The beef crunchwraps come in a bag like this.

I haven't had Taco Bell in years, and now I remember why, lol. I recently had the Beef Crunchwrap Supreme and it was mostly tortilla shell, sour cream, and lettuce. Where's the beef? Lol. Look at my picture, looks nothing like the advertisement. Ottawa does not have many Taco Bell locations, I think we only have 3. This one is a free standing store combined with a KFC. So as a kid, Taco Bell was my first exposure to "Mexican food" (yeah, I know, Taco Bell is not real Mexican food, hence the quotation marks), and my second exposure was Dainty "Mexican Rice" you know, the rice in a can, that you get at the grocery store, haha. Taco Bell was kind of all I knew when it came to tacos and I enjoyed it for what it was. But now that I've had real Mexican food, much better Tex-Mex, and all sorts of tacos, authentic and fusion, I can't say that Taco Bell is all that tasty. However, it reminds me of my youth, and that counts for something in my books (rightly so or not), so 3 stars, even though the taste is closer to 1.5-2 stars. I really only ate Taco Bell recently because my brother ordered from them through UberEats, as UberEats was having a buy one get one free special and he had some special offers on top of that. My brother is super sweet and often gets food for our family, which I am appreciative of, regardless of the actual taste of the food :) He got 12 (!) Beef Crunchwrap Supreme. This actual item is newer and not from my childhood, but the mushy ground beef and the other "Taco Bell" flavours it had were, haha. So first off, there was so little beef. I literally had bites with absolutely no meat. The meat was so little to begin with and it was not evenly distributed. Way too much sour cream for my liking. I mostly tasted sour cream, tortilla wrapping and lettuce. The regular price for these Beef Crunchwraps Supreme is $5.49 each. If I had paid that, I would have been miffed. Even at $2.75 each, I wasn't thrilled (even though technically, my brother paid for it). I think I'll pass on this item in the future. If I am truthful with my own feelings, I'd say that if I want some fast food Mexican, I would personally much rather go to one of the other chains like Chipotle, Mucho Burrito or Bar Burrito (I would not go to Quesada though, my experiences with the food there have not been good, lol). The only thing that would draw me to Taco Bell is nostalgia, which depending on the day, may win out or not. This location is in a plaza. The parking lot is a bit chaotic, but there's free parking.

Nachos supreme made to perfection!? I think so!!!!

The Long Version: When I first learned about The Tortilla Maker, they only sold plain tortillas for you to take home and make your own meals and also salsa. I wasn't particularly interested. However, I discovered that they recently started selling ready-to-eat tacos and also premade tamales. So I went to check it out. I got 3 tacos: chicken, beef and pork. They were $3.25 each. If you buy 3 tacos you get a free mini salad. I also got 2 tamales: chicken and pork. They were $6.25 each. The tacos were small but tasty. I put some of the shredded cabbage with tomatoes in the tacos, as well as the green salsa that the tacos came with. I enjoyed the tacos and would get them again. The tamales were ok, but a bit small and I feel the tacos are more bang for my buck. Service was pleasant and courteous. The store is spacious, well lit and clean. I liked that the man serving me wore gloves and a hairnet. The store is in the same building as a medical clinic that does ultrasounds and other diagnostic tests. There's free parking in the shared parking lot. Since the medical clinic is busy, it's hard to find parking. (167)

The menu is a lot simpler, and they are just selling tacos, churros, chips and gauc and some drinks. The hubby and I both got a set of 4 tacos each and a side of churros. I ordered 3 fish and one vegan, but they packed in a beef one instead. I don't eat beef, so my loss, and hubbies gain. The hubby got a fish, jerk, beef, and pork. He loved them all, but was meh about the beef, as it was not as colorful looking as the rest. I thought all my fish tacos were fantastic. The tacos also came with lemon, and lime and a side of hot sauce, which was super flavorful and not too hot. I wanted to try the chips and gauc but they were sold out. Churros delish and I really enjoyed the chocolate sauce for dipping. It would be awesome if they had a caramel sauce as well. Opening up the new sleek black packaging made me extremely happy as well. The tacos were so bright and colorful. Seriously, go look at the pics I uploaded of the tacos...WOW! Everything was packed with so much care. This would have been a solid 5 star for me, but again, they gave me a beef taco instead of the requested vegan taco. 4.5 stars.

The Steak Tacos are my absolute fav! I order my steak medium-rare then I add queso fresco, avocado, fire roasted salsa, crema and pickled onions. Did I mention that all toppings are free?! That's right - even cheese and avocado! That's pretty rare to find these days! Also worth mentioning are the Beer Battered Fish Tacos at La Ha. My hubby always orders them because he loves them so much. They're made perfectly every single time. We've also tried their Agua de Sandía and Horchata - both were excellent! If you're in the mood for always fresh and always delicious tacos, you need to check out this place! Note: La Ha Tacos also recently introduced new menu items like their Nachos, Taco Salad and Queso Cheese in case you prefer something other than Tacos.

The hubby, kid…read moreand I spontaneously drove up to this food truck Monday afternoon to grab a couple tacos. This food truck is located in a car wash parking lot in Orleans, with not a whole lot of parking. We arrived during lunch, around 11:50. Big mistake, I guess? There were maybe 5 people in line, so we decided to wait it out. It could not be that long right? The hubby waited in line while I waited in the car. It took him about 10 minutes to place his order. I believe it was somewhere around 12:09 where he came back to the car and said it would probably be around 15-20 minutes for the food. I contemplated him driving us back home and then him heading back for the food but we decided to just wait it out in case it was ready earlier than expected. I've never been to this place before, and did not do much research beforehand, but if I knew this place is known for the long wait times, I most likely would have skipped coming here, or just ordered online, which a lot of people were doing. That may have caused a back log of orders. Online orders, telephone orders and in person orders for a small food truck, with 3 people working....that is a lot of pressure, and it kind of screws over the customers placing orders in person. Fast forward to a screaming toddler, a person waiting in their car eyeing me for our parking spot (for 20 minutes...eyeroll), and a very slow food truck, we FINALLY got our tacos at 12:45pm. On to the food...everything is made in house, from the chips to the toppings. All platters come with 3 tacos, side of chips and salsa. You are able to add additional free toppings to your tacos like salsa, cabbage, avocado, ect. I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing so. I ordered the fish tacos, and the hubby ordered the pork. He noted that his pork was pretty dry and wish he added salsa to his tacos. Although, he did say they were good (but again, not wait 45 minutes good). My fish tacos were pretty flavorful, but I ran into the same problem with them being dry. The first taco I found the fish on the drier and chewier side. The other two were fine. It came topped with a crema sauce so that helped a bit.The chips were really good, and addicting. Their salsa that came with the chips was awesome and a pretty nice portion. The tacos itself are about 3 bites. The tacos were good, but waiting 45 minutes at a food truck is inexcusable, and left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not rush back, but this place is not a write off, because the tacos were good. Do yourself a favor and call in your order.
