My first review for what we call in the Netherlands a 'snack bar' and I am considering carefully how many 'stars' do you assign to such a place?
Because as far as snack bars go, this one is my preferred location (of the 3 in our village) but that is mostly because they have the nice and sweeter peanut sauce--which I like but does not represent the 'official' version of the Indonesian peanut sauce--it is probably just the kid in me that likes it.
So why do I dare to judge? I ate the fried half chicken the other day, as a salute to the Dutch 'vette hap' or fat bite, as us Dutchies call fast food--a much better translation of its content, I cannot help but feel. And if it had been decently fried, I would have given them four stars, but unfortunately the chef cooked it way too long and sometimes it felt like I was chewing on a piece of jerky: way too hard, still a tiny little bit of chicken taste left. Whereas we had requested he fry the french fries longer, and he didn't.
Of course, you can always get the old and trustworthy coffee and applepie (from frozen but not bad ;0) and not worry about the food.
Maybe this is the way the new chef operates, as I did not recognize him from before, but I hope the old one comes back so I can update this review. read more
