It is big & airy with plenty of space for prams, wheelchairs etc. Unfortunately they're really the only things going for it. Myself & my friend both ordered pots of tea. Reading off the tea menu they both sounded awesome, & full of flavor, but in reality they were incredibly weak with maybe a teaspoon full of tea in each pot. That was the first disappointment. The second was the food. There wasn't a huge range but being a tea house that didn't really bother me. What did bother me was that the "assorted quiche" that I ordered came out crazy hot fresh from the microwave, on a chipped plate with a mental fork & wooden disposable knife & not a side, salad or garnish in sight. I've had better quiche in a takeaway container :( I really wouldn't bother going back.

The space is quite inviting and plenty of room for the pram. There is also a high hair available. I have made several visits here and have always received genuinely friendly service. There is quite a lengthy menu of teas to choose from. This time I chose a pot of the Organic Genmaicha, and after letting it brew for an extra minute like my server suggested, it was perfect. Then I had the spinach/leek/feta quiche filo, which was served warm but without any accompaniments. This was agreeable enough, but one does wonder, why does it come with a metal fork and wooden knife? My curiosity got the better of me and I asked the server - the wooden cutlery is used because it is eco friendly, however they found that the wooden forks weren't really working, so metal forks are used instead. So now you know. There was a great selection of desserts, and I couldn't resist the white chocolate gluten free friand. It was just what I was wanting, sweet and dense, however next time I will take then up in their offer to warm it up first (it was a bit cold having been in their refrigerated display case). All in all this is a spot I would choose again for a quiet cup of tea, but will probably lunch elsewhere next time.

The State of Mind : I really don't want to fight through the last minute crowds but at least I'll be able to grab a coffee to get rid of the remaining effects of last night's champagne. Actually it's a little more desperate than that. I need coffee and I don't care what the coffee is like. Just give me a café, a seat and someone who will make me a coffee and I'm there. The Outcome : Jackpot! I stumble upon Ang's Café at Marion Westfield and have unknowingly discovered a gem of a coffee shop that I'm sure to visit again. Having made purchases at the Seafood shop on one side of Ang's and the Health Food Shop on the other, I just couldn't be bothered walking to any of my normal haunts so in I went only to discover this place was a WINNER. After I opened my eyes and looked properly at Ang's I realised they actually sell coffee beans and blends and specialise in coffee and tea. They also have a selection of food on offer but I have to admit I didn't try anything in that department. Everything looked fresh and tasty though. What I can vouch for is that this place knows their beans and to my neverending surprise I enjoyed a great cup of coffee.

This is my first time ordering at this cafe as I'm not a Marion local but love the place itself…read more I've heard a lot of great things about the coffee here and there over the years and couldn't pass by trying it myself one day shopping on my own. I ordered a long black mug with a dash of cold milk. It was amazing! It wasn't scorching hot as what they usually can be so was able to drink it shortly after. It was quite strong tasting which is what I like, with smooth and rich overtones. It was no way bitter or sour or weak as what you can find sometimes with ordinary coffee houses. So in that case I didn't need to add much milk at all, neither any sugar or sweeteners. All I ordered was a coffee so that's all I can critique, and it was absolutely top notch. In terms of the cafe itself it's nicely laid out with ample seating. They're going for the real rustic look with dark wooden features throughout, which is a favourite of mine, although I see a few things seem dated and plain and could do with some touching up. They display several large jars and canisters where they have large varieties of different flavoured coffee beans and teas, which I can see are for wholesale. They have a couple display fridges where they show a very large variety of different sweet and savoury foods. I see muffins, slices, biscuits, cakes, tarts, banana bread... As well as other things like croissants, quiches and fresh rolls. All in all I'm impressed. This would be my number one preference for a coffee when stopping here on a regular day. Well worth a try.

Offering oriental tea and high quality asian cuisine, the Shanghai Tea House is the perfect place to relax and to escape the hassles of everyday life. The diverse range of tea is astonishing. Wether your looking for a classic or are in the mood for something unique the Shanghai Tea House will look after you. The tea is of the highest quality and is served in large portions. If your not into your hot tea I seriously recommend the lemon ice tea as it puts any mainstream and mass-produced brand to shame. The staff are extremely helpful, efficient and somehow they always seemed to be smiling. It may be hard for me to admit, but I am still mastering the art of 'chopsticks". However this has never stopped me continuously attempting to perfect the skill . After my 5th consecutive dumpling drop one staff member approached to congratulate me on my chopstick persistence. This clearly surprised my dining company as they had clearly witnessed my inadequate skill. What they didn't realise was the staff member had sneakily passed me a fork under the table...just incase I needed it. It is this kindness and personal approach to dining that has gained my repeat service and made the Shanghai Tea house a unique asset to the Burnside Village Shopping Centre.

The dumplings aren't top notch but if you're looking for a quick bite or some sit down and relax tea time, this may be the place for you. I find the dumpling skins a little too thick so word of warning if you are about to order some yumcha. But nevertheless, the prawn fillings are fresh and it takes them less than 10 minutes to bring out the dishes when it's not too busy in the afternoon!
