Recently came here on a business trip with some colleagues. Very nice ambiance and friendly staff. All items on the menu were unique and creative. I tried a wine flight which had fun options and lots of flavor. The other cocktail choices were interesting and different. The cheese board was delicious and the bread paired perfectly with the Brie. The entrees were all very concoctive and not something you'd find everywhere. I chose the burger that had Brie, pickled pear, and onions. Enjoyed a late evening dinner with my husband here over the weekend. Great atmosphere for a date night. The service alone deserves 5 stars. Our server was friendly and attentive, but not pushy or bothersome. We had the donuts for an appetizer. Overall they were good, but without the aioli they are really nothing special. We also tried the scallops which were cooked perfectly and the beluga lentils and cauliflower they were served with were wonderful and a bit unexpected. We also tried the rosemary parm fries which were pretty standard - again the aioli makes them. The best thing of the night, in my opinion was the Lynn's burger. I would go back to eat that anytime. They give you a couple samples of there famous salted chocolate chip cookies with their bill which is a nice touch especially if you're too full to order dessert. read more

This is a great date night spot. They have an impeccable wine selection. The menu can shift a bit and it can be a bit limited. Everything offered is done quite well. There aren't bad choices available. The service is highly attentive and casually laid back at the same time. It's hard to know where to begin with a perfect experience. Our server, Melinda, was marvelous and attentive. Every cocktail was balanced, thoughtful, and flavorful. Jake, the bartender and mixologist on staff is so passionate, professional, and precise. He knows his program well and is devoted to his incredible craft. Every course was extraordinary, and I can't begin to scratch the surface of the experience with words alone. The atmosphere was delightful, and most importantly we felt safe. With plexiglass screens and excellent covid precautions, this was the first date night my wife and I could experience without wondering what dangers we could be bringing home to our four month old son. We stopped in a nice Wednesday evening. Wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. I liked the patio out front but we choose inside. They have nice wood tables and chairs. They do a great job helping with the menu and keeping our waters full. Menu is easy to choose from and everything came out great. Taste was good but the portions maybe a bit small for me. I will spend the extra dollar Everytime for rosemary and garlic fries over the original. They are fresh made along with the ketchup if you are in to that kind of thing. Came with friends Sept of 2016 and experienced a much better meal than the first time around. This time our waiter was great. Had the Beet Salad, Salmon and a Pisco Punch. All were quite good. For the portion of Salmon the price was a bit high. You can also read my first review below. Gosh darn, I wanted my dinner to be great but alas I have mixed reviews. My waitress was adequate but unfriendly. Brought our food, didn't say a word. Never checked on us or asked us if we liked our food. My blood orange mojitos was disappointing, my cheese plate appetizer was fine. My pork chop was cooked nicely but hard to eat with so much fat. The polenta was a disappointment. The two tiny portions of corn on the cob were fantastic (wish there had been more). My cookies and cream dessert was a total let down. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The service was within expectation, but the food was good. I ordered the Duck Confit Tacos and I liked it. The flour tortilla appeared to be gently deep-fried and it was a little greasy just holding it, but it was a nice touch. The pickled toppings inside the taco were good, acidity was just right. The only complain is that I wish I had gotten more duck than cheese; the duck-cheese balance seemed a little off. I also ordered the Rosemary and Parmesan Fries. The fries were hand cut fries, nothing too surprising. I could barely taste the rosemary. Parmesan is expected. However, I also tasted some truffle? I wonder if they tossed the fries in truffle oil. I would say this is within expectation. For my beverage, I got the orange mint smash. I could not taste the mint, however, I do love the drink. Very refreshing, summer-y drink! I love this place.. First Time here and Yay! I'm a Fan! Great outdoor seating! Tons of really strange drinks on the menu and hold for it... hold for it... Multiple options for a VEGAN to eat! I choose the Veggie Burger I had to get it without the caramelized onions and mayo but it was still very delightful and on a home made bun! The french fries were incredible some of the best it town, super salty and cooked to perfection! My wife had a chicken/melt kinda sandwich which she dug, she also treated herself to a fancy scotch on the rocks since there was so many choices! Cheese boards abound at hipster-aspiring joints these days, but this cheese board had some real sophistication to it: homemade pickled veggies and jam were a delight with the intentional cheese options. The Chilean sea bass had a perfect pan-seared crispiness and was topped with--wait for it--a fennel bulb and tomato slaw (!). Word among the suburban moms is that Table 128 is the place to be during the lunch hour. I went on a Friday for lunch and I felt like I was in Real Housewives of Des Moines. That being said, it's a good place to grab lunch or dinner and enjoy some good drinks. If you have a large group I would call ahead and make reservations. Table 128 is clean and has a nice intimate feel. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and very understanding to the ladies next to us who had issues with their dishes. You'll get great service here. All the menu items are intriguing American dishes with unique twists that made me excited to choose. To start I ordered the mussels to share. They came swimming in yummy curry sauce if that's your thing. I then ordered the vegetarian and this is kind of when I started to feel like this place is just A-Ok. Although the plating was beautiful and the flavors all went well together, the tofu fell flat and the potatoes were undercooked, which makes me think consistency is lacking. Yet, I do want to come back here in the hopes that I can review again and try some other items. Maybe dinner? We ordered their Thanksgiving meal, which was plentiful and delicious. The turkey, gravy, and all the sides were flavorful the first time and easy to reheat for leftovers. Another reviewer mentioned the crunchy green beans-- we loved them that way, a nice contrast to the other "soft" foods. The wine pairings and dessert tarts were also a welcome change of pace. If you have an adventurous pallet, and you haven't tried Table 128, you're either an uber snob, or you just haven't heard of it. I had the duck nachos, jalapeño Donuts for starters. The nachos were for individual portions, tasty, but lacking enough duck! The donuts, recommended by my server Jessica as her personal favorite, were i n c r e d i b l e! Enough for two and not like any donut I've ever had, actually the label of donut sells them short of what they truly were, amazing. As if the starters weren't enough, I went with the Beef Cheek for the main. Asparagus, risotto, beef cheeks, in a perfect presentation and portion flavor explosion. Octopus- not very good and we love octopus. This was charred and not tender. Don't offer octopus, if you can't cook it. Went to eat at Table 128 for a friend's surprise birthday dinner, but when we got there our table was not ready. I got there at 7:45pm and the reservation was for 8pm. The birthday boy showed up at 8:05pm and our table was still not ready, so everyone said surprise at the door. It would have been nice to all be seated so he couldn't see us when walking in. When we all got seated the service was very good. Since we had a large party, everyone had to order ahead of time and person organizing the party also place orders for appetizers and entrees for the table to share. The appetizers and entrees were brought out really fast. Plus they took our drink orders rather quickly too. The tuna, mussels, meat and cheese plate, and parmesan fries were all very good. I could have just eaten the appetizers and have been satisfied. The tuna had a nice sear to it and had a lot of flavor for how simple it was cooked. The mussels were in a curry broth so that was a nice touch. The cheese plate had around 5 different cheeses to try and they weren't too funky for my taste :) And the parmesan fries were very good since the added cheese made it different from ordinary fries. I ordered the Pork Shank and my girlfriend ordered the Cassoulet (duck ). My entrée was very good. Plenty of meat with all of its meaty goodness! Not too salty and the sweet potato puree was a nice touch. I don't enjoy all mushrooms but the ones that were in this dish was very good. The Cassoulet looked good, but it was quite salty to the point that it was overbearing. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner experience at Table 128. The service for when we were seated was exceptional, but the service up front wasn't so much. The hostess only updated us like once while we were all waiting for our table to be ready. Plus it was a little awkward while we all waited for our table to be ready with the birthday boy just standing there. The whole point of having the dinner here was to surprise someone and that wasn't achieved. If you're looking for a nice dinner this place should be on your list, just don't plan a surprise party here...unless you tell your friends to show up 1 hour early :) read more

I met a friend on Thursday night at Table 128. It was the first time I had eaten there and so I did not have an opinion going in. The bartender Amanda was friendly, we ordered a bottle of wine and a couple of sides to share. All was beautiful, tasty, and I definitely wanted to come back to try more of the menu. I paid my bill with my debit card and left a 20% tip. I checked my bank statement yesterday and discovered I had been charged $10 more than I had authorized. I called the restaurant and the phone was answered by David. He listened to me and then said he was in the middle of a busy lunch service and would pass my message on to the owner of the restaurant. I waited for a call back and never received a call. I called back today after I felt the lunch service would be over. The call was again answered by David, he stated they were in the middle of an employee meeting and that he had passed my message on and hung up while I was still talking. I did receive a call from the owner after posting my review on social media. She states it was human error (due to my handwriting and low lighting) and will refund the $10. My response to the human error was, well, if the post of the 4 went up and looked like a 1 in front of the tip, the total certainly didn't look like 57 instead of 47, right? So, I will pick up the refund. I feel like I have been STOLEN FROM and that the restaurant acted FRAUDULENTLY, taking whatever amount they wanted from my bank account. I have LOST TRUST with this local business. 0 STARS. Absolutely no service recovery done by the owner, so I will not be back as a patron. read more

Table 128 blew me out of the water for a nice date night. Upscale, intimate ambiance, delicious food what more could you ask for? My date and I shared the crab corn starter and it was SO GOOD. It was the perfect amount too! I started with the Poinsettia Cocktail which was festive. This is one of my favorite places to go in Urbandale for a nice lunch. They have some of the best food as well as service I've had in a long time. This is located not too far from my work, so its perfect for business lunches. It does get busy, so if you have a large group, call a head. If you go with a group of friends, make sure take advantage of their amazing apps, Angry Donuts, Toasties, Rosemary and Parmesan fries are so delicious! 5 stars doesn't express how satisfied I was with this place. The quality of food, presentation, service, and environment are incredible. It's a small and cozy place you would want to take a date to for some amazing food and drinks. We ordered around 6 different appetizers and individual dishes. Their tuna was amazing, and the mussels people couldn't stop talking about. Everything was really good. Obviously there were favorites, but all the dishes were good or great. We don't have too many really nice restaurants on the west side of Des Moines, but I could safely say this is currently my favorite. Superb lunch. This was my first time here and the restaurant was so busy during lunchtime on a weekday that the only available seating without a reservation was outside (so I'd recommend making one if you want a guaranteed table). We started off with a splendid cheese plate ($16) that was the perfect size for 2 people. The cheese varies daily and comes in an assortment of 3 along with tomato jam (I did not expect this to taste as good as it did), pickled mustard, proscuitto and almonds. Furthermore, the bread that came along tasted freshly baked, not cheap at all and was the perfect pairing. There is a "pick 2" from soup/salad/sandwich lunch special that is only $10!! I ordered the black bean soup and kale salad. The soup was average and a little watery, but the kale salad was great -- fresh and the dressing was good. Combined with the cheese plate, it was a fantastic and filling lunch. Overall, Table 128 really pays attention to detail in everything from service to decor and especially the food itself.
