I was so thrilled to find this place, because I have a very energetic puppy who needs to run and play for at least half an hour every evening. Capitol Hill/Central District is missing a good dog park/off-leash area, and I was really getting tired of going to Magnuson 3-4 times/week after work!
So I'm really grateful that the people who run this school allow us neighborhood dog owners to let our dogs off-leash here in the evenings. The dogs tend to be pretty well-behaved and socialized, and the other owners are friendly. My dog loves it here and has made a bunch of "dog pals."
A few notes for dog-owners: the best time to come here is generally between 5:30 and 7:00 on weekday evenings. One thing to note is that the north entrance is open to the street, so if you have a dog that likes to run off, this may not be the safest park. Also, there's no separation between the grass area where the dogs hang out and the playground, so you do have to watch your dogs to make sure they don't jump up on/bother the kids (... my puppy may be guilty of attempting this - I always bring treats to lure him away ...). read more
