Oishii has been around for years and there's a reason for that - because it is that good!…read moreEverything is made to order as there kitchen is open - And I love it because everything tastes so fresh and good quality. Not even kidding but I have Oishi's phone number saved for ease of access to make reservations whenever my friends and family are craving good sushi. That's when you know it's a definite go to ! They don't mess around with silly western flavors or fusions - their menu is quite traditional Japanese. You can order sushi, noodles, side dishes, rice dishes here which is great if you're not feeling just sushi. They offer fresh sashimi and fried sushi rolls too which is so yummy. Had the udon noodles for the first time rather than just the sushi and I was so pleased it was so simple but executed well.

With sushi rolls like the 'Dragon Roll' and the 'Spider Roll' you can't help but wonder, mmm yummy…read more So this Japanese joint is a little pricey, but the sushi's are pretty big, and made fresh by the guys wearing the chef hats behind the counter. I'm a big fan because.. 1) This place has A&W Rootbeer (woohoo, go the asian in me) 2) This place has green tea ice cream 3) This place serves up a mean agedashi tofu (om nom nom nom) My weakness for agedashi tofu was realised here along with my weakness for the seaweed salad, potato salad and edamame. Oh the edamame. So much of it. In fact the Yakitori Chicken is pretty good too, so is most the stuff on the entree section of the menu. Damn this place! So our bill did come up to a whopping $80 for the 4 of us... but we left there feeling satisfied, feeling like we would come back and feeling like we wouldn't be sick the next day - which is always a good thing. Definetely going back there.

I had the chicken yakitori don (rice bowl) for takeaway the other day because I've never had…read moreyakitori before and I was curious. Firstly, it's a pity this is such a small shop with no proper seating areas for those wanting to eat "in." I've put speech marks in that because the seating area is actually outdoors as the place is a kiosk. There's really only room for maybe four people to sit there. Secondly, I LOVED the yakitori! The rice bowl had seaweed and spring onions and yakitori sauce, which was a savoury sweet and addictive flavour. So yum. And at $8.50, it's definitely a bargain. I really wish they had a bigger space. An actual restaurant so people can sit comfortably. I would definitely go back again to try out other things on the menu.

I've said it before but I'll say it again. This shop has the wrong feng shui. All the other…read moresuccessful eateries at Warrigal Square face inwards forming an informal outdoor food court along the main strip of Warrigal Square. Nikumaki Honpo has a little shop front which faces onto the parking lot. Even all the signs pointing people in its direction doesn't direct as much traffic here as this little shop deserves. It also doesn't help that they sell obscure parcels of deliciousness called Nikumaki. What is that you ask. Well, they're oven baked steamed rice balls wrapped with marinated slices of pork. They really are delicious though not as practical to eat as a sushi roll. One roll makes a decent lunch and at $4 each, it's a bargain price. Make sure you ask for the free chilli and coriander toppings. Simply delicious! Warning: Nikumakis are baked regularly and come out of the oven piping hot. Be careful not to burn yourself.

Have been going to this place for years, and all of my family goes. Probably go about once every…read moretwo weeks. I am a miso soup fan and have one every time. Generally is quite good, well flavoured, plenty of vegetables and a decent sized small bowl. Last week, it was the first thing I ordered. It came quite quickly, before my wife's first couple of aburi. Without a joke, there was about 1 centimetre of miso in the bottom of the bowl. It was incredulous. Taste was fine but about 5 spoonfuls finished it. Though I was ordering more, I cancelled them and left. A long term customer bringing the family on a regular basis, and they often go separately now, and that is what you get! Seriously, blame the server, the weather, whatever - it was a joke. Same big urn in the back right hand corner that it comes out of - how can someone serve such a paltry amount and think that is ok? Wife's was fine but I don't put up with absolutely disgraceful service like that. Was suggested to me to go tonight, but there is no way I am going back until I am sure they have picked up their game. Reminded me to highlight the poor service I received.

I have to confess...I go here way too often. This is my go to sushi train place ! (Sorry Sushi Train, I cant afford your $5.60 per plate aburi sushi x 2 lol) But yeah, this place can satisfy a lot of your Japanese cravings. They offer a variety of sushi train sushi, udon, ramen, sizzling platters, sashimi, mochi, cheesecake, sodas & Japanese alcohol. I ate here recently & their sashimi was fresh, their food was hot & fresh & the sushi ordered was 10/10 no faults. Everything is ordered by touch screen too. Yes staff are busy at times because this place is always packed. Expect lines at dinner time no doubt.
