This might just be the best Mexican food I've had in Australia. My friends and I ordered (tortilla) chips with salsa, two crunchwraps with beef at medium spicy, a chicken quesadilla, and frozen Solo. A lot of the chips were stuck together which made for some difficult eating, but they had a nice dusting of some spice or flavor on them which was different than I'd expected; also a healthy portion of them when included as part of the meal. The crunchwraps were excellent, with much higher quality ingredients than I expected to find, but had some critical differences from their American counterparts. First, they did not have processed (nacho) cheese in them. Second, the beef wasn't totally drained, which made for a bit of a mess as you neared the end of the serving. When the crunchwrap was originally introduced in the States, it was advertised as the Taco Bell product you could eat while driving, but the Australian crunchwrap sacrifices roadworthiness for taste. I guess this is a good thing as we should all take the time to enjoy our food and eat more slowly, but sometimes you've gotta eat on the run. My friend had the chicken quesadilla and it again lacked the nacho cheese we'd expected (it had real cheese instead) and was also served really oddly, folded over itself a few times. My friend didn't really find it that good. The frozen Solos were a delicious treat though and surprisingly inexpensive. From the perspective of overall experience, my friends ordered their meals as takeaway but it was served to stay, but before we'd left the table busser came by and asked how everything was (while she helpfully cleared our table for us). We said things were ok, and she later came back to ask if she could offer us some churros or something and get our feedback on what we didn't like. This was a really wonderful surprise that you'd never see in an American Taco Bell - while the States will correct a problem and often go out of their way to completely resolve it (a store once redid an entire drive through order for us because they'd forgotten several items and we had to drive back), they typically won't proactively ask and offer to fix an issue, so this was a very pleasant surprise. read more
