On Sunday I received a last minute request to get a couple of dozen shirts for Tuesday. One-color front and back w/ 3XL in the mix. Google gave me 3 options and I emailed artwork to all 3 Sunday night. The first and most thorough response was from Harvey. He also asked that I contact him first thing Monday morning. In 5 minutes he gave me options on printing, blanks, shipping and pricing. He even found a typo in my rushed artwork that I edited and sent him while we were talking. Later in the morning (after I'd already ordered from Harvey) I received a much higher estimate and a note saying they couldn't pull it off in time. The only glitch in the order - the shirts arrived 15 minutes early! Of course that was nothing they could control, so I will let them slide. Of course we were happy with the production or we wouldn't be writing this post. Crisp shirts, folded neatly with great screen quality. I have placed multiple orders with T-shirt Express with general satisfaction, but after this last one, I will be taking my company's business elsewhere. The President and CEO Harvey helped me with my most current order, and I thought he was very unprofessional, unaccommodating, and at times plain rude. There were multiple occasions that he claimed to have never received my emails, or sent a response that "got lost in cyber space." If this is the case, then the company has a serious email problem and should look into getting it fixed because it is unacceptable for a business to not follow up with clients. In addition, Harvey refused to accommodate the one custom request for my print job. He told me that it was impossible to print a one-color text logo across a full buttondown shirt, which I know is not true because I approached other vendors who could do this without a problem. The only reason I was stuck with T-shirt Express is because we needed the shirts on a very tight deadline that unfortunately only they could meet. Lastly, the day before the shirts were due, I called to confirm everything was on schedule. It was not until then that Harvey told me that they absolutely CANNOT deliver the shirts to my company and that someone will need to come pick them up. He vehemently refused to send a delivery person, claiming that they are "too busy," even though they have delivered my orders in the past and without a problem. This is the last straw in the T-shirt express nightmare, and I will not be recommending their business to anyone. I would say that the only benefit to using T-shirt express is the quicker turnaround time, however be prepared for a lot of unnecessary stress when doing so. I place tshirt orders for my workplace a few times during the year, so they just lost a repeat customer due to terrible customer service. read more

At first, I was a little skeptical about this place after reading some negative reviews. I had to make a custom t-shirt with a two color logo. I almost decided to shop at Zazzle until I saw the shipping charges. I needed the shirt to be done within 2 days. The only way to get it express (1 business day after manufacturing) costs $22.99. Only shipping. Now add up the actual cost of the Women's American Apparel T-Shirt $23.95. If I was stupid enough to order it from Zazzle, I'd end up paying $47 for my order. I picked up the phone and called T-Shirt Express to check their prices. The guy on the phone was very nice and professional. It turned out that they can make the same style t-shirt for $35. In addition, it's super express service. When I stopped by the shop, Tricia, the lady who works there, was very helpful. I could try on the actual t-shirt to make sure I'm ordering the right size. I gave her the exact instructions which she carefully wrote down. She did pay attention to detail. The next day, they sent me an email to approve the final artwork, so I could pick up my t-shirt the same day. From the beginning to the end of the process, they provided a great service. When i first entered Tshirt express, i thought "Hey this place looks good and busy" I was told by harvey to come on in and wait as he finishes with a customer. While waiting I was listening to the conversation he was having with the customer ( The place is not that big and they were face to face) The customer there had gotten 25 shirts printed he was a artist and drew his design and needed shirts for a festival, how ever was EXTREMELY disappointed with how the shirts came out, however Harvey seemed to be some what accommodating to him ( So i still had no fear). Eventually ( 20 mins later) Harvey turned to talk to me ( and my boyfriend) I showed him the design I wanted the first thing he said was " Impossible You need a better picture" Then went on to say he can do it on a white shirt not black ( like i wanted), while still trying to consult with Harvey he cut me and my boyfriend us and merely shoved us to the side to talk to more customers. While trying to seek his attention again and finish he convo we once started, he started taking the order of another customer who just walked it. I found Harvey to be somewhat unprofessional. My boyfriend and I decided to leave and Harvey had no sympathy he let us walk out not worrying about our business.. Could this had been a racial thing? I had 2 t-shirts that I needed to get words screen printed on. The first was a t-shirt I had bought online with a graphic on the front that needed words added below it. The second was a plain tan t-shirt that I bought from T-Shirt Express and they added words to it as well. Both came back brilliantly & perfectly and was exactly what I was looking for. I liked that they had a graphic designer in-house who sent me the art for approval prior to printing. I didn't really like how expensive it was - $85 when it was all said and done. But I get it, they're in the order of bulk business and my order was for two 1-offs. And I was too lazy at that point to go try & find something online. The kicker was that I had a shirt that had to have something added to it, which seemed to be the tricky part for places when I called around and asked. If I need something done again I probably will see if I can do it online first but if not then I'll be back here... they really did come out great-looking! read more

I'm kind of gagging giving this place three stars, but they do do good work and will give you a quick turn-around if needed. So for the quality of their work, it's definitely five stars, but for customer service (see below) one star. However: The owner is one nasty piece of work, and the staff take their cue from him. You will never get a smile or a thank you from anyone in that cramped, dark basement office. They will tell you if there is a problem with your art, but give no clue as to how to correct it. We called T-Shirt Express before Noon EST on a Thursday with a fire drill; 200 tee shirts to a hotel several blocks away from his shop in 3 hours or less. They pulled it off in 2 hours. There is no store front, business owners should probably take the photo of the store front down it's a little misleading. Apparently they have an office in the building but even the door man told me that the business closed down, but when we called they said they have an office but they don't take walk-in. How does your own door man not know where your business is located? My rating is not on their quality of work because I was unable to go to the "store" and see some samples of their work. Tried that and the site was not able to generate a quote as there is a 6 piece min requirement in order to use that function. You would think the owner would know this. T-Shirt Express isn't exactly Express anymore. As a small business owner in retail, I've been learning some pretty good lessons in customer service lately. One of the lessons I learned came from an experience working with T-Shirt Express. They are a good shop to get a small job done reasonably quick. They've been around long enough to get it right. However, if you're a return customer who brings referrals as well- T-Shirt Express treats you no differently and the lesson I learned was what not to expect of paying customers: If you are a budding t-shirt entrepreneur or a customer with a large job, T-Shirt Express is a big maybe. They can be stretched thin and run the risk of not delivering on time. For example: When a particular small job of mine (two dozen shirts) was incorrectly printed and delivered late the first time, then reprinted and delivered late the second time I had to say something and look for some compensation i.e. refund or discount of sorts. They refused refund and a discount would work if it made me feel comfortable doing business with them. But after explaining my frustration that I called and emailed several times looking for my job I was met with a defensive and stubborn owner. I was told that I did not call back enough! That if I needed something urgently I should be more aggressive calling back. Now does this make sense to anyone? T-Shirt Express can't return my calls/emails over a three business day period and I'm told I have to contact them more than the several times than I already have? Do customers in restaurants go ask the cook when their food is going to be ready? To add insult to injury I'm told they're so busy with work they've had to turn down business - so I take it, my dispute and any new business from me or the referrals I send there don't really matter, they have too much on their plate already? Just be warned that T-Shirt Express is a shop built for one off jobs, not repeat customers or large jobs - they are very nice people working there. But the lack of detail and customer service is a product of you get what you pay for. Mistakes can happen and inadequate people can work a job but when a customer is treated unprofessionally or unfairly - there couldn't be faster way to lose business. There is a reason the business operates out of a crammed basement on the UWS, the owner likes it that way. read more

Allright, here goes the bad review. I called to order 4 t-shirts for a tv-show scheduled for Tuesday - the owner said "yes we can do it for Monday". By email the communication was clear and sharp. I check in on Monday morning but no response. I call around 2pm to know at what time I could go pick up the t-shirts but the guy who answered the phone said there was no order and I should call the owner (Harvey) who was off that day. I ask him to have the owner call me back with good news but he calls me back saying "Harvey told me to tell you to call him (?!?). I call the owner (seems like a lot of calls to make since I am the customer.....) and he says "I`m sorry I don't even know who this is, I`m driving the truck". Seriously? Just reminding you - the order was due today. simple. He proceeds to tell me to call back the next day (Tuesday morning) so he could look into the order and he could do nothing to help me in that moment cause he was driving his truck. If this was my business, I would call my office and proceed to expedite the order right away since I obviously forgot. Anyway, called another company and the t-shirts were ready in 2 hours. Problem fixed. But this review is worth 1 star for risking of compromising my business by not providing a service you agreed and signed up for. read more
