My husky at the top of the structure, and me heading down from the top.

This dog park is in the middle of Belltown, you really can't expect it to be huge or anything. The size of this dog park is pretty darn small, however it is filled with ramps and structures made for the dogs to romp around. The area is either covered with concrete (like a sidewalk) or mulch. It's not a dog park I would recommend to ball fetchers, as it is too small and there are too many structures in the way. However, it is a good place for dogs to socialize. Given the location and the maintenance of this park, it's as good as it gets. I always drive by this dog park, just looking at the size of it; I never gave it a chance. I feared that this park was only visited by small breed dogs, which often times is overwhelmed by my husky. However a friend of mines lives in Belltown and asked if I wanted to join her, so I thought why not? When I arrived, there were several medium to large breed dogs (including a Great Dane) and only about a couple of small breed dogs. I was pretty surprised, I assumed that only locals would visit this dog park, and given that there are only apartments and condos in the area, I didn't think I would see any dogs larger than a Boston terrier visiting this dog park. My husky had a grand time, he LOVES to socialize, and he even climbed on to the large structure in the corner to get a view of everything! Would I come back again? Probably, but I wouldn't say that this would be my go to dog park. I still prefer a larger dog park, however if I was ever in the area again with my husky or visiting my friend again, I would definitely stop by.

My pup is pooped from fetch, but his paws paid for it at this all gravel poorly funded dog park.

I wish there were more dog parks with grass in the city. This is a nice location, however it is really dirty. There are clumps of dog hair everywhere. There are a lot of sketchy people in the area. In addition the rocks are terrible for your dog's paw pads. My dog loves playing fetch and unfortunately I didn't think that his paws would get so torn up. We are never going back to this dog park. The city needs to invest in more dog friendly parks as there are more dogs than children in this city.

Goof Ball Hank!

Small but perfect if you live downtown! Close to some of the best restaurants in the area! Mama's Kitchen even let me dine in their outside seating area with my big yellow pooch, Hank! This park is also with-in the free bus ride area for downtown. Dogs are allowed on metro busses! Seattle ROCKS!

Awesome piano that sits outside of the dog park!

Here's the thing - I don't like dog parks in general. I think they are a hotbed of bad behavior (human and dog) and pretty risky all around. Dogwood is different. The rules are enforced - (look at the other ratings, the negative ones are from ages ago. Maybe they improved?) - there are staff and "regulars" all over the place, keeping eyes on behavior and monitoring sizes, barking, play, etc. They require spay/neuter, which automatically helps keep things calmer. Being able to grab a cider and a snack and watch my pup play is SO cool! The people (guests and staff) were friendly, and more importantly, so were the dogs! Max made some great friends, and his energy was appreciated and not scolded! (He's not quite two. He's energetic, but not aggressive or reactive.) They request that people not bring treats or personal toys into the play area, and this really does cut down on resource guarding and similar behavior. They told me they wash/sterilize the balls every night, and that made me feel good. This is Max's new favorite place!! My partner and I plan on at least once/week outings here!!!!

One thing we noticed was a couple of smaller dogs wanting to instigate, but the staff was very proactive on noticing the behaviors and acting on them. The last time I did this my Apple Watch said I had climbed what is equivalent to 22 flights of stairs. The final stretch is steep and your legs will definitely know that you earned the view. The beautiful flowers and trees also make the walk worth it during the spring and summer months. There is a nice resting area at the top. I am also happy to now see snack vendors setting up here because a cold drink really helps before walking back down. As someone who lives in the area I would not drive up. Street parking is limited and always seems to be full. The hunt for parking might become its own workout. I am not sure if it is officially part of the park but there is also a playground for kids a few sets of steps downhill. Do not forget to walk over to Parsons Gardens to see the flowers during the summer. You should also stop at Marshall Park for views of Elliott Bay and the cruise ships on a clear day. The walk along the West Queen Anne retaining walls also offers beautiful scenic views. Kerry Park is a must visit in Seattle. It is also a great local walk to enjoy with your dog friends.

Everything is fenced, which makes it easy to relax and let your dog enjoy some freedom. One of our favorite features is the dog beach, where the dogs can access the water and play. Whenever we come to Seattle with our dog, we make a point to stop here. It's such a great place to spend a few hours and let your dog really enjoy themselves. The park itself is huge and has other recreational areas to explore, but we usually stick to the off-leash area and dog beach. We absolutely love this spot and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Seattle with their dog!

Magnuson off leash park is HUGE to put it simply. There are few gates to enter into, one of which is right near the "small" dog section of the dog park which is nice the other entrances lead to a huge field mixed with grass but is mostly dirt. At the entrance are some hoses to hydrate the dogs or hose them down quickly before entering of leaving. On really hot days I'll spray my pup quickly to cool him down. From there, there is another little area not as big as the main area, but there are some additional benches and is a bit more secluded than the main. The main area has a little info board, lost and found and a covering with a table and bench so you can set things down if need be. There is a path that's maybe 0.5 mile walk that leads to the main attraction here, a nice little cove of water where the pups can go jump in the water. It's great. My pup is a tri-pawd and doesn't really swim but does like the water. There is a nice long running mat that leads into the water. It lets him gradually get into the water and it is such a thoughtful addition there. I find the people at this area are generally nice and have had pleasant visits each time here. Best Off leash area I've visited thus far.

For the most part, we haven't run into any issues bringing our senior pup here (he's a chihuahua beagle mix) and he does well meeting all the other dogs and people. Over summer - the dog park can get pretty smelly. I think it's from those hose/water run off but there have been some days where it smelled kind of gross so we left. Also, always watch your pup around the drinking bowl and run the water to make sure it's fresh and not stagnant or contaminated! This set up reminds me of the one by Amazon, just a lot larger while still being only a mid to small sized dog park. Dog parks come in so many sizes. I can see my dog from anywhere in here with plenty of running room for all the pets and their owners. Nice job on this one. Probably the best dog park in the area based on size, offerings, and cleanliness. There isn't a bunch of dirt or gravel like many of the dog parks so your dog will stay relatively clean. Huge bonus in my opinion. I avoid many parks because my dog immediately gets so dirty.
