I entrusted a 1970 Chevy C-10 pickup to be restored with Jim Hammersla, owner of Hammersla's Autobody. He is indeed a charmer. I bemoaned how every shop I contacted in my NJ/NY/PA tristate area seemed shady, was too expensive, did not do this kind of work, or needed at least a year. I called Jim from a third-party recommendation (MAACO, with whom Jim lost or dissolved his franchise--I suspect the former), and he explained I had contacted the right business. Promised: restoration in under a year, no more than $30,000 cost, and wonderful results from his kids (his team). I even bought him and his wife dinner. We seemed to be getting along. That was May of 2022. It is now January 2025. I recently reached out to him, but he replied with a notarized "DO NOT CONTACT" letter, not signed by a judge (no judge would ever sign), and he wishes to charge me $58 a day storage fees. He has over $7000 of new parts (suspension system, disc brakes, chassis, and more), my truck engine and exhaust system, and my BF Goodrich tires and wheels. I am the client. I am trusting his years of experience and integrity. I was yelled at continuously on the phone by Jim whenever I reached out about the delays. I was told I was at fault. And that now, in his notarized reply, he wishes to charge me for holding my truck two years over the agreed date of completion. THIS LATEST LETTER FROM HIM, I HOPE, CONVINCES YOU, THE READER, THAT HE IS A LIAR AND THIEF. I am pursuing Consumer Fraud and televised media as well to bring his malfeasance to light.

Jim enjoys laying the blame of his lack of progress on the client--an astounding talent. The truck was to be auctioned off for the LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY to raise funds for cancer clinical trials. He was quick to get to me and was super nice and helpful. Due to the battery being completely dead and corroded we couldn't get the car into neutral so he helped get it into neutral. Additionally once the car was on the truck he asked if any keys on the key ring I might need which I hadn't even thought about. Overall it was a great experience super quick and very helpful. Way better than other experiences I've had in the past.

He also said they would have to tow it from the rear and because it had a hard, folding bed cover (factory installed) his boss would not allow them to tow it. Afraid the cover would blow off and damage the cab (not likely with a folding hard cover). I called AAA back and they are sending another company. They confirmed that their carriers use dollies, skates and whatever is necessary all the time. So, if you want a bunch of excuses as to why they can't tow your vehicle - call A&D. If you don't want to waste your time - call another towing company.

We thought we had made a great choice because there were many positive reviews of this mower, However, when it was delivered, we tested it. We were upset because it was quite difficult to cut the grass when going uphill. The Toro online store said we cannot return the product once we have added fuel (gas and oil) to it. That's when I called The Hitch Man, and Adam said I should bring the mower to his store in Taneytown, MD, and that he would do his best to help. Once I went over to the store, Adam and his team helped me take the heavy mower out of my minivan, they added their own gas, and adjusted the mower so that it could propel easily up hill. I am grateful for Adam and his team. I recommend this store 100%.

The days came and went and I called and talked to their lady in billing and she gave me some story about the the person processing the returns, being out sick, and no one else could do it. I waited and the following week nothing, and I called back again, she told me he was trying to catch up now, he hasn't got caught up with all his work. I called again on. August 26, a full 22 days later, than I did the return. This woman was very rude to me and told me I needed to calm down and talked down to me. I was understandably upset, and I used a cuss word in a sentence, but not directed at her, and she said don't cuss at me, and I said I didn't, I just used it in a sentence. she continued to lecture me and talk down to me instead of working on the problem. I said you can understand why I'm angry, because it's been 22 days.. and instead of helping me , she hung up on me. Then I called back and try to talk to another person who couldn't even help me. He looked up the account online for me after I gave him the invoice number, but he said I can't help you. Then the owner calls me and he proceeded to talk down to me and acted like I did something wrong. I told him his billing department woman wouldn't help me, and I did use a cuss word and I shouldn't have, but at that point I was understandably upset. And then he told me to F*** off, at this point, my daughter heard him say this to me, and came to my defense and started yelling and cussing, because he was on speaker. I told my daughter to shut up and get out of the room, because I was angry because she always interferes on my calls. But absolutely none of the owners business. Then the owner called me a piece of shit and said I'm not gonna help you. You treat your daughter like crap. What kind of father are you? What kind of person are you. you sound like a piece of s**** and I said look, I just want my return. It's been 22 days and I'm tired of the runaround. He proceeded at this point to continue belittling me, telling me I was a bad parent, and a bad person. I said, you know maybe I should just come down there and he started getting an attitude like he wanted to fight me and he's like oh yes, come on down, I would love that....... A slight pause and then, he said to me again, " come on down here" and then he hung up on me. Instead of me going there, because he obviously wanted to fight me and I didn't want to get in trouble. I decided to write this review. I decided to write this Google review to warn everyone. Do not buy anything from them, and if you do, make sure you don't have to bring it back, because you will go thru hell trying to get your money back. and they will belittle you and treat you like it's your problem, that you're mad . I will never do business with them again and I hope this review saves people from having to go through the runaround that I had to go through. It is now the end of the day and they still haven't processed the return.
