Great atmosphere, excellent service. We really need more places with good food and cocktails in an outdoor atmosphere around this area, and Taberna is filling that gap. Cocktails were great. I had a couple of the dirty martinis, and my wife had a few old fashioneds. However, calling this a "tapas" place is a little inaccurate; the portions are hearty American-sized appetizers (fairly priced) and not really Spanish at all. I've been here a few times and I will average out my experience. I think the service is going down hill, we waited way too long for a drink, the chicken tacos were really dry, the cheese nachos were fine, didn't get a napkin or a plate until 10 minutes after our food was delivered. A couple things....menu is not great, service is slow and always seems they're short staffed. We llive in La Verne and even tho we always walk here to have a drink with our kids during the day and night because it was fun for our kids. We take them to country night to dance and have fun and for some reason they didn't let my kids in one night and the security said the owner saw the cameras and didn't allow it. We went yesterday because we wanted to go out but not many places were still open at 9pm. It was also raining, but they had an amazing HUGE outdoor seating area with plenty of outdoor heaters and really cool fire pits so we decided to sit outside. We ordered 4 different tapas and my husband had 2 beers and a margarita. We really loves the Street Corn and my husband especially loves the sausages. This place is a disgrace to say the least. It seems to me there's always issues. The staff is so rude and disrespectful to their guests. It seems there's never any higher authority working when this crap goes on. Who's running this place? There's a bouncer named Jim a young kid that is absolutely awful at his job. He's more concerned on looking cool in front of his young buddies that are always so belligerent (they seem to be off the clock employees as well) and always starting fights with the older guests that are just trying to have a nice time and relax. They serve the cheapest drinks and mediocre food. Most of all, their DJ are so loud and terrible. NOT the right vibe for quaint La Verne. Maybe something you might see in Pomona. There is a beautiful wine shop and classy restaurant right next to this BAR (They claim they are a restaurant, but they are really a BAR). The wine shop and restaurant have to suffer with this bar's noise and rowdy crowd day in and day out. The staff is really disrespectful and immature. Taberna - Tapas Bars Near Me - La Verne, California

Visited this place last weekend and immediately left. It says that they're enforcing social distancing and limited capacity. On the outside, it didn't appear that they were that busy so I went inside. Had to place a reservation for a table but the host and security guard suggested the bar for the time being. Upon walking outside to the patio, there was zero social distancing with a VERY HIGH capacity. People were everywhere with a drink within inches of each other not social distancing.. nobody was wearing a mask. The bar was packed. We had so much fun there last night. We were looking for a place where we could talk with friends, have good food, be in a cozy atmosphere, and dancing if we felt like it. This was so perfect. We had tons of appetizers and it had that intimate feeling with the fire pits. After some cocktails and full bellies we felt like dancing and didn't have to go anywhere because a DJ starting playing some great beats. i don't frequent la verne often so i don't know many places but i passed by this bar/ restaurant that looked like a house and it drew my attention, i stopped in for some food and a few drinks and was met with some of the best service ive ever received the waitress was an absolute sweetheart and the bartender had made me feel like we've been friends for years (he was very good at getting me to spend more money lol) but it was honestly a 10/10 experience and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Thought this was a good place the first time, good drinks, great server. Second time the Server was horrible. Food not good. She didn't show up until after we asked the bartender if we could order with him and he went to go look for her. She was rude when she arrived at our table. Then didn't bring us what we ordered. I've just recently moved to the area and this bar has quickly become my favorite. The service is excellent; they are quick, social and make quality drinks. Micheal is very attentive and creates a great atmosphere. They have good specials and Dodger game specials that make it a great place to watch the games. Really wanted to like this place as a new addition to the quaint downtown La Verne area. I was disappointed with the 3 items I ordered: 1) Sangria was slightly watered down and what flavor it did have was not good. Maybe they are using the wrong wine or not adding enough additional flavors to it but the sangria I make at home is way better. I couldn't event drink it- not worth the calories. Closed my tab with a full glass on the table still 2) burrata salad- I love burrata! But this was pretty sad. Basically a lump of burrata cheese on a bed of arugula. I mean, add some tomatoes and basil or pesto for additional flavor. It needs improvement. 3) quesadilla al pastor- really I only had 1-2 bites but it was a bit dry...a quesadilla should be CHEESY! The al pastor meat had good flavor, I'll give you that. Atmosphere- I give a 2...live music outside could have been nice to enjoy but it was conflicting with the music inside and it was just too much going on at once to be able to focus on any one sound, let alone have a conversation with your dinner mate. If there's live music, turn off the inside music or vice verse. Inside is loud and there is nothing to dampen the sound. Service- everyone was really nice! But maybe if they came to check on us they would have learned that I wasn't digging the Sangria and I could have got something else prior to actually paying my bill. If these are supposed to be Tapas, you guys gotta step up your game- more flavor and more Spanish authenticity otherwise, we can just drive 10 more min to Claremont and eat at Viva Madrid. Really hoping some things improve...hoping for the best...I love La Verne and supporting local businesses but you gotta have a reason for people to want to come back. read more

I used to love this place but it has gone down hill since March of last year. If I could give less than one star I would. Girls were incredibly rude especially Nadia. I came in with some friends for a quick drink while doing a bar crawl we each had one shot since this was our first bar, which took over 20 minutes to get help even though it was only us and about 5 other people in the entire bar, and then I asked to close out was brought our tab and tried to give them my card to which I was immediately told "we can't take card right now we're switching bartenders" and I said okay then I will give you cash. Our bill was about $40 for 4 shots! Already insane, then when I gave them cash they said no again because they are switching bartenders so I said okay I can wait and they said well the back up bartender isn't here yet. So I don't understand why I couldn't close out, I asked when the other bartender would be there they said about 10-15 minutes. We just ended up leaving cash and heading out because that was so confusing and ridiculous. We tried again later that night to which we watched Nadia, she said her name was, get in someone's face screaming at them as they tried to enter the bar all over a boy that the girl was there with from what we heard because we were sitting right there. We ordered our food while listening to the DJ play, when we were told that after we were finished eating that we had to leave because it was 21 and older after 9 pm. I felt mislead because there was no mention when we arrived also no postings at the front or back doors or on their website. If so I would of left my child at home. read more
