Haoke Yum Cha Restaurant review
I visited Haoke Yum Cha on 24 March 2016 around lunch time. We had multiple meals brought out to the table, and they rolled out in courses. The facilities were hard to access if you didn't know where to go such as for the bathroom, you had to enter out through a heavy door and walk through a hallway then turn right to get to the bathrooms. This would not be convenient for someone who may be in a wheelchair or someone with a disability. The conditions of the toilets overall were disgusting. There were massive mosquitos flying around that had possibly bitten others before you walked in there, it was air conditioned more than the building itself, when I went in there, someone hadn't flushed previously.
The style of the eating area was classy but modern, it was also very stylish. The décor of the restaurant was modern and trendy; I really felt like I was in a modern Chinese restaurant. The tables had table cloths that were gold with intricate patterns with other subtle colours. Also, on the tables there were Lazy Susans; which I noticed were dirty underneath and on the glass bit that spins. It was very noisy and from where I was sitting, I could hear talking in the kitchen and throughout the restaurant. The service at the restaurant was slow at first, but as time went by; it got quicker. The customer service was good; the waitresses were all smiles and were happy and friendly. When someone at my table asked if we could get a new jug of water, it was never delivered.
The menu contained a variety of foods, majority including seafood or meat. They had meals such as fried rice, beef stir fry, pork balls, spring rolls, and chicken feet and for a dessert; it was mango sorbet just to name a few. My favourite dishes were the fried rice, the mango sorbet and the pork balls. I believe that it isn't somewhere a vegetarian would eat; because it is a seafood based restaurant. If you were really into seafood; then this would be a great place to go. It is close to public transport as there is a bus stop right out the front. The dress code was a mixture of fine dining and casual dining. There was no one in suit and ties, but some people were dressed in more of a laid back but nicely dressed style. I would not go back there again purely for the reason that I am not a seafood fan but if I was; then that would definitely be a nice place to go for a meal out. Overall, I rate the restaurant a 3 out of 5. The customer service was nice, friendly and except for the seafood incident, it was a lovely experience. read more
