Dripping this on the chips and my Mexican rice was my favorite part of the meal, Guacamole - the fresh diced tomatoes and red onion added crunch and flavor which I really enjoyed. Salsa - I'm a little torn on this. The salsa was fresh and flavorful but there is a different flavor here that I can't put my finger on that tasted different from other Charleston area Mexican restaurants of tried when in town. I also ordered the combination taco plate with Birria taco and chicken tinga. I wasn't expecting sour cream in the chicken tinga taco so I couldn't finish that. I tried to eat around to get the chicken but the sauce was not very good. This didn't taste like chicken tonga and I wouldn't order it again. The Birria taco also did not taste like Birria that I've had. This was more like beef roast on a taco with toppings. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good but it also didn't come with consume which was disappointing. The sides were rice and beans and while they were ok, I was expecting more flavor and authentic Mexican cheese instead of the plain shredded cheese on top. This was very, very Americanized Mexican food but I think they know their audience. Whatever you do, don't order a Margherita from here. I should've learned my lesson about Charleston area Mexican restaurants the last time I was in town but unfortunately I thought it was just the other restaurant down the block. I'm convinced they use grain alcohol or some other very cheap liquor in these in some of the Mexican restaurants in the area. The flavor was way off and was definitely not tequila. I only had this drink on a full stomach and it gave me a headache and nausea the next day.

The restaurant itself is big and spacious with a large bar and lots of seating and a twelve table outdoor covered patio. I ordered the seafood enchiladas which are simply amazing!!! It's served with a side of cilantro rice, which is tasty in its own right. The service was impressive right from the start. I had a very nice and sincere hello and welcome at the front door. My server was attentive without being over bearing and and answered all of my questions. What it is is a damn fine representation of what it is trying to do. The complementary chips and salsa are surprisingly good, with the chips served warm and the salsa having a nice little bit of heat. The mains were unexpectedly good. Honestly, my bar was pretty low for Mexican food in WV. My Acapulco Cheesesteak was a gooey, sloppy delicious mess of grilled steak and onions swimming in a lagoon of lightly spiced queso sauce. The refried beans were excellent and may very well have been scratch-made. The Carne Asada was similar to the cheesesteak, just minus the cheese. The guac that came with wasn't bad at all. They serve Texas margaritas and I've seen smaller soup bowls. The regular size was more than enough and plenty strong. The staff is friendly and the restaurant looks like it might have once been a Chili's/Shoney's/Friday's etc. Plenty of parking, though, and a very short walk from the nearby motels.

Usually the small is cut into 6 slices. This was 4 slices and about 1/2 the size of usual. I brought it up to the waitress who then ARGUED with me that they just cut it different. There's no physical way this pizza could have been cut into 6 if they tried. It was a square version of the personal pan Pizza Hut pizza. I thought maybe they just didn't stretch the dough out- no- it was very thin. My guess is I got some end of the batch pizza. But today, i realize that in the last 4 years, the price I paid last night is what the large used to be. $17 was the price for my personal pan pizza last night...disappointed to say the least- I was looking forward to the fluffy Detroit style pizza and size I was accustomed to and left disappointed.
