asada tacos i've had before, but it was still decent. I'd definitely say go for the Pastor tacos here, they really shine! Oh after I finished my tacos, this place started filling up and soon every table filled up. The workers were fast and efficient and got the line moving though so it's not a long wait. All in all, these tacos hit the spot, and for 75cents on Taco Tuesdays, you definitely CANNOT go wrong. My first impression was, "Small, local, hole in the wall taqueria." These are the types of restaurants that usually carry the best food. These hidden gems are the best because you may not know from the looks of it outside, but their food is what really brings consistent crowds of people inside. Simply said, the al pastor and the carnitas tacos does it for me.Add some salsa and escabeche...with a coke...and I am satisfied. Nothing says tacos like Carne Asada tacos. I'm a fan of tacos, especially carne asada, and I've been on a mission to find the best ones around me. I have to say these tacos are pretty darn good. They are moist and flavorful. And for $1.09 each, I can't complain. On Taco Tuesdays, all their tacos are a mere 75 cents. I also tried the Al Pastor and the Carnitas tacos, and by leaps and bounds, the carne asada is my favorite. They also have a little side cart with hot sauce, lemons, green sauce, carrots etc. I love their carrots here, they are crisp and are not too pickled. Went In for lunch today. The salsa bar was disgusting! Radishes and lemons days old. Carrots and onions same thing. The salsa bar was dirty full of splatters. If I hadn't ordered my food I would of walked out. Def losing business over sanitary issues. This location is giving Taco Boy a bad name. If you read my previous reviews for taco trucks and anything tacos... it's proven that my bf and I are obsessed with Tacos. My bf and I get excited whenever we see a taco truck or find a local authentic taco joint to eat. So when my GF Thao V. reviews Taco Boy; I was excited she found a joint for me to eat (after all, I was the one who nicknamed her 'Mexi-Mese'= Mexican/Vietnamese). I trust her taste buds; and this tells me I always should trust MY girl. This joint serves legit what she calls "dirty tacos". The carne asada was quite tasty, juicy, and the sauce they serve it with is PERFECT--reminds me of my Mexico trip in 2009 (even though I was drunk as hell, I remember the bomb ass tacos). I like the self serve salsa bar. Great addition!!! The guy who took our orders was very friendly and fast. There's no line but that's because those guys are quick on their orders. I went on Tuesday and left happy and satisfied. Taco boy has lived up to its expectations. Al pastor. Delicious. Asada DELICIOUS. The tortillas are crispy yet soft. The meat thick, marinated, REAL ANIMAL no skimping. Service? Phenominal. The place will look like one of those taquieras that would probably give you food poisoning or e-coli but don't be fooled! It's clean, bustling with the famous Mexican music and great food. I walked in thinking.. Shit.. this girl is probably going to be super impatient with me and probably think in her head, "why is this little asian girl coming here and not knowing what to get?" Nawww buddy. It was much different than that. This miss had a wonderful smile. She recommended the Asada and Al Pastor and that's what I got. When asked what I wanted to drink while I was shivering.. she simply said.. "Hey do you want to try [insert the hot cinnamony drink that I can't really pronounce]!?!" I said.. "YEA!" Cash only! This is a solid, authentic Mexican joint. Carne asada torta, chicken tacos, horchata are all perfect here. Enchiladas are not American Mexican restaurant style, they are traditional Mexican homestyle, just like my husband's mama makes, with queso fresco. Taco Boy is a relatively small taqueria in the not so nice area of Anaheim. Being the tough cookie that I am, the location didn't matter too much for me. It was, although, definitely a hole in the wall restaurant. I tried 4 different tacos at a little over a dollar each. The carnitas and carne asada tacos were average, the chorizo was dry, but the al pastor was very good. They also have a pineapple juice drink that is crazy refreshing. To wrap it up, not amazing but not bad. I will be coming back just because theyre open til midnight and for some more al pastor. read more

Taco Boy is the possible "as 'close' as it gets" El Taurino or King Taco of Orange County. It's a bit difficult to mimic the hot sauce at either of these locations-- the reason why everyone is so ecstatic about El Taurino or King Taco..THE SAUCE. However, for me, its more of the food. I think Taco Boy's sauce comes close. That's what you'll just have to take, being in Orange County, far away from LA Mexican food. Anyways....Taco Boy is yummy. Their Tostada is the best. I always get their carne asada tacos. However, don't get too eager to get their burritos, cuz they aren't that great. Best part about it is their condiment stand. Their deep fried jalapenos (yum), abundant amount of hot sauce ( you can get as many as you'd like togo), beets (good compliment to tacos since its so greasy, you want some sort of vegetable for texture), and their abundant amount of lemon/limes (their tacos NEED this citric taste within their tacos, so make sure you squeeze a good amount cuz it will taste MUCH better!). This is a review for the 895 S. Euclid location.....Fair or not, my taqueria experiences are all compared to the benchmark that is El Taurino or King Taco (my firsts). That being said, Taco Boy comes close enough and now I can save myself the trip to L.A. I ordered a chicken burrito (trying to watch the weight) and then...5 carne asada tacos (failed). Chicken portions in the burrito were bite sized which was refreshing. For some reason chicken always runs the risk of being lackadaisically chopped increasing the likelihood of dryness, which is a problem as it is especially with white meat. Not the case here. Very tender. What I liked about the carne asada tacos besides the savory meat were the warm and soft double tortillas. Fringes were not stale or crunchy. Could have been 5 stars because: prices ($1.09/taco), plenty of indoor seating, salsa/carrot/lime station, serves beer, open late on weekends Reasons why it is 4 stars: canned sodas only, limited parking, could use one or two pinches more of onion y cilantro, the tv indoors was showing a time-lapse of a decomposing animal and maggots. Good food with good friends. Nothing crazy. Got there at around 9 or 10 pm and was charged .95 per taco. As a poor and frugal colege stuent, I wanted to question the 10 cents since everyone on yelp has been raving about the 85 cent deal BUT the 'classy' part in me decided to keep it in because in the end..its only .10 cents. Both items were extremely bland and completely dry. We had our food delivered through uber eats and no salsa or hot sauce was provided to at least mask the awfulness of the food. Overall good experience. Got a variety of tacos, burrito and quesadilla. Burrito was good, juicy with boiled beans, smaller than most places like "de anda" and "triunfos". Tacos decent size, very large onions though Quesadilla was cheesy and had good amount of meat. Salsa had good taste, red and green selection. read more

I have made it my mission to try everything on the menu, except the fish of course (I don't like fish) The first time we were there I had the taco plate, I'm not a fan of beans from any place, except my Tia's kitchen, but I have to say these were very good, almost as good as my Tia's (Sorry Tia) My husband had the shrimp ceviche tostada and raved at how good it was. We also tried their tamales, the chicken was much better than the pork but all in all both were good and you didn't have to slave in the kitchen with all your comadres to make them, although you would miss out on the latest gossip.. We ate there and had a few beers, served in the bottle, which is always nice.. The next time we ate there I tried the burrito, filled with the typical stuff, meat, rice , beans and salsa, but this one had way more flavor, the meat was perfectly seasoned, there was not too much rice or beans with the perfect sprinkling of salsa, I would have to say the best burrito I have had. Didn't really like the canned soda but that is not a deal breaker for me. Next time I will try the tortas.. All in all the food is an excellent value, 2 people can eat there with drinks for $10-12.. that's a bargain in my book.. The only downer to this place is that it is CASH ONLY, so stop at the ATM before you get there. They do have one on site, but you will have to pay fees to use it. Maybe it results from its proximity, and maybe it results from my gluttony, but this joint works for good Mexican grub. It's like this - Mexican food is to victuals what irish pubs are to spirits. If a Mexican place can do the basics well, I don't care how florid and spectacular their menu is. I just want to eat, fast and cheap. That's me. Taco Boy defines the genre via simplicity. Plus Taco Boy delivers, and no, they don't deliver. But they deliver carne asada, tacos dorados, and menudo to their customers for a low price, politely, and without serving bad food. Their tacos and sides are genuine Mexican food, not Taco Bell pretense. The staff is quick and polite, as well as bilingual. My Spanish is good, but it's nice to know I can get proper mojarra frita without having to bust out my best Michoacán espanol. So, in Anaslime, it's easy as hell to find a quick bit to eat. But I respect and appreciate Taco Boy. When my wife and I plus my toddler can get tacos and sides plus leftovers for tomorrow's lunch for under $20, that's a place worth recommending. I approve of this joint. I especially recognize the asada fries. I'd kick somebody's ass to eat these fries. They are worth it at just over seven dollars. read more

Came here around 11:30pm after dropping by Disneyland for a quick jaunt with our Disneyland Passes with my bf and we were definitely hungry for something other than Disneyland food so we rushed over here per the recommendation of our fellow yelpers... Verdict? Thumbs down or in the middle, but part of it was the hype. I wasn't so impressed, but my disclaimer is that I don't eat beef or pork, and no one said the chicken was awesome. My bf said it tasted like it, but he couldn't tell either. I also shared a chicken quesadilla which was only average. He had Taco Tuesday special and ate 6 tacos... al pastor, carnitas and carne asada I think. He said that they were good, but not stellar. hmmm... Alright, I'm finally going to add a review for this place after going here for 3 straight taco tuesdays! This is seriously a great deal for Tuesdays because where else can you pay less than a dollar for a good taco with so many fixins' to choose from?! I love their al pastor and carnitas. Their asada is decent, lengua is alright if you like that kind of meat, tripe is a bit on the....tripe-y side....so if you like tripe, you'd probably like this. I have yet to try one of their drinks, but based on reading other reviews, even some of the bad ones, I think I should give it a shot! Positive: I was there on a Tuesday and 75 cent tacos are worth it. The tacos were made to order and fresh. The salsa was spicy but that is the way I like it. The service was good. They is a salsa bar that also has limes, chilies, and other condiments. Great place for an informal dinner. It stay open until midnight. Negative: There is no air conditioning, it was hot in there. We came here after Disneyland one time at around 11 pm. Most of these taco shops and taquerias are about a mile away from Disneyland where it isn't so populated. I found Taco Boy on Yelp and we decided to eat there. I didn't know that it was going to be in a little plaza off the main road. The place seemed pretty authentic and even had a cash wire transfer booth and ATM inside. They were playing Simpsons pretty loud on the speakers which was kind of cool. They also have a nice decorative Jukebox that works in the back of the store. We got the carne asada fries and the tacos dorados. The carne asada had french fries, carne asada, and sprinkled cheese on top. I thought it was going to be like other carne asada fries that come with guacamole, beans, sour cream, cheese, and rice, but I guess this was a more simple one. The fries were really crispy and you can definitely taste the potatoes. The tacos dorados were not bad also. The tacos dorados were three crunchy tacos filled with lettuce, carne asada, beans, cheese, and sour cream. It was pretty tasty but the shell seemed pretty oily at the same time. This place is my bf and I's go to taco place late at night. Sure it's a drive from where we live, but it's totally worth it!
