Birthday Tings! My BF and I came here for a chill beach day. Reservations are recommended as it does get quite busy. Isaias & Johnathan were our servers and they were amazing!!!! I mentioned we were celebrating my BF's bday.... At the end of our beach day they put on a full production, singing, dancing and giving him a dessert. It's ok...The food is good, but the drinks are fully overpriced. The food is amazing, moderately priced, but the drinks is where they get you...I have money so it's not a hinderance but the service and overall experience doesn't warrant the price. There were three of us, we have an entree each and we have 3 drinks each...it was just under 500 total and surely not worth it honestly. I left a great tip, it's was overall nice, but it was empty here. I imagine because it was early at 2/3pm, but literally no one else but us. Outside of them trying to finesse as tip after we left a $200 credit that we didn't have capacity to use everything else was great. The vibes were vibing, we saw drug deals(lol) , musicians, prostitutes, celebrities it was a good time. The food was great, the decore was tropical and the staff very attentive. read more

Pretty fun overall, but still overrated. The pros: Great service. We were a group of 9 so we rented a cabana and there was always one or two people around to serve us drinks. The food here was pretty good, including the complimentary bread appetizer. We loved the octopus so much that we ordered it again that night at Chambao next door (and also RosaNegra Group) but it was nothing like the one at Tantra. The music was good as well, and the cabana had a private salt water pool which was nice. The cons: There were people working on staining the wooden structures right in front / above us. It was weird because it distracted our view a bit, but even worse they got the lacquer on our clothing and then nothing was really done about it when we brought it up. We went on a day/time that seemed pretty empty, and we were a large group so a discount or perk would have made sense. My friends and I were here on a Saturday (4/27) and it was an amazing experience. We were originally planning to go to Taboo, which is right next door, but changed our minds because of the cover charge. Taboo was asking for $300 USD just to enter whereas Tantra asked for $200 USD but half of the cover goes towards your bill so we decided to go for the latter. FYI, the tables and beach beds come for various prices so that gets added as well. The food was phenomenal, the drinks were delicious and the hookah was perfect. Our server, Kimberly, was super sweet and attentive! The crowd was super fun and the DJ had everyone on their feet! Definitely recommend! read more

Overcharged my card & recharged my card for a tip I did not authorize & just took advantage us.& they work with scammers claiming they are cartel n saying they were going to kill us if we didn't buy their drugs. I've been to Mexico six (6) times. The changes to Tulum are so incredible to me. I never would've imagined establishments like Tantra or the neighboring Taboo existing there. It's all pretty remarkable. Anyway, I kept going back-and-forth in my mind about the number of stars I would give to Tantra Tulum. My thoughts varied from 3 to a light 5 for various reasons that I hope to make clear in this review. Ultimately, I settled at 4. I hope my explanations reinforce the score. Now, just to sit down at this place you need to put like $100 (U.S.) down. Part of that will count towards your food and drink orders but consider that the policy isn't even a thing except in extremely extravagant (or "wanna-be" extravagant) places stateside. It's weird, to me, to be paying American/New York prices in Mexico where the currency exchange rate is obviously greatly tilted. The prices for the food and drink were also high and comparable to NYC/MIA/LA prices in the U.S. So brace yourself for the bill if you're not used to that. Some may say that the venue is so beautiful that those prices are warranted. They could be right because Tantra's setup is pretty beautiful and it's right on the beach, at a destination made famous by Instagrammers world wide (never mind the ruins of an ancient civilization). The bamboo lined entryway is probably "Instafamous" by now. The venue transitions from beach club, to pool club, to formal dining restaurant. The juxtaposition of all of these spaces is interrupted only by walkways featuring staff members wearing tan and white uniforms that match the atmosphere. Incidentally, on my visit I observed a superior staff member correct the posture of a subordinate just after arriving. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. Anyways, we ordered some drinks and small appetizers all of which came with elaborate plating, containers and presentation. The space, presentation and service staff definitely pushed my star rating up! On top of that Czech-born DJ Melody (a stunning creature in her own right) provided your standard House/EDM vibe music to start. My squad was from New York. We can get down with that music but we were celebrating the birthday of a West Indian friend. So I took it upon myself to ask for some caribbean music. In a fantastic twist of fate DJ Melody sub-specialized in Dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats etc.! She promised to play the tunes if we promised to "turn up!" Deal! As night fell on our visit the situation evolved into a full on pool party buoyed by beats with nasty bass! We wanted to be closer to the pool and not leave our stuff behind at our original table. The staff obliged and allowed us to move to one of the VIP sections by the pool. They even assisted with a cake and sparkler presentation later that night! It was a great way to cap off the night. If you're still reading this I'll tell you the things that were not so great. For one, there were some gentlemen there peddling street pharmaceuticals in a fairly bold fashion. I didn't appreciate them approaching me. Secondly, there was no onsite parking so I had to valet our car rental. The lot down the street seemed a little too suspect so I let Tantra/Taboo front staff valet the car. Recalling the car was an absolute mess and took nearly 40 minutes at closing time. Therein lies another small issue: Due to covid restrictions the place closed at 11pm which sucked because we would've stayed longer. Bottom line: If you're in the Tulum Beach area it's worth a visit. If I ever go back, I might try to see what's up with Taboo which is owned by the same management group. We'll see. read more

Tantra was a good time! My friends and I were debating between here and Taboo, and we ended up choosing here because the music was better and it was just a little cheaper. We did not pay a cover charge to get in, which was nice. And we were able to get one of the sections with the pools and couches in exchange for buying two bottles! The music here was mainly hip hop/r&b and it was such a vibe! Since it is a beach club, it is located right on the beach - so it's gorgeous views and a swimmable ocean. Also, the food was GOOD. I was pleasantly shocked by the food at Tantra since they are owned by the same company as Rosa Negra (the food at Rosa Negra was not good). The Lamb Chops at Tantra were AMAZING. 10/10. Our table ended up ordering 3 orders of lamb chops to share because they really were that good! The crab cake was also good -- not what I'm used to as a Maryland girl -- but still good. The reason I can't do 5 stars is because of a problem with my reciept. I went to the bar to order food separately, so my friends wouldn't have to split the cost of what I got when we got the final check for the section. I placed my order and I was brought my receipt and the waiter pointed to the bottom where it showed the different tip amounts. I said "okay thank you, I see it" and then gave him my card to charge me for the food. Once he brought back my card I was planning to add 15% gratuity since this was just an order I was taking away from the bar. When the waiter brought back my card, to my surprise, he already add 20% gratuity to the bill. When I asked why he did that, he said "you told me to". I informed him I never said how much gratuity I was going to give him to which he stared at me and said "I've already charged the card with the 20%". Needless to say, I was a little upset because that seemed VERY dishonest, so if you come to eat here, just watch out for that. read more

Nice beach club located in Tulum. During the week they charge a $100 entry fee per person which is redeemable in food and drink. We sat in a cabana directly on the beach. We ordered cocktails, a magnum of champagne and a burger. Everything was fantastic. Until after I paid the tab which included gratuity and the waitress begged for additional tip. She stated that the gratuity is shared among everyone. After spending $800 US dollars she wanted more money. That was a complete turn off. read more

If you're looking for some boho chic where you clear at least a few hundred USD in a day, and can easily get your hands on some not so wholesome stuff, this is the place to go. The cover is steep, food, drinks, and shisha are pricey, but the environment, service, beach and models are top notch. Tantra is a day club, as it closes a little after sunset. Do note that sometimes the vibe is kinda dead, and there will not be many people there or dancing. read more

Tantra is definitely one of my favorite restaurants I ate at in Tulum. The lobster ceviche was absolutely delicious. If you go here definitely try the ceviche. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and the sauce that came with it paired perfectly. The ambience was a 10 out of 10 completely gorgeous. My only thing is don't get pressured into taking shots from the waiters because they charge you for the most expensive alcohol and we ended up paying $100 for two shots. Gorgeous place, and what a grand entrance thru wooden branches tunnel. Beautiful jungle interior decoration. I came at 8pm for late dinner. This place definitely design for lounging with the hip music playing, with beautiful dancers and shisha offering. I am not sure at earlier time what setting they have. Service really amazing, friendly smile from receptionist to my reserve seats. My server Jose Cuevas and Shesly gave the best service I had in Tulum. Food is really delicious, ordered the grilled lobster and the appetizer is really good, got the free tlayuda. Beautiful food presentation, and grilled to perfection. read more

Getting there: Like I've said in all my other Tulum reviews, I just know that this restaurant is located on the same strip as all the boogie hotels and beach clubs. Experience: I actually really liked this beach club, but I have one con I am going to start with. We wanted to purchase a table near the pool, which was cool because they give you a certain amount to spend on food and drinks. The woman who helped us in the front of the club was very assurant that we were good to go. She gave us our ticket and we walked into the beach club and we were met by another woman who was going to accept our payment, however she told us that there are no more tables available by the pool, and that the miscommunication came from their systems being down. We ended up having to settle for daybeds further away from the pool which was fine, but it would have been a lot nicer if the front staff communicated with the back staff on what tables were available. Other than that this place is really chill. Super beachy bohemian vibes. It's a little pricey because its a popular beach club, but it's worth it. The music at first what kinda eh, but as the day went on they switched it to more housey hip hop vibes. I would definitely recommend, but come prepared to spend some money. read more

It was a nice experience. It was expensive but worth the money. There are many options for seating both on the patio and on the beach itself. All seating has direct access to the beach. We got patio seating that included very attentive bottle service and a jacuzzi. The beach had a lot of seaweed which made walking into the water a bit uncomfortable. Just be cautious because they tried to add the cost of an extra bottle to our order that we did not drink. read more

This is a hot spot for tourist, but honestly they just rip you off and force you to order things. Which everything on their menu is very pricey, even though you are in Mexico you are paying high American prices. Nice beach club, I don't remember how much it was per person, maybe $100 or so and you get a portion of the to spend on food and drinks (like 1500 pesos?). Pricing is based on the type of seating you buy and how many people, the more expensive options were for bigger groups and positioned further from the beach and closer to a mini pool at the center of the space. We went there a day after Hurricane Grace and they recovered pretty well! It was a bit windy so we couldn't get a beach umbrella but the staff was accommodating and helped us move to a shady area. Taboo, which was next door and owned by the same company, was more of a clubby vibe with loud edm music while Tantra had more of a trop house vibes with a few people ordering bottle service w/ sparklers and a random guest (from Tampa) buying everyone shots. Tantra is definitely a bit more laid back, food and drinks were good. I really enjoyed the brie wrapped in phylo dough, it was unique and delish. I enjoyed the presentation of the cocktails, one of my drinks (the one with espresso/coffee) was serviced in a ceramic coconut that is held in a little tray. The entrance leading to the restaurant/beach club is very Tulum and picturesque with a cool bamboo geometric walkway, beach chairs came with a towel that were delicately placed on the seat as we were brought to our table, and the staff was very attentive. There were also bodyguards standing around which was interesting and people peddling their wares along the beach, we sat right at the beach so we had a few people coming up to us during the initial hour we were there. I had a good time, felt comfortable leaving our bags unattended on a beach chair on a public beach, and there are plenty of photo ops. There is also wifi if you must do work or something at the beach and valet parking for those that are driving along Tulum beach. Their beach club is from 9-5 and they are on WhatsApp if you want to book a table beforehand, we went right after a hurricane so there were plenty of day beds available. read more

Zero stars. The 1 star is misleading. We paid $300 to be on a bed by the beach until 7 pm. We got there at 4 pm. At 6pm they came down to the beach and told us we had to leave the area and go back by the pool. We paid to be down by the beach for a reason, alone and away from the "party". On top of that, the entire time, there was an interchanging group of 8-10 guys standing behind us no further than 10ft eye f****** my girlfriend the ENTIRE time. They weren't just looking at us, they were standing behind us talking dirty and sexual thinking that we didn't understand Spanish. My girlfriend is Colombian lol. And we weren't the only couple that got the same treatment. That's not the way employees should be treating their guests. Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. I feel sorry for the girls that work there because they were sweet, kind and decent service. Take your money and go to Selina or a different beach club. The most sobering and unacceptable experience I've had in Tulum. read more
