I wanted to rent an 8-person table and chairs for a dinner and Tablescapes was the only place with a small enough delivery minimum ($175) that I could make it work. Going in person to view the inventory was easy. The delivery drivers were very friendly, willing to wait 10 minutes since we weren't home when they arrived. The table looked great, the chairs were reasonably comfortable for a rental, and the tablecloth was really fun and interesting. My only challenges were COVID masking at the main location (delivery drivers were great) and long delivery windows. In October of 2021, so when breakthrough cases were known but not quite pervasive, the staff declined to wear a mask even when we asked if they could. They did say they were vaccinated, but I felt uncomfortable. For the delivery window, they provided a time of 9am-3pm. I called the day before and was told we would get a shorter delivery window the following morning and a driver would call 1 hour out. But I only got my revised delivery window of 10am-2pm at 9:30am the next morning and the driver arrived at 9:52am and hadn't been told told to call ahead, so it was stressful racing back home. read more

Tablescapes was subcontracted by the event staffing company our non profit hired for an event in September. Our big issue is the tables and drapes we rented (which cost a fortune btw). We arrived at our venue to find boxes and carts scattered all over. When I called the staffing co for an explanation they offered no solutions. They claim that we 'sent them away,' which is ridiculous. Why would we cast away goods and services we paid for? Neither entity even cared to call me, the contact. Long story short we had to frantically search for tools to start assembling tables and moving them. The drapes we didn't have time to construct. This could have destroyed our evening, but our fast thinking and willingness to get dirty saved the day. I ordered some highboys and linens for my 30th bday bash this past weekend from tablescapes. I researched a few other places in Chicagoland and this one was by far the winner..for price & location! For only 6 highboys and 6 linens the total came to around $160, which didn't seem worth paying the $40 drop off and pickup fee ($40 each time). Afterall, I have a new SUV for these type of situations! The guy at the warehouse was very helpful when it came to loading my car, but it was a bit more work to lug them around than I expected (especially at 30 weeks pregnant) so I decided to have them picked up after the party. They gave me a 4 hr pickup window and showed up an hr early. The highboys were in decent location and easy to put up/tear down. And the lime green linens were perfect for a summer party on the rooftop. Overall, easy peasy! i'd definitely order from here for another bash (perhaps thanksgiving dinner later this year) and will probably just pay the extra drop off and pickup fee from the start next time. read more

This isn't really a place for the little guys. And by little guys I mean people that want to host small and intimate events. I hosted a dinner party for 14 and needed 2 tables, 2 tablecloths, and 14 chairs. I threw in 14 napkins while I was ahead - why not get all fancy and use real napkins right?! There was a non chalant tone from the woman about me not being able to deliver my rental items by 5 pm the Monday following my party, a "take it or leave it" tone. Of course I had to take it because at this point I had no choice. I did things a little too last minute. And had I called the day after, well there would be a surcharge for last minute orders (two days before the event). I scrambled to find another company but it was struggle because I was driving home and was pressed on time. And just an FYI, it appears many of rental companies close at 5pm. I went ahead and processed my order over the phone. That was a fast and painless process. I submitted my credit card authorization and requested and confirmation; that too was fast and painless. I had my husband pick up the items. He mentioned that he was in and out and that Tablescapes was incredibly organized. The return process was also a breeze, the only thing that sucked was the fact that I had to load up my car early the morning and request to leave work early to ensure that I delivered my rental in a timely fashion. So why the 3 stars, well maybe 3.5. It was an inconvenience to return. And to pay for Tablescape to pick it up would cost more than the rental itself, $124 for items listed in first paragraph. The tables were a little dingy but that's okay because its typically covered. The chairs were old, tired, and worn - but hey I did ask for "the cheapest folding chair that is not plastic." And BTW, what blew me away cost wise was the tablecloths. $22 each!!! $22!!!! I just planned my wedding that was decorated from top to bottom on a budget, CVlinen.com all the way. We ended up renting chairs, napkins and table runners for our wedding and Tablescapes were great to work with! I worked with Rose and not only was she quick to respond to my (many) questions and requests, but she also understood my budget and vision and was able to recommend where to invest and where not to. For other brides considering renting chairs and linens, I would definitely recommend Tablescapes - they really brought my vision to life! A few hints for other brides: if your venue can accept a delivery or pick-up on a day other than Friday-Sunday, you may be able to save on delivery costs. Also, I had white tablecloths, but the chivari chairs come standard with off-white cushions. Since my reception room didn't have a lot of natural light, I went with the off-white cushions and with the dim lighting and candlelight, no one was wiser and I saved a few bucks! read more

You need rentals? There are only a few companies in Chicago that do them on smaller scale. Tablescapes being one of them. You have to hit a minimum of $150 to qualify for delivery (which you pay for, of course)...but if you just need some tables/chairs/linens for a dinner party or roofdeck or smaller event, this is your place. You'll need a truck/SUV to pick stuff up, you've been warned! I've used them twice over the years: Once we hosted a Thanksgiving dinner and did a small order of two 10 person rounds and 20 chairs plus linens. All went smoothly. More recently I placed an order for an event at Loft on Lake. 125 chairs (about $2/each), two 8-foot tables and some garbage cans. $90 labor/delivery. All in all, not too bad at all...and frankly, you can't do the event without chairs or garbage cans, not an option! *note, you'll need to restack and package everything after your event in just the way it arrived. Otherwise, you'll be charged. The gals that assisted me were very helpful but I get the idea that things are run a little old school. Totally fine to do everything over the phone (as opposed to online or email) but more time consuming. It was all handled effectively, but I would've loved to have placed and confirmed my order online as opposed to going back and forth via email, credit card authorization form scanning and sending, etc. Also, initially I had to email for a price list to be sent to me. I assume that's to stave off the competition undercutting or something? To me it added an additional step that I then had to take to figure out my budgeting and order. One good thing about having a wedding at a place where you can bring in your own vendors is you save loads of money. The bad thing? You have to find and coordinate all these vendors. Lucky for me, a little well-informed birdie informed me that Tablescapes would be my place for all things rental. And we did need ALL THINGS RENTED. Tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses, flatware. If you need it for dinner service, we needed to rent it. Thanks to Tablescapes, it was fairly uncomplicated. They send you a booklet of all the options and you make your decisions. (My one gripe is that this booklet was rather challenging to navigate. So many choices made it difficult for me to find the items I wanted: as white and plain as possible. But we eventually found exactly what we wanted.) Make your deposit, place your order (which you can update until a few days before your event) and voila! Your guests have chairs on which to sit and champagne flutes from which to drink. They are flexible on the drop off, pick up times too, which was helpful in our situation (when our venue was closed on the original day they wanted to retrieve their items). I used Tablescapes to set up for my first time hosting Thanksgiving Dinner. I didn't need much, just 2 tables and 10 chairs, but I wanted to use Tablescapes (as opposed to other "party" stores) because they had nice stuff. T he chairs were not cheap plastic or metal, but hardwood chairs with padded seats. The only problem with Tablescapes Rentals is that they are not used to servicing my small party needs - they have a minimum order price of $150 (For delivery) or $75 (for pick up and drop off yourself). So my measly order only came out to $45 dollars and I had to literally make up $30 worth of additional rentals. This turned out nicely though because the additional things I rented (risers for the food) added a sophisticated touch to the festivities. In the end I got everything I needed, but I also got a bit of an attitude from the person answering the phones. I had called previously to discuss the availability of the products. It wasn't until I called back that I learned about the "minimum" purchase price, and the person I spoke to the second time - had a bit of an attitude about it. Maybe its because I called 10 minutes before closing, who knows! Nevertheless, I got my stuff, my party was great, the prices were good, and even with the attitude - I'll use them again in the future. PS - I would have given them 3-stars (because of the attitude), but the guys working in the warehouse (who brought my stuff to my truck) were super nice and fast. I called Tablescapes on January 13 based on the reviews that it received on Yelp. Rose answered and was very sweet on the phone. She promptly emailed me a Price List. From here - things.went.downhill. Rose looped in Suzanne who works with the caterer that I am using for my event. I emailed the company with a few options of what I wanted for my event. I wanted actual proposals but I received a response with just prices for individual pieces. I asked her if she could match a competitor's price and she said no because they were not really a competitor. She also ignored one of my questions altogether. When I requested the information again her only reply via email was: "Where and when will we be delivering and picking up, thanks" == I did't like the tone but I know that it can be misconstrued sometimes over email so I said: "I think I am misinterpreting the tone of these emails and I think a phone conversation would be better (as Rose suggested initially). I tried calling yesterday but I missed you by 15 minutes and this morning, I have meetings until 11a. I will try to call you then. Thank you." == To the above email - I received this reply. . . "hi not sure but I have to have an address so I can get the quote put in correctly.I don't know if you would like delivery the day of your event or the day before. Feel free to call me if you like 312 xxx-xxxx thanks" == What does that even mean? I ended up calling her and she did apologize for the miscommunication. We came up with a plan that was workable for both of us. Throughout the conversation-she kept assuming I knew things that I didn't (such as the lucite covers were NOT included in the cost of renting the cubes). Then when I was trying to get the answer to the question she ignored twice via email, she told me I had the name of the item wrong (even though I had the Tablescapes website open to item). When she sent the proposal to me, I was shocked at the price and decided I was done with Suzanne. I called the main office and talked to the person who answered the phone. She was very nice and passed my message about how irritated I was to the manager. She also amended the proposal to omit the extra items so that I could live with the price point. The next day, I couldn't deal with this issue because I don't do event planning full-time. I have a regular job. I had to change my order and called the Betty, the Customer Service Rep whose name was on the most recent proposal at 4:40. Yes. 20 minutes before quitting time on a Friday. Crazy. I know. Betty was mostly polite in amending my order but then when it was 4:55, she started to rush me off the phone! I couldn't believe it. When I asked if anyone could help me in the office on Saturday, she said yes but that I should "make sure I call more than 30 minutes before we close." Say WHAT? Did you just tell me that you don't want to talk to a customer just because it's time to close? Nope. Uh-uh. We are done. Classic Party Rentals followed up on a call I had put in to them on Thursday. They matched Tablescapes prices (which Suzanne was unwilling to do) and now I will be moving on to go write them a GLOWING Yelp review. read more

We rented tall boy tables here for a party...we wanted that bar feel but didn't want people sitting around. No stools means more mingling. We also got black linens to cover the tables. The tables needed to be covered because they have seen some parties in there lifetime. I will never be able to look at a skirted table in the same way. The table cloth sure hides the war wounds from parties past. The only thing I was not happy with is that we had an appointment and our consultant was late...in fact, we never met her in person. We were told to walk around and take a look. We did that for about 15 minutes and finally told the lady that we knew what we wanted and she wrote up our order. I was not happy with the waiting because when I am late for an appointment I feel like a jerk. No one seemed to apologize or even make an excuse about why our consultant was not there. We decided to pick up everything. The loading dock is not near the entrance of the showroom. You also have to call for someone to open the gate. Once you jump through those hoops you are in. Load up your vehicle and you are on your way to party. Well you have to first set up the tables and then it is time to party. Parties need tables. Tables are like a giant coaster for drinks. I would highly recommend this place because it was affordable. I was also able to get them to match another companies quote, so that made my decision easy. read more

Over the months leading up to the event, I changed the order options several times and the reps were very accommodating, responsive and helpful. Whenever we changed an order (which happened a number of times) they worked with us patiently- giving us specifics about everything we asked about. Once we called spur of the moment asking if we could come in within maybe an hour notice, and they allowed us to come in, look at everything we were ordering- and again change our order. Then, not long before the wedding, we asked to rent an extra 20 chairs. As it worked out, another couple ordered the same chairs and they didn't have an extra 20. Instead of simply telling us no, they upgraded our chairs to much nicer ones, as we had the reservation first. It was such an amazing thing for them to do for no reason! She is the creative director and she is amazing! She loved all of my wedding ideas and was sooooo helpful with pulling my look together. It was fresh, innovated, and up to date. I feel like i am a young fun bride wanting to have the party of our lives! I dont think that is alot to ask but most vendors i have dealt with so far are dated and stale! I chose beautiful barn wood tables that do not need linens and a mixture of chairs, benches, lounge furniture, and accents. Sheree suggested that My Husband and I sit at a bar height table for two while our guests sit at regular table height tables. I loved this idea. Also i want all of my bridal parties dates to be able to sit with them. I have been that girl in the corner as my fiance stood up in many of his friends weddings. If I could give no stars I would . This company has scam artist working there. They told me out their mouths they keep people credit card information on file . I was supposed to be refunded from an order I placed because I didn't need everything I ordered after finding out what they promoted didn't come like the picture they showed . Further more I cancelled everything in time as stated on the "contract" spoke wit a customer assistant for more than 30 mins as she assured my refund will be refunded within 3-5 business days . Waited a whole 7 business days and called for them to tell me I sign a contract that stated I release my funds back to them because I made changes on the order . So I'm just out of $136 and on top of that while on the phone for another 40 minutes wit a lady that says they have google numbers for their business and no supervisor is ever around sounds really shiesty to me . So if you rented from them or you are thinking about renting from the them make sure you check for fraud activities from them . Because they charged my card twice for the same amount and never refunded the money that was suppose to go back on my card . Horrible. I saw some bad yelp reviews before I called but decided to try it anyway. Their pricing is astronomical, but that's not what I take issue with (the price is the price, that's their prerogative). These people just have zero customer service skills. I call to potentially give my business and they're flat out rude to a potential customer. Sorry, I do not know as much about furniture rental as you do. The poor attitude continued via email interactions until the rep eventually told me they'd cancel their proposal. They must not need new customers because they have zero shred of ability to interact with others. If you have loads of money and don't mind spending it, Tablescapes is the place to go. Our venue let us work with our own vendors, except for our rentals on tables and chairs. Tablescapes was our only option, and though their customer service was great, their prices were high for us. We went with the least expensive tables and chairs but were surprised when we heard that we needed to pay an additional $300 for drop-off and pick-up the same day since our venue needed everything vacated the same night of the wedding. We really had no option so we paid it. The real reason I am rating 1 star is because I had paid the total amount in full about 1 week before the wedding, (so I wouldn't have to have all payments withdrawn from my account the same day) but I was charged the 2nd payment twice the day of my wedding. I got a text message saying that I was in the negative in my bank account and noticed that I was charged again for the payment. Something you don't want to deal with on your wedding.
