Interesting how there isn't a review yet for this place…read more My family has been coming here for years, especially my parents. The Chinese food here is authentic Cantonese style. My parents like to order their steamed fish which isn't cheap but it is so good. The "sang choy bao" or lettuce wraps are really good, very flavorful, and there usually isn't enough of it to go around. I want at least 2 cups but usually, there is only 1 for each person. The thin fried noodles (vegetarian) -- "see yau wong chow meen" -- is stellar! Perfectly dry like it should be and flavor-packed. The only thing I didn't love was the crispy skin chicken. The skin wasn't really crispy. Each time I go home, this is one of those restaurants where we will go for at least one meal. It's good to know that it's remained consistent through the years.

Here's why: - Warm welcome from the charming and funny manager upon entry. - Were introduced to George the fish (we sat next to his tank). - Very friendly, smiling wait staff had nice chats with us whenever they brought something to the table. - Complimentary prawn crackers were served as a starter while we perused the menu. - They make the best salt and pepper tofu ever (speaking as someone who doesn't usually like tofu). - Delicious braised chicken with cashews and sizzling Mongolian beef. Best in town! - Nice atmosphere and full of happy diners having the best time!

Love, love love Suncrop. Love it so much hubs & I travel from Banyo all the way to Sunnybank…read more Friends from North Lakes love it equally as much enough to make the drive. We spend every Christmas Eve here as a bit of a family tradition. We introduce all our international visitors to Suncrop because it's such a hidden culinary gem. DISCLAIMER: The owner of Suncrop (Robert, aka Asian Johnny Depp according to my aunt) is a personal friend of the hubs. Should / Does that cloud my review? Not a chance, bucko. Robert knows we will always be honest & direct with him about our experience in his property, as we are here on Yelp with any review. However, if you choose not to read on, I understand and won't be offended. My #1 recommendation: Go the Peking Duck. Everytime. Not only is it brilliant value ($48 for a whole duck - serves 4), it's goddamn delicious. It's made fresh daily. Whatever ducks they do not sell on the day to their own patrons are on-sold to other venues. So, you're assured optimal taste, texture & juicy-ness. Hubs & I travelled to China in 2012 and visited a traditional Roast Duck house in Beijing and the quality we received there was NOTHING compared to SunCrop. Recommendation #2: Ask for the Spicy Silken Tofu & Crispy Noodle dish. I can not remember the name of this dish & wouldn't be able to find it on the menu, but it is there and available and so very yummy. Robert personally introduced us to this dish 7 years ago and I'm so glad he did. This is the only tofu dish my chef-husband will eat. Yay tofu! Recommendation #3: Ask the staff if there are any specials. They often purchase fresh seafood and have "off-menu" dishes for a limited time. Most recently, this included the most fragrant and divinely steamed Tasmanian scallops served on the shell. Recommendation #4: Book a table. We have not ever been to Suncrop when it was not busy. Hubs reckons we're on to a winner with Suncrop because it's filled with Sunnybank locals (read: not many westerners). Also, if you're planning to order the duck for a dinner meal, book-in for the duck because they do sell-out. If you've read this far, I do hope you'll give Suncrop a try. I've never been disappointed, always delighted.

Maybe it's because it sounds like a bank, but Suncrop has never been my favourite restaurant…read moreoption. The couple of times I've considered going, I've been put off by the pushy wait staff trying to usher me inside before I've even contemplated the menu at the door. On top of this, the decor looks like a worn out suburban Chinese restaurant stuck in the nineties. However, I'd heard rumours that their mud crab was fantastic so decided to make a mid-week visit. We ordered the Singapore chilli crab with e-fu noodles, Peking pork spare ribs, Black bean beef and springrolls. Despite its name, the chilli crab wasn't spicy at all although the noodles were delicious. The other dishes too were full of flavour. On the down side, the service can be hit and miss. We had to ask for the bill three times - plus the crab had to be paid for in cash and they refused to issue a receipt. I know a lot of Asian restaurants have a cash only policy, but I'm pretty sure they need to provide a receipt if requested.
