I haven't always been a big coffee drinker, but my girlfriend said there used to be a drink called the Hospital Hill. It's essentially the Honeycomb with Cinnamon. Ever since that day, I've been hooked (I prefer it made hot. Absolute game changer). Not only is the coffee good, but the staff is friendly, personable, and helpful which means a lot to me. There's a lot of staff to name, so I'll leave it off this review, but they have all been exemplary and I believe they make this place great. I highly suggest coming here and grabbing yourself a coffee. It's also a nice and relaxing environment to study or do homework. The lighting is dark enough that it's not interfering too much with whatever activity you're doing in the moment. I will definitely be returning here.

The amount I paid for the croissant and how large it appeared, you'd think it was filled with chocolatey goodness--it was disappointing to say the least, to find there were two measly strips inside; hardly worth the $5.75 I paid. The fact it came in an Ibis Bakery bag made me even more sad, thinking a reputable bakery would have lived up to its status. However, it's possible Ibis Bakery no longer has standards--so this part of a negative review is for them. Two stars for the pastry. :( The Roasterie Cafe in Leawood, however, was great! The coffee was delicious and the baristas were amazing. They helped me pick a new whole bean coffee and were friendly. As this was a grab and go effort, the place was busy, but I didn't stay, so as to the ambiance, about what you'd expect from a small cafe. Quaint but kind of packed. :)

I was told it would be less of a wait @ 1:00, but one friend thought maybe 11:00 when they open. As you can likely guess, the line was long as was the wait--over an hour! Service was great, despite how busy they were. I ordered the shrimp salad (which I'd never had) and it was delicious. The shrimp was cooked well and the flavor was tasty! For dessert I had the Raspberry Chocolate cake--so good I really wanted another slice! Despite how busy it was, I could still hear my friends over the low hum of other diners and the hustle and bustle of the servers and staff--a pleasant dining atmosphere anyway. I'm going to miss this location.

Although, it is advertised online, on social media, etc. So, it could be just me. Anyway, a friend and I met up on a Saturday morning, around 11AM, and thankfully we snagged two seats at the side table/bar! We got some of the last seats before a rush of people came in. There was quite a long line the entire time we were there and even as we were leaving. Parking was also quite hard to find as it is limited and the lot is shared by the other businesses next door. All to say, come early! Their lunch menu included a main dish, 1-3 sides depending on the main, dessert, and a drink. Since it was cold out, I was in the mood for some tea. Their tea selection was more expansive than I expected. It was hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Raspberry Tea and would get it again! They also offered coffee, soda, and iced tea. I was recommended the Quiche Lorraine, which came with 2 sides. My sides of choice were the green salad and carrot salad. The quiche first of all was a huge portion, and honestly, I shouldn't have finished it but kept eating because it was that good. It wasn't undercooked or runny, and it wasn't overcooked or dry either. The crust, which I equally enjoyed, was flaky and had the perfect texture. The salad and carrots were a nice, refreshing addition to the quiche. For dessert, my friend and I shared two desserts: Napoleon - layers of flakey puff pastry with vanilla cream and whipped cream topped with pink fondant icing + Hollander (I believe this was the name) - almond cake with apricot jam in a butter cookie shell. We were too full to finish it all, but we enjoyed every bite. The store itself had a wide variety of chocolates, pastries, and other goods for purchase. Whether you're looking for someplace to grab lunch or buy sweets, I would recommend Andre's!

A few months ago my sister and I hosted a baby shower for our other sister and after looking around an options we decided to go with McLains. It was a smaller group, and we were doing a brunch theme, and our sister LOVES sweets. That paired with our desire to support local, and our shared love of McLains, this was just the most obvious choice. We ended up ordering a cake and first of all I have to say their cake flavor choices are insane - I think we settled on a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (YUM), but I don't think you can go wrong here. We also ordered one of their pre-set pastry bundles for pick up and honestly everything was wonderful. I think I placed the order about a week out and it was ready when I came to pick it up. What pushed this experience into five star category for me? Just the friendliness of the staff, the serving tools they send you home with, and how thoughtful everyone was. The food was also really just exactly what we needed and it was so good there were hardly any leftovers, I think the kids cleared us out by lunch! At any rate, if you're on the hunt for a great spot to support for your next brunch event consider McLains - they won't let you down!

I love a lot of spots around the metro, but let's be honest, some of them get crazy busy and you end up waiting in line for a while. That's not a dealbreaker, but with a summer of social distancing, it's nice to have a spot like Annedore's that is tucked into the neighborhoods, has outdoor seating, and is never too busy. Their gelato is so good, and the service is friendly as it gets. We've made a tradition of walking up here as a family once a week, and together we've ordered or sampled: Cookies & Cream, Birthday Cake, Mint Chip, Chocolate Chip, Coconut, Strawberry, Berry Sorbet, Vanilla, and Lemon Basil. All are great (not crazy about the birthday cake one my kiddo always gets), the Berry Sorbet and Lemon Basil are standouts on a hot day. Their portions are generous, prices are very fair, the outdoor seating is great, and it's a very clean shop. Oh, and I recently discovered that macarons are delicious, and theirs are some of the best around. They're around $2.50 a pop and well worth it. I cannot recommend this place enough for gelato, macarons, and of course chocolate if that's your thing. Want to skip lines for ice cream (well, gelato) this summer and still support local? This is your spot. Bookmark it!

I saw a woman pour a little bit of vinegar into a little paper cup and sip it straight, so in true monkey-see-monkey-do fashion I did the same. My first taste was the White Peach Balsamic. Forget everything you know about balsamic vinegar, stuff this good is on a different plane of existence altogether. Wow! So syrupy and brightly flavored I now understood the glaring lack of bread cubes. Who needs them? The White Peach was like jam. I was instantly thinking of pouring it over ice cream, or ... ? It turned my world upside down. My budget permitted a purchase of just one bottle this trip, but you can rest assured I will be coming back to add to my collection. If you're curious, I chose the Lime Jalepeno Balsamic as my first bottle. All I add is a little oil, salt & pepper and I have a salad dressing that knocks my socks off!
