Taqueria Guadalajara has a bit of a tucked away location just on the outskirts of Winchester,…read morewhich gives it that standalone, local spot feel. While having its own building is a plus, parking can quickly become a headache during busy hours, so timing your visit makes a difference. Walking in, there wasn't a host present, which made the entrance feel a little unorganized at first. However, a server quickly stepped in and pointed us in the right direction. From there, the experience improved the service was genuinely friendly and attentive, which helped set a positive tone for the meal. The burrito was the highlight. It came out well prepared with solid flavor throughout, even though it didn't include any sides. Normally, that might feel like something is missing, but the taste was good enough to carry the dish on its own. Pricing leans a bit on the higher side, which is something to keep in mind, especially given the lack of extras. Overall, Taqueria Guadalajara delivers where it matters most good flavor and friendly service even if it has a few logistical hiccups like parking and the initial lack of greeting. It's the kind of place that leaves you debating between a 4 and a 5, but the quality of the food ultimately pushes it into 5-star territory

Salsa continues to be delicious (albeit punishing the next day), and of my three tacos, carnitas was the only one to write home about. Pescado was fishy (not in the good way), and the al pastor was, again, just okay. Pointed out my chipped water glass to the server, who was apologetic and promptly replaced it. Best tacos in the area continue to be Los Altos de Jalisco in Winchester. I said what I said.

Welcome back, Hellbender's…read more... Probably a poor decision by previous owner to close this mountain goldmine. Given basic management skills, this burrito joint is a potential goldmine. Following a ski day, folks park all over the streets and line-up for a quick sandwich. Cold beer and a similar menu satisfy locals and skiers alike. Not much more in Davis competes with this hole in the wall. Dine in and take out keep this place open. Very small diner with awful layout - too bad new owners did not relocate to larger venue Recommend almost any burrito; add a giant pepperoni roll with cheese and peppers to the menu. There's upstairs seating and a handful of tables of different sizes in the front room. You're gonna feel awkward no matter where you want to stand in line to order. The guacamole is freshly made daily. It was a generous portion and better than I expected, if not a tiny bit under-salted. The chips were standard, it would really elevate things if they were made in house too. We had two hefty burritos that came out quick, and they didn't skimp on ingredients. The classic chicken burrito with cilantro lime rice, black beans, cheese and tomatillo hot salsa (3/5) and a specialty burrito "The Shovelhead" which was seitan in barbeque sauce with their horseradish coleslaw, rice, & cheddar jack cheese (4/5). It's worth noting that any burrito can be ordered as a bowl. The Shovelhead gets credit for uniqueness of ingredients, flavor profile, and overall it was texturally pleasing. Would order again! The chicken in my burrito was simultaneously a bit on the dry side, and the salsa was inexplicably sweeter than one would want a hot salsa to be. That said, I would totally order it again and make use of the hot sauces that were off to the side. I sadly didn't notice them until I went to bus my table :( the Frank's red hot on each dining table seemed a weird choice for the establishment so I was bummed to realize later that there were several other options (like cholula, el yucateco - both standard roja and verde) in a designated but easy to miss spot. Burritos are pretty much a main food group in our diet. We don't drink but there were some cool rotating taps. They had some other offering too, like kombucha and both sweet and unsweetened bottled tea. To sum it up, at $50 incl tip, this lunch for two was filling and perfectly acceptable.
