Outside the convenience store. Storefront. This TA Travel Center is called the "Greensboro Travel Center."

This is TA store #2, as printed on the top of my gas receipt and on TA's website (technically, #002 on the site). It's located just off I-85/I-40 exit 138 (NC 61 - Gibsonville) in Whitsett, North Carolina. The outside of the convenience store says, "Greensboro Travel Center." Whitsett is a small town east of Greensboro. It's about halfway between Greensboro and Burlington. I think this is one of the better gas stations to stop at on the merged stretch of I-85 and I-40 in between the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point) and the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill). This is a truck stop, so it has more to offer. For example, Burger King and Popeyes are attached to the store here. Comparable gas stations/truck stops along this stretch include the Pilots at exits 132 (McLeansville), 150 (Haw River), and 152 (Mebane). There's also a Flying J across the street from the Pilot at exit 150. At the time of writing this review, I'd say those plus this TA in Whitsett are my go-to gas stations in between the Triad and Triangle. If anyone knows better, let me know. Note: I-85 overlaps with I-40 in between I-40 exits 227 and 259. In between those exits, the I-85 exit numbers, 131 to 163, prevail. This TA location uses BP gas. There are 12 pumps. During our visit, at least three were out of order. I used pump #5. There was a sticker of Joe Biden pointing at the total price of gallons pumped with the caption, "I DID THAT!" Heh. I'm not sure he's to blame. Google it. TA stands for TravelCenters of America. "TravelCenters" being one word in this case. I'd return to TA #2 if I needed gas, a restroom break, and/or Burger King or Popeyes. The property felt fairly spacious, clean, and safe.

Pump 12 out of paper. Employee giggled "ya, we've been out of paper". I don't want to go inside to stand in line to get a receipt because neither Management nor Employees give a sh**. I'm going to be contacting corporate to file a complaint against this location.

Truck stop and service station right off I-85. Very large fuel bays for those who drive the bigger vehicles. Easy access. Inside, the convenience store is very well stocked with everything the road traveler needs, including caffeine, sugar and salty snacks. Plus DVD's, car and truck accessories, ballcaps, you name it. Bathroom was very clean. At the moment, this location includes a Burger King and Popeye's. I didn't visit either of those today.

Worst BK ever. Ordered a whopper, took 2 bites wondering where's the beef patty and I opened it and got 2 small patties. To make it worse, it was colder than room temperature. Ate half because im a trucker and didnt eat till dinner and now throwing up chunks ...I think I got food poisoning. Ordered diet coke to go with it n I got regular coke.

My college-aged daughter who was in NC for school brought her CRV in because the Check Engine Light…read moreand a couple other indicator lights were on. She called to tell me that Womble ran a diagnosis and recommended an oil change and replacement of three parts related to the solenoid. They said this is a common problem with CRVs. My research suggested that issues with these parts could lead to engine knocking, reduced acceleration, reduced fuel efficiency, rough idling, etc. She was experiencing none of that, and that was conveyed to Womble. My research also suggested that solenoid issues are rare in CRVs, and solenoids can often last the life of the vehicle. I called my mechanic in Pittsburgh, and he said if the oil was low or contaminated, it could trigger the indicator lights, and he would start there before throwing three new parts at the problem. We had Womble do the oil change, but they also charged us over $150 for a diagnosis fee. It's been almost three weeks now, and my daughter has since driven the car 14 hours round-trip with no engine issues, and the indicator lights have not returned. I called Womble to request a refund on the diagnosis fee, which I believed to be unnecessary and excessive since a simple oil change fixed the problem. The owner told me he had documented that my daughter said the engine was making noise, even though I have a documented text exchange with her from that day where she specifically said there was no noise and that, other than the warning lights, the car seemed normal. Then the mechanic who worked on the car told me they "inferred a solenoid noise" based on what they were seeing (How in the world can one infer a noise?? It's either there or it isn't). When I asked for a refund on the diagnosis fee, I was told that they pay tens of thousands of dollars on diagnostic equipment, so they can't work for free, and that slavery was outlawed in the '60s (an ignorant, ill-informed comment that I found highly offensive). The mechanic said I was not remembering our original conversation correctly, but he remembers our white CRV clearly (the car is actually silver). I had my daughter choose this business because they generally had positive reviews online, but I feel she and I were taken advantage of. It is my opinion, and the opinion of my personal mechanic, that they could have determined in just a few minutes that the oil needed to be changed and recommended that we start there rather than incurring additional diagnostic fees.
