We requested it look "foresty" since our wedding was in Redwood National Park and she absolutely nailed it. She took so much stress off of me by basically designing it herself. I sent the cake topper to her from an Etsy shop and she worked with me through all of that as well! The cake was delicious, beautiful, and delivered right on time as promised. She even helped me understand how to store it and serve it for the best taste. She truly is amazing and I would get my wedding cake from her again if I had to do it all over again. I put together a custom pack to test out a few flavors: Red Velvet, Lemon, Caramel Pretzel, and Carrot Cake. For the price, these things are massive--they definitely deliver big cupcakes for the bucks. They arrived in a cool little pink box, meticulously decorated and looking great. The cakes themselves were rich, super moist, and packed with flavor, but fair warning: that frosting is layered on thick. (Just a tad too sweet for my palate). Honestly, one cupcake was more than enough to handle the craving and put me down for the count. But if you're a true frosting lover, you're in for the most fantastical sugar rush.

I didn't see the water, and slipped and indeed fell quite hard. I'm youngish and spry, and was able to bounce back, and am just sore and achy. But nobody made any comment to me or expressed any concern (other than other guests). I in fact had to report the incident after flagging someone down, and nobody offered as much as an apology or asked if I was ok. I'm honestly glad it was me rather than an older person, as the outcome could have been rough. The food at McLain's is consistently good. I don't care for their coffee or espresso, but it's just not to my taste, I don't think it's poor quality. Bottom line, I think they could work on their soft skills regarding their guests (particularly when potential injuries are on the table). That said, do get a chicken salad sandwich from them. Maybe just order it to go...

Happy 19th Birthday to Dolce Bakery!!! I am clearly late to the party, but we all know late is…read morebetter than never at all(: I am blown away and almost embarrassed to admit I have been on a hunt for the past 3 years in the Kansas City Metropolitan area to find a cinnamon roll that taste better than what I make at home and a SOFT sugar cookie with SOFT icing....to find all of this in ONE place where they also make quick bread is a triple threat WINNER that deserves more than just a 5 star review. I didn't get anything to drink, but was informed they make all their syrups in house and the special "birthday cake" syrup is infused using real birthday cake! Their motto is "every batch made from scratch". Simple saying that allows the product to speak for itself and will admit I had no shame when doubled back within the same week!!! The pumpkin spice bread was more moist than most cakes I've had; I mean there was absolutely no glaze or icing, just some sort of sugar crust almost but it melts instantly in your mouth like cotton candy. I usually don't involve myself with pumpkin spice anything so I'm not sure if my palette is changing or they just completely knocked this bread out of this world. Now the sugar cookies: I have been searching high and low from bakeries in north, east, south in Kansas and Missouri and when I say nobody I mean NOBODY is making sugar cookies like this!!! I am extremely selective about sugar cookies as I've been to bakeries opened for decades and micro bakers who have been at it for years, but my taste buds have finally found a home inside this quaint panaderia. I couldn't make the birthday celebration this year as I just so happened to be able to come in the day before, but I have my calendar marked for next year around this time and every occasion in between! A few things to note: parking is limited and the space is small. There isn't pricing listed for anything but the syrups, oat milk and extra shot, I would love to see a pricing menu since I had to keep looking for an associate to ask for pricing for each item. However, each associate was happy to help! You can taste the love in every bite and this truly sets any business apart from others and creates a lane of their own. Thank you for putting your heart into creating something special, I hope your business continues to grow and receive all the love & support it deserves. Cheers!!!
