I left Taboo Tulum underwhelmed and I can't seem to put my finger on why. I believe it may not have lived up to the hype that read about online prior to our dining experience. I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Sure, it has a beach vibe. There is live music; that night there was a violinist. We stood on the chairs briefly and clapped. But it felt forced. The servers were great dancers though! The food was okay, not memorable but the price was steep. I probably won't return if I was given the choice. Overpriced and overhyped.
I had gone to the Cancun location and had a blast! I had heard how much fun people had at the Tulum location that I was ready to see for myself! It was 1:30pm on a Sunday and basically nobody was there. I had spent $100 on three drinks, that tasted just okay. Had been consistently harassed by workers for us to pay the 2,500 pesos per person to move to the beach, despite expressing how we didn't want to. If you want the hype and to spend your money on just the brand, go on over! There are plenty of other beach clubs better than Taboo.
Living in the life, I then overworked correctional officer. It was good to appreciated by a restaurant at 10 o'clock at night! I recommend this location due to the fact it was fun. It was flirty and it provided exactly what I needed tacos drinks and great ambience. The service was very good and at the end of the night I was receiving free shots free drinks by staff and guess.
Amazing service and amazing food. Yovani and Agustin took great care of us. We went down to the beach and they stood next to our items to make sure no messed with them. It's started raining and they immediately took us in side so I didn't get wet then when it stopped raining they made sure our table was dry and sat us right back down. They Pulled my chair out every time I got up. So attentive and sweet. Highly recommend sitting in their section.
We celebrated my friend's birthday here on a Wednesday evening, at 7pm, in April. The restaurant is definitely a vibe, it's beautifully decorated but wear shoes you can walk up a rocky hill in. Lol. We could hear the dj as we walked up , he was amazing but to our surprise the restaurant was practically empty and it's very dark, I needed the light on my phone to read the menu We all ordered a suggested drink, The Alchemist, we were not impressed. I kept my drink but my friends ordered another drink, and again they were not impressed. Taboo provides a complimentary plate of pita, sundried tomatoes coated with pesto, olives , peppers stuffed with goat cheese , onion dip and olive oil. It was delicious Prior to receiving the complimentary table set I ordered the Mediterranean plate, a similar dish with pita bread, hummus , spicy feta cheese and tzatziki. Again this was delicious. On open table I saw a branzino entree I was excited to order , unfortunately it wasn't available but the salmon I ordered was delicious. The portion size was much larger than I expected it to be and it was seasoned and flambéed perfectly. I still dream about that salmon. The birthday girl ordered lamb chops and a side of mashed potatoes . Again the portion sizes are much larger than expected. She said I'm so full but I can't stop eating this lamb. Lol. Our other friend has shellfish allergies, unfortunately she didn't have a lot of options, she ordered the appetizer salmon tacos and a Greek salad . Both dishes were delicious. The salad was huge, between the three of us we could only finish half of the salad. As we were preparing the leave our amazing server and his colleagues came out dancing with sparklers and dessert to celebrate my friend's birthday . It was so sweet. In total our bill was $410, tip included. Walking down that hill , in heels, after drinks was a bit scary but we made it . Lol Ohhhh I should mention No one offered us drugs . Lol
Top-notch service at Taboo Tulum -- every staff member was warm, professional, and made the experience unforgettable. The ambiance is chefs kiss, light for the day but I'm sure it gets packed. Celebrated a birthday and they were so sweet to the birthday girl! Claps, love and a free shot! Truly the best!
Taboo is taboo. The vibes at Taboo were undeniable but I can't say my experience justified the costs. Taboo is definitely targeted at tourists which wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't so expensive - fries were $21 USD. Potatoes. $21. The pros: Very nice service. The music and violinist were excellent. 5/5 They provided us with a complimentary appetizer (Mediterranean plate 5/5) and a dessert for birthdays which was really nice. The portions for the shareable items were large which I greatly appreciated. We tried: - Shrimp appetizer served over quinoa 5/5 - the catch of the day which a white fish with roasted potatoes. It was cooked well (hello crunchy skin) but this was very mid flavor wise for $60 a squeeze of lemon helped. 3/5 Honestly wish I would have read reviews before but it was recommended by someone and booked initially by another friend. I wouldn't recommend.
I came here about 17 hours after going to Taboo Cancun. Two completely different experiences. This one had more of a party vibe--outside by the beach, with a DJ, lots of hookah, VIP sections, and people having a great time dancing and getting super drunk. The food was good; I had the seafood spaghetti. If you like spice, you'll love it. I also had about five Alchemist drinks. I was drinking that one all last night at Taboo Cancun, so I figured I'd keep it going. Overall, it's a great spot to go with a group,, because it's a fun, lively vibe. Service on the other hand not as good as Taboo Cancun. Long wait time and you might not see your waiter for 20 mins at a time. If I'm in Tulum , I'll definitely stop here again if I'm with a group.
I heard day clubs are the place to be when in Tulum and since it was my birthday I had to check out Taboo. This is a completely difference experience than Vegas day clubs. You are immersed in the jungle with the ocean at your fingertips. Entrance was $150 usd per person but half of it was used towards your table service. It was a blast and hopefully some of these photos will show you that. Everyone just wanted to have a good time and it's great for bachelor/ette parties. As you will be drinking, I recommend getting a taxi or private driver. Make sure you bring your sunscreen and drink lots of water to hydrate. One of the best birthday parties I've had and would definitely come back!
Taboo in Tulum is the ONE. Came here for a bachelorette party of ten. I will never forget how fun it was. Ambiance was crazy, but in the BEST way. The night started off with the amazing staff who greeted us. We were personally escorted to our table. Vibes were already high. Started off with tequila being poured into our mouths. Followed by more drinks. Ceviche: 10 out of 10 recommend. Best ceviche I've ever had. Spicy seafood pasta hit the spot too. I will say, these portions are huge and definitely shareable between two people. A violinist came out and serenaded my bestie bride to be along with another future bride. They handed us sparklers and it was a crazy fun party the entire time. Definitely set the bar high for future Mexico trips. We came here for dinner. I want to try coming back during the day because this restaurant sits on the beach.
I ran into this place walking down the beach as it looked like it was the livest spot around midday. I walked up to the wait stand to get me a spot either on one of the beach beds or somewhere near their pool. Pricing was a bit wild for the pool area in which it would make since for a group. I was solo and spending about $400 didn't make sense for me lol. The staff at front can be a bit slow taking money and getting people moving. They do not allow water being brought in from outside because they sell pricey water. There is also a store at the front selling swimwear/beachwear in which you will see some of the staff advertise on the beach. Got myself a bed on the beach and it was pretty cool. My server was a very nice guy and recommended the lobster tacos. they were a little spicy but the flavor didnt all the way do it for me. the pina colada and mai tai was pretty good though. They told the night scene was very cool in which I intended on coming back for but got lazy and stayed in my local city center area by the time nightfall came. I bet its lit as hell at night because its pretty lit during the day. I enjoyed it. read more

I'll start off strengths based. The place was absolutely beautiful and the drinks were delicious. The friends who went with me raved about the salmon burger so maybe get that. As a vegetarian, there is nothing good to eat so prepare for cute atmosphere and drinks and then eat later. Taboo is higher end so prepare to spend cash for the experience. Later in the evening, a violinist came out and started the party so this place overall is lots of fun. The cons: the servers post up behind you and it feels like they are hovering. The servers also didn't want to split the check so it's difficult to tally up bills and check out. Vegetarian options are no good. I had the ravioli. It was a ton of sauce and like 3 noodles. The Greek salad was all tomatoes no beware. Would I go back, absolutely! But after I've eaten a good meal. read more

This place is beautiful. It was my first time visiting Tulum so it was great being able to have reservations for this place. I love how they have the water with grapes table side. Very luxurious. The drinks were beautiful and they tasted interesting. The food was my least favorite part. I think our favorite item was the shrimp. The service was ok. The man waiting on us did not understand the concept of personal space. He was inches from our faces when talking. At the end of the night he told my fiancé to tip him a crazy amount: I honestly would not come back to this place as it was only to see what the hype was about. I'm sure there are better & more affordable places near by. read more
Food was great! Service was great! I walked here from my beach villa at Coco Talum and arrived to find a dj that was playing familiar music, they had hookah, and it was beach front. You pay per table to be on the beach but since this was a solo travel I was on on the covered deck. Everyone was popping bottles, dancing, eating and drinking. The vibe was lit. The only thing that I can say is WTF is a hookah $150 - $180? Like I live in Atlanta... We hookah... that is not normal omg... I still bought it though lol, eh. Came here for a birthday celebration. The venue has the best views from wherever you're seated. We reserved our spot a few weeks before. We ended up getting bottle service and sushi/small bites. Everything was delicious. We ended up staying there most of the day. Our servers were extremely helpful and attentive. They made sure we had the best time possible. read more

Generous 3 star because the entertainment is enjoyable but something is not quite right with the food. This was my second time visiting this place and the first time I remember being exceptionally sick for whatever reason. I blamed it on being in Mexico and probably having done something wrong. Upon my second visit I brought my family and again I was stupendously sick. It was the same sickness all over again and I had a completely different order this time. So not sure what it is but this was my last visit. I hate this because the vibes can be a lot of fun. They do have amazing entertainment lined up including a violinist that comes at night and the music gets pretty turnt as well. Do note: I highly recommend going somewhere else if you're going to be in a large group. They do NOT split the tab and it's very hard to understand who is paying for what considering it's not in dollars and only one card can be used for payment. Heed my advice here. Don't ruin your night by trying to calculate it up. read more
the vibe was everything, the tiger shrimp was awesome and the bread they brought out. We paid $2200 for a section for 8 people. We were able to get $1000 in food and drinks out of that! The waiter promised to keep track of our spending, but somehow we went $500 over so $1500 for 2 bottles of watered down liquor and some food. Wasn't a bad deal... 4 stars because we got 2 bottles of Don Julio with mixed and I firmly believe they mixed the bottles with something such as water. None of us were even tipsy off of 5 drinks and shots. None of us! Otherwise, it is a must visit for sure just for the experience. It's so many other beach clubs out there that I'm sure is cheaper! read more
OMGG!!!!!!! All the foods that we ordered was SO YUMMY!!! This place is literally a beach club. Not a good place if you want to talk to anyone or catch up. The vibes are high energy. You will be vibin too!!! Everyone is pretty much dancing and beautiful looking! If you want to have fun and enjoy good foods this is the place! AMAZING!!! We celebrated my sister's bachelorette weekend in Tulum. Although we stayed at an all-inclusive, we decided to leave our resort and check out one of the restaurants/beach clubs. I did my Googles weeks in advance and made a regular lunch reservation for a party of 11. Once we arrived, the hostess upsold us as restaurant reservations have no access to the beach club. WOW! When I tell you it was worth every penny! The drinks were flowing, food delicious, and the vibe was amazing! The DJ kept the party going. There was even a saxophonist, which added a touch of class. We were able to walk down to the beach. They have beach chairs, beds m, and cabanas available for rent. They even have a plunge pool for there guests. We had a great time and I highly recommend you visit this venue when in Tulum. read more
Came for a beautiful birthday dinner reservation on a Monday night. Not too crowded, which was perfect because the service was pretty good. They had our table ready and we were seated soon as we walked in. The DJ knows how to read the room, which I say bravo to! I say this because the music was ON POINT! Once again coming with the hits! We were up dancing and everything. Nothing like getting a workout in before the food arrives! I need more restaurants like this! They also have this random violinist come stand on a chair in the middle of the room and play beautiful music! It's very fun and entertaining. The food was amazingly delicious! First time having ceviche and I ate it all. Best risotto I've ever had with squid ink! I want more so bad! The cheesecake was, eh. Nobody finished that dessert. So that tells you what you need to know. Otherwise super fun time. I can only imagine it during the day! Sidenote: don't go to the bathroom alone. There's locals trying to sell you all types of "addictions" over there! Not a safe environment for a solo trip read more

The food was okay. The best thing was the complimentary bread and dip they provided for us. I will say the strawberry margarita was very good. The experience of the live DJ and violinist makes this place worth it. I would give this place a try if you're planning a night out in Tulum but expect to pay minimum of $60 per head for mid food. read more
One of those expensive spots to look cute and be seen! I have a problem with personally paying $100 JUST to sit on the beach, but you can add the difference of the cost toward drinks and hookah. Ok, fine. The beach is absolutely beautiful and we went on a Monday with a sax player on the beach which was nice. I was a little irritated with people constantly trying to sell us things on the beach--especially children on such an adult restaurant beach but hey. It's one of those places you should check out once to party, drink and smoke hookah! Lots of fun. I would eat elsewhere though. Small portions and not worth the money read more
Taboo beach club is expensive as hell it's $147 US Dollars per person but totally worth the hype!!!!!! This is one of my favorite spots we came too. It literally made me feel like I was in Tulum's party scene. The atmosphere is great! The $147 covers $70 worth of food, beach access, and an entire day. My only wish is that the $147 covered more food options. I was able to get one drink and two appetizers for the $70. This was one of the cheaper options... you get a table not too close the beach but closer to the entrance. The music was BOMB, they have people come out with sparklers every time you order drinks/bottles/dessert for celebrations. There is someone doing body paint for tips, and there's a saxophone player that is incredible! The beach is just a few steps away. There's bathrooms. They accept Pesos, US Dollars, and credit cards (no discover cards). Service: really slowwwww just to her drinks was about 45 mins. The food took close to 1hr 30 mins to come out. Currently - there is no social distancing as of May. No mask required. No temperature checks. I got the grilled octopus in black ink, steak tacos, and a drink. I really enjoyed my meal and I would highly recommend this place. Worth the money. read more
Taboo was so much fun! I love it here. It's expensive compared to other places in Tulum, but you're paying for the experience. I came here for a birthday dinner, and ended up buying a bottle of Moet, a couple shots, and dinner so my bill came to about $550 for myself and a friend (yikes LOL). Taboo is very loud, dark, intimate and such a vibe. They play a little bit of everything for music: latin, hip hop, EDM, and there was even a guy playing a violin lol. The chef gave us complimentary pita bread and dip. The food was SO good. My friends said it was better than their initial expectations. Overall I had such an amazing time that I want to keep going back. read more
Taboo $$$$ Ah the famous Instagram Influencer spot and they 100% charge for it. We went for brunch and our total for four people was $10761 pesos including tip. ($600USD/4 people or $150USD/person) If you sit at the tables or sunbeds, it'll be $2500 pesos ($139USD) per person -- this includes a $1250 peso minimum consumption fee, if you are under that $1250 peso number, you lose the money, if you go over, you pay the extra amount. If you sit at a cabana, it's $13000 pesos ($722USD) for your group (unsure of the maximum) and you can stay there all day. Knowing what I know now, if i had to do this again (I wouldn't given the choice) I would've gotten the $13000 cabana for the day and then just chilled for the rest of the day until they kicked you out. (I think this happens when it turns from a beach club to a night club). The food here has a Mediterranean-flair. It's average but extremely, extremely heavy. We couldn't finish all of our food. The squid risotto was quite good, but their best dish/dessert was their tangerine sorbet. The fish carpaccio was very sour. The sliders were mediocre. The ceviche was average ceviche. The octopus tacos were inmemorable. You are coming to Taboo for the Instagram photo and you pay handsomely for it. I wish I had mentally prepared myself (financially) more, if it wasn't so incredibly expensive, I wouldn't have remembered this 10 years from now. But I will because it was expensive, and maybe that's their goal to be memorable. read more
The food was ok, just came for the vibes but the service and the decor were spot on. A section facing the pool and the Ocean was a sight to behold as well as seeing everybody having a good time. The downside of this place is that it's overpriced and could've been a little more reasonable. read more

Food was delicious and the service was awesome. There was live music, sparklers and a show. Came for a birthday and they had sparklers and dessert sent to our table. I had the Bogavante Risotto. It was so yummy I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning. read more
The ambience is lovely - beach front tables, lively music, very attentive servers and a celebratory vibe. Seems to be a super popular spot for birthdays and anniversaries, they ask you if you're celebrating something special before seating you! The dinner menu is heavier on the seafood side. We ordered the Nigerian Shrimp and Squid Ink Calamari Risotto. The shrimp dish was top notch, well spiced on a bed of rock salt for that extra kick. It also comes with pita bread, feta cheese dip and spicy peppers. The risotto was good but I wish the portion size was smaller and calamari was spicier. They also have Shisha if you're into that. The restaurant is pricey so expect to spend $80-100 per person for food and drinks. There's valet parking available, it's a really busy street so would recommend taking advantage of the service. read more

Spot was beautiful. Friends and i went to Tulum for a birthday celebration and we managed to do Friday night and Saturday (all day). We got the best of both worlds. The food was good. Some dishes were a hit or miss. Wasn't a fan of the cauliflower but we absolutely loved the banana dessert! A must have! We got a coconut drink that had tequila pineapple juice and coco. It was also amazing. We did bottle service and was able to have a whole section to ourselves. Be aware you will spend money in this location. It's not exactly cheap especially if and friends want bottle service and a private booth. They did a fashion show with girls modeling the clothes around the beach and tables, there was a live sax player, and with the bottle service we had our own personal attendant. This place is gorgeous!!!!!!! The food is delicious, and the ambiance is amazing!!! I wish we had more places like this in Miami. The drinks are plates are huge!!!!! If you are in Tulum I definitely recommend you to pass by Taboo one night, it is kind of pricey, but it is worth it. read more

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful restaurant! We came to Tulum for the day and we stopped at this popular and trendy restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday.. There are many opportunities for great pictures. There is a body painter on site, she works on tips but will ask you how much she will be tipped.. We were seated immediately once we arrived, however, keep in mind that you MUST have a reservation. This restaurant is on the beach so, there are views for days. We alerted the staff of my husband's birthday, the wait staff was great! Such great energy here.. we ordered Hookah, drinks and food.. To get started they put pita bread with olives and peppers are the table, this was great too.. I ordered the salmon burger and that was very very good and filling.. For the birthday celebration, they offered this flaky and yummy dessert.. the staff came out with candles and sang happy birthday. Overall, it was a wonderful experience! read more
Definitely a vibe. Came on a Sunday with a group of 8. We made reservations ahead on open table and were seated immediately. We got a table closest to the restaurant for $140 pp, with a $70 credit towards food and drinks. I had the voodoo, which was amazing!!! Had to get another one. We ordered a bottle of tequila and the waiter set up a station beside the table and made all of the drinks from that bottle. Many of us ordered the salmon burger, really good. The filet tacos were good but small, not filling. The potatoes that came with the burger were really good and nicely seasoned. The music they played catered to all parties there. They would play about 3 songs from one genre and then move on to the next. The drinks are a little pricey, especially for Mexico, but it was to be expected. They don't split checks, so doing math at check out is a little annoying because you have to convert too. Overall no real complaints, but it didn't knock me off my feet or wow me. read more

This is the go to for beach clubs but I came here for dinner. The ambiance was fun yet romantic with low lights and candles. Servers and busters were quick with their service which was great. Now to the food. We were given a complimentary appetizer - board with pita bread, olives, Piquillo peppers stuffed with goat cheese onion dip which was soo good! For another appetizer we ordered the ceviche which was kind of spicy so if you don't like mild spice, may not be for you. For main courses we ordered the rib eye which was good and tender but the catch of the day was phenomenal! I would recommend this any day. In terms of parking, we parked right next door for $25 and they said it was an all day fee with ins and outs so that's good to know for next time. read more
This is the place to come if you are looking to have a fun time, social, and enjoy the vibes. Definitely a surreal experience, surrounded by their beautiful people, the service is first class. Great location with a splendid atmosphere. The concept I believe is great. Each person pays about $75 USD or $1500 in pesos for a lounge chair which includes $53USD credit in food or drinks. Customer service was ok, I can't say to all servers. I noticed most of the gentlemen was very nice and as for some of the lady servers weren't as nice. I kinda felt stalked and they're always watching you. We payed for 4 lounge chairs which cost $300 USD equivalent to $6000 pesos (not including tips). Since we're couples, we like to sit together. Two of the lady servers was telling us to give up our other two chairs so they can place other guests in while we paid for those slot to have entry into the club. Which I thought was obscure... Great selection of drinks but as for food the only dish I felt that was the clam sauce noodle. Beach view was beautiful and good music that earned the 3 stars. read more

We had a lot of fun here. Expect to spend a chunk of money, but if you're on a vacation it can be worth it. The staff treated us like royalty and we loved them back for it! The only negative was that each time I went to the bathroom I was offered drugs. This was odd since security was outside the bathroom door, which leads me to believe they were getting a cut (but that's only my personal suspicion). Don't buy illegal drugs in Tulum or anywhere in MX because it only helps drive crime. Do avoid getting a seat too close to the pool or music. It was very loud! Otherwise, this place is great. It was loads of fun. If you're ready to spend money, but want to be treated great, this is your place. read more

If you're looking for a place that plays EDM/Dubstep type of music with aesthetically pleasing food and drinks then Taboo is for you! The beach and lounge areas are nice and the view of the ocean is beautiful. The food and service isn't worth the price unless you're an influencer or a brand ambassador - otherwise its just another overpriced place where you can flex. Taboo, Tantra, Rosa Negra and Chambao all provide the same vibes with different amenities and entertainment. read more
My experience was pretty great! It's fairly expensive but any place at the beach would be around the same price since they're all touristic.. We got pasta they're good but let me tell you the beet salad is OMG! You should try! It's the perfect combo of beet cheese walnut arugula and honey! Amazing! Also the atmosphere is pretty dope too! Definitely recommend coming here. We ended up going on a Sunday night around 9. There's usually reservations & it's thru open table, they are very professional & will confirm your reservations thru whatsupp. The vibe is the best part, presentation it's amazing & around every hour they had some type of entertainment. Trust me it gets pricy but definitely worth it if you're having a great time & have great company. Every time you order shots or bottle they bring out little fireworks & definitely mention if you have a birthday at the host or to your server. Drinks are a 8/10, Dj everyday & they also have day parties. Make sure you come looking cute & for four of us it was 1k. Make sure to ask your server to give you a pass for confessions which is a bar right next to it that they also own so they won't have you pay a cover charge! read more

Probably the best place to visit in Tulum ! The vibe there is something that hard to put in words. Me and my wife were in tulum for our anniversary vacation and part of it was Taboo that made everything beyond great experience for us! Food was great and hookah there was really hitting the spot! Service was above and beyond for anything we wanted! Definitely will be there again soon ! read more
