Going in person to view the inventory was easy. The delivery drivers were very friendly, willing to wait 10 minutes since we weren't home when they arrived. The table looked great, the chairs were reasonably comfortable for a rental, and the tablecloth was really fun and interesting. My only challenges were COVID masking at the main location (delivery drivers were great) and long delivery windows. In October of 2021, so when breakthrough cases were known but not quite pervasive, the staff declined to wear a mask even when we asked if they could. They did say they were vaccinated, but I felt uncomfortable. For the delivery window, they provided a time of 9am-3pm. I called the day before and was told we would get a shorter delivery window the following morning and a driver would call 1 hour out. But I only got my revised delivery window of 10am-2pm at 9:30am the next morning and the driver arrived at 9:52am and hadn't been told told to call ahead, so it was stressful racing back home.

Working with Coreen and Stacy at Vintage Place Setting was a dream. We hosted a 9 person Christmas…read moredinner and wanted plates, glasses, and utensils that would make the people feel special. Mission accomplished. Vintage Place Setting gathers materials from estate sales so there's all sorts of mixing and matching they can do with really fun, novel stuff. They are very responsive and easy to work with, and I'm excited for our next event with them. We visited the showroom in person, where Coreen and Stacy masked effectively, and showed us a curated set of their massive collection. They sent us an estimate over email. We had a small order so we picked it up and dropped it off. Since we dropped off within 24 hours of the event, we just scrapped and rinsed and didn't have to fully clean and sanitize.

We had a very disappointing experience with Ashley Nicole Fox of Vintage Place Settings in Chicago…read more We hired her to provide all decor, design, and table settings for a wedding event at our home and paid $4,000 upfront. Unfortunately, due to COVID-related circumstances, we had to cancel the event about 3-4 weeks in advance. Despite the advance notice, Ashley refused to return any portion of our payment. There was no willingness to offer even a partial refund, credit, or any kind of reasonable accommodation. What made this even more frustrating is that she did not actually lose the date. Our chef ended up using her services that same night for another event, so she still had work and income for that day. Even with that, she still kept the full $4,000 and made no effort to work with us. Communication felt rigid and unhelpful, and the entire situation was handled with little consideration or professionalism. If you are considering working with Vintage Place Settings, make sure you clearly understand the cancellation terms before paying and get everything in writing. Based on our experience, once payment is made, there may be little to no flexibility if plans change. We would not recommend this vendor.

Time after time, I've had great customer service from the rental department--these guys know their gear well, and know how to troubleshoot issues quickly. For my last rental, someone set up my gimbal rig after I placed my order and sent me pictures to illustrate where wireless receiver should go. I've never been helped like that before. Also, Magnanimous has created many "how-to" videos to explain their gear selection to anyone browsing their website. Those videos are super-helpful when selected gear you've never used before. One of the only issues I have with Magnanimous is their online checkout process. For some reason, I cannot get my credit card to process correctly on their website, even though my information is saved through my account wth them. Therefore, I usually call in my order and have someone send me an email confirmation right away. Not ideal, but it works. They also offer one (now two!!) impressive rental studios for hourly or day rates. And there's a 10% gear discount when you shoot in one of the studios. vvCool. I'll be coming back here for years to come!
