Ordered two Star Rod Extra Heavy Paraflex conventional rods with limited lifetiem warranties. Both blanks have snapped in half fighting big fish. When I contacted Star Rods/Calcutta there is no response at all. I have filed 3 claims using their online form with not a single response. Items listed as in-stock are not... Not the first time I made an order only to learn weeks later.... after they charged my card.... for items listed as the in stock were in fact "out of stock." Not only a big waste of time but a ruined fishing trip to boot. Had they indicated those items were out of stock, I could've gotten them elsewhere and been ready for my fishing trip. I can only speak to the online ordering. My wife and I both placed orders last week, for items said to be in stock and would be delivered within a couple of weeks. We received emails, immediately after our orders were confirmed, that the items are on back-order. The time-frame given for delivery is after the fishing trips we've planned. If they do not show up prior to our travel, I will have to buy rods and reels on the way to the Gulf. I'm praying that this is not the case, as these were great deals we received on this equipment. I see a lot of people complaining about delays, and it seems to be only with the online orders. I won't trash talk these folks. For I don't know them and they don't know me. So, maybe there is a disconnect between your physical inventory department and the info that shows online as "in stock". Went to get some more surf fishing gear the other day, at their flagship store. I asked for help, and Brendan stepped in right away. I had questions about everything, from lures to reels, to rods. Brendan provided me with unsolicited information, about all of my possible purchases. He helped me realize that I was doing most of my fishing, in the way I should be doing it. I greatly appreciated the manner in which he was able to steer me, particularly to an awesome, Tsunami two piece surf rod. It is light weight, and easier on my wallet. I was walking through the store like Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School amassed a decent amount of goods about $1500 worth of items including a travel rod, Shimano bait-caster, combo $450, $120 + $90 flip flops, $90 shoes, $230 Costa shades & $280 Maui Jim's I was about to look for fishing lures and I'm informed they can't find the case for the Maui Jim's. I figure big deal just give me a Maui Jim case from another pair instead of the crappie salt life case you were trying to give me right? No that would just "postpone the problem" says the manager. The very short conversation with the actual store manager revealed he was a true moron and was clueless to a customers wants and overall service. BTW, I've been an online customer for the past 2 years probably spent about $2,000 over that time. So instead of just giving me the case for my Maui Jim's he doesn't budge and I cancel everything except the pair of sandals I was already wearing. At least $1,500 gone probably more with the tackle I was going to buy. And I'll never buy online from them either. Basic customer service should be a given. After waiting three weeks the flush mount tackle boxes are great, one of the boxes trim showed up broke due to UPS mishandling the package(looked like they used it as a soccer ball). I was told by Tackle Direct that I would have to wait until a shipment of new boxes came in (3 weeks) so I contacted Deep Blue direct and they sent out the replacement piece that day. The customer service rep for Tackle Direct sounded irritated that I called to get a replacement and questioned the 3 week delivery expected. Ordered a fishing pole on 6/4/2020. They immediately charged my account then proceeded to claim that my order had shipped on 6/5/2020. Not true! It sat in egg harbor for days. My repeated efforts to reach them went under answered. I was trying to tell them that they forgot to put the street name on the address they provided to USPS. I then contacted several USPS offices to see if I could remedy the situation. Not much luck. So I called my credit card company and reported my problem and asked them to refund my purchase. Still no response from Tackledirect. Unbelievably the rod appeared on 6/12/2020. I no longer want the rod but I can't return it because I can't get Tackledirect to answer my emails and provide me with a Return Merchandise Authorization as per their website. On July 20, 2020 placed an order for an expencive fishing rod and reel combo. TackleDirect charged my account immediately and sent an email confirming my order. The reel was shipped on July 22, 2020 (two days after they collected money). For the rod they only created a shipping label with USPS, but did not ship it. Their online system does not show any progress and says that my order in in process. Their phone number is not working. I send them email to sales@tackledirect.com but did not get any reply. Their chat system says they will reply in few hours but it does not work. Five days after I got a reel and tried to receive an email I decided to visit their store in person and return the combo although I never got a rod. Nonetheless I returned the reel and explained that USPS never got a rod for shipping. They insisted that the rod is in transit and did not refund my order. As of August 7, 2020 I dis not get my refund, the USPS system shows that the rod was not submitted for shipping. Very weird store and horrible customer service. Beware! read more

This company takes orders hoping vendors will have a product vs in store and if they don't the excuse game begins. It seems they are in the rears with a load of merchants and these merchants wont supply until paid. Some wont do business anymore yet the products they offer are listed for sale. lol!!!! So back order is really did not pay and need to build enough business to pay off back debts hoping the merchant will do business . You might be waiting months. Now if the place has it in stock and can actually package it and send you might have a chance but even here its a crap shoot what might show up. Could be both good or bad. Might get a very expensive product while ordering something much cheaper or the the reverse where you paid up the A-hole and get a piece of crap you never ordered. Logistically not sure how this company was still functioning with online orders and still in business. prices were not much cheaper than competent merchants. Found tackle warehouse and they shipped /delivered the longest being a week for which they apologized and gave me a nice discount on additional merchandise. I got an email that the line shipped but the reel was on back order.... no biggie.... late the following week I email them to find out the status and get no reply... I email 2 more times the following weeks spacing out my emails for the status and never got a reply. I finally decided after a month to just cancel my order and of course later that exact same day after I already emailed them to cancel the order I get an email that my reel shipped.
