I reached out to the Gifted team via Yelp literally one day before our office's St. Patrick's Day party on 3/16 for a custom t-shirt. They responded pretty quickly, within the hour. I described via e-mail what I wanted (color, text, font, etc). They got back to me with details, including a price quote (which was totally reasonable for a last-minute request) and a proof image of the text in the exact font that I needed. Went in here yesterday at 6 pm. Tom was able to help me with my custom shirt for my partner/ baby. I am due the 1st of Jan and I wanted this to be a surprise since baby can come any day now. Tom was supper accommodating, and personable. Prices in this shop are reasonable as well. And they are true. My design was a bit detailed and it printed very well on the onzie and t-shirt. I will be back, or maybe my partner will since I raved about how quick, easy and chill Tom was... and he likes anime( my partner is a huge fan) he was like well maybe I have to go meet him, and get another t-shirt. Came here for a last minute white elephant gift project for my office. After a grueling weekend of research and emailing 10 different custom printing places that either was too expensive or required a minimum order of more than 1 item, I was so relieved to find this place. I wanted to print my company's group photo on a tote bag. I emailed Gifted and they were very responsive. Best of all, they had it done on the same day. Don't trust them. Sent them designs and upfront payment for an apron and a hat on a Thursday and they said they didn't have either in stock (after saying they had them over the phone and accepting my payment) and that I had to wait til monday to pick it up. Fine, not a problem. I go there monday to pick up my stuff and it's nowhere to be found. "The other guy forgot to print it". Great. They also didn't have a hat in stock. I had to run and get a hat for them to print on. Then Tom decided to barter with me for the refund, instead of giving me my $25 back (because I got the hat for them) and instead gives me back $20. I had a mixed experience with Gifted. On the one hand, they created the shirts I wanted for my brother's bachelor party within a day (and they turned out well!) On the other hand, they initially quoted me $50/shirt for some simple lettering, and I had to negotiate it all the way down to $20/shirt (I took off a few things from the job to help the process). But the biggest reason I'm giving a negative review was for one reason... Tom. There are a bunch of different guys working, and they all have access to the email. So, service level varies quite a bit. I originally called like their website says they prefer, but I was told it was better to email bc the guy wasn't in the office. Ok, email it is. The first guy I got a reply from was Josh, and he was the one who handled the negotiation process. I have him all the details for my shirts and where I needed them delivered to. We agreed on a price and I sent payment over PayPal. He then said another guy would handle my order the next day. Cool, no problem. The next day a new guy named Tom emailed saying the shirts were done and that I could pick them up anytime. I said I was quoted a price that included delivery. He replied saying they don't do delivery, to which I asked why the website says "delivery anywhere within Manhattan" and let him know it was part of my original quote. Helpful Tom replies, "Sorry man. The ball is in your court. The shirts are done. I had nothing to do with the cost. I just got in here today. If you would like them. Send an uber." Wow, great customer service right? Then he adds on, "Bro, It's busy here today. I helped you with your shirts, that's all I can do... Good luck with the ball and chain (heart symbol)". So, like I said, mixed experience. Just hope you don't get Tom bc he's kind of an unhelpful jerk. If you do, wait a day or go elsewhere. I ended up just hiring a courier service to pick up and deliver. G ets you custom shirts fairly fast. I f you get Tom, hope for the best. F riendly NYC attitude from Tom. T om is the worst. But Josh is cool. E mail response is pretty fast. D on't get too complicated with your design or you'll pay up. read more

I'm going to move into the apartment upstairs just so I can visit Gifted daily. What a great shop. The young gentleman from Georgia who helped my friend and me couldn't have been kinder and more patient to my friend and me as we decided what to get. And despite him being involved in a large order, he still took the time to explain things to us and didn't act rushed or impolite whatsoever. What originally started as one shirt ended up being four. I joked that my credit card company was going to call and ask me what the hell is going on. But the process is just so neat and everything turned out so great. I definitely recommend using Gifted to create your own custom shirts and I'm sure my buddy and I will be back next time I visit for another round of shirts. read more

So I've been a customer here for at least 7 years. Dropping by maybe a 2-3 times a year to get an occasional funny shirt done. Whoever is working is normally really nice and helpful. This past summer I came in 2 days before my birthday to have a shirt made. The file I emailed them wasn't the best resolution but the guy working that day was super nice and worked his magic to make it happen. I was really pleased with the outcome except when I got home the design was slightly too large and it was stretching when I put it on. I knew that that was my problem because I had told him the size was fine. I went back the next day to get another shirt done of the same design but smaller. There was a different guy working and he was no where near as helpful. All he kept saying was the design wasn't going to come out good. I explained how the guy that worked the day before was able to fix it. He said all he could do was print what he was sent. I agreed and figured I'd touch up the shirt on my own at home. Fast forward to today when I went in and it was the same guy that was hard to work with. I explained that all I wanted was 3 straight lines down the side of my shirt under the armpit. He said "we can only work off of an image sent to us". So I sarcastically said "so if I google "straight line" and send that to you, you'll be able to print it?. He (possibly realizing he was being ridiculous) said "uh yeah". He then said that because I wanted it printed on pants that he wouldn't be able to do It because their max print area is 15 inches, which I understand. I said "I'm okay with doing multiple pressings" to which he replied "it might not come out even". It was then that I realized this guy wasn't about solutions he was just about problems. I honestly love this place and have recommended multiple friends. I will most likely go again in the future but if I walk in and see he's working I'll walk out. I don't know this guys name but he's a total a$$hole. I don't believe that the customer is always right but I believe in working with the customer. And this guy wasn't about that. Hope he either changes his attitude or they change staff. I recommend Gifted, except when this guy is working. read more

I never yelp anything but have to give a shoutout to Gifted. I'm a bit of a procrastinator, and was leaving for a Bachelor party on a Thursday that I put together as the best man. On Wednesday, day of, I emailed and called gifted to see if they could make 19 tank tops for the crew with my best friends stupid face on it. Without hesitation and a speedy response they were able to accommodate me for the shirts at an affordable price. The tank top quality was good, and the picture was clear on the tank. After a wash it really doesn't last, but was still a perfect and quick, last minute decision in an overall successful trip. Anyway if you are a procrastinator like myself Gifted has your back. I went here over the summer and most recently during February. Josh was super patient and helpful! I needed to have a tiny bear shirt done and a regular t-shirt done for my boyfriend. Both came out amazing and Josh is super friendly and personable. You feel like he really, wants you to leave happy with your print. I would highly recommend this print shop! I needed some letters put on a charity shirt for a marathon I was running. It took around 15 minutes and cost $13 ($5 + $2 a letter) to get MATT put on the shirt. The shirt looked good and the letters held up through the marathon. I was worried because the running tops are synthetic and I've head of issues with burning and melting but they had no issues. I would have no hesitations about going back for my next shirt. read more

Finally, I made it to the store...Gifted. This is a really cool store in the West Village you can go there and get your t-shirts customized and received a very good customer service. Ivan is such a great guy, he's a very good listener and he also gives the best service. First of, I went there to get a tshirt customized few months ago. I brought my own t-shirt the price was very reasonable. I just went back today w/another shirt but before I've done so I was checking out prices w/different stores in the area. One of them asked me for $30 to get a pic on my t-shirt. I went back to Gifted the price was only $15 w/my blank t=shirt.... Not only that I saved some money but then again Ivan's customer service skills and friendlyness were very impressive. Been going to Gifted for years for custom tees and although they nickel and dime you for the lettering/design, I put up with it because they are usually very friendly and do quality service... however today... wow... I must have unfortunately gotten the dickhead "Tom" a previous reviewer mentioned. I fought traffic for an hour to get to Gifted before they closed and I walked in at 6:45pm today (they close at 7) sweaty and out of breath. Dude behind the counter started shaking his head "no" before I even got a sentence out. I say, "Hi, I just need one t-shirt. It's super easy... just an iron on and I can email you the jpeg right now from my phone." The dude replies in a condescending tone, "well seeing as you walked in ... (pauses to look at computer screen) 10 mins before we close... I won't have time to get to you." He then looked down at whatever he was doing giving me no further acknowledgment. Charm blossom, right? I say, well i left right when I got off of work in Harlem and booked it here as fast as I could... I made it before you closed and the t-shirt I need would literally take you 2 mins... can you please just help me out?" He rolled his eyes and said, "There are orders before you... when would you like to pick the shirt up?" I said, "every time I've come here before, they just make the shirt while I wait..." Dude looks down at whatever he was doing before and says, "you can pick up your shirt at 1pm tomorrow". Dude, Tom or whatever your name is... I get it. You have a shitty job and you probably aren't feeling appreciated... or your boyfriend just dumped you... I dont know... whatever is eating you... don't take it out on paying customers! Try and have a touch of empathy when someone goes out of their way to buy your overpriced goods... perhaps if the owner is reading this... a staff development on how to treat a customer is In order? Not the most organized business, but delivered in the end. My order was pretty easy, just a screen print of a word on the front of the shirt-nothing crazy. I called originally to ask for a quote, the person on the phone told me to send an email. I told him it was for pick up same day and he said it was fine, but to email to get a quote, so I did. No response. Hours later, I called back and the person goes and checks email to give me the quote over the phone. $15 for the American Apparel t-shirt and $1 for each letter to be screen printed. Not sure why there was such a roundabout way to get that quoted. I agree to the price, provided payment and again expressed that the order was for same day. I picked out color and font and all of that, and agreed on a time for me to come pick it up. I arrived at that time, and the person there (who is the same person on the phone) seemed to not know anything about my order. We go through all the details again, and he got started on the shirt. Luckily, it only took about 10 mins, but I was still annoyed I went through all the trouble to only show up like this was a walk in order. Great to know this shop is an option, and I'll definitely come back for future needs, but can't say I enjoyed doing business with them. read more

Arrogant and diabolical customer service I picked up a t-shirt with a photo printed just before the store closed when I got home I saw that it wasn't close to being straight. When I took it back the arrogant employee told me that he hadn't performed the print job. When I said that I wasn't calling out any employee and that I just wanted what I ordered printed straight he had the audacity to tell me that he would give me a couple of dollars off a reprint. I was here a few weeks ago. I needed two shirts made for an event the next day, but I couldn't get to Gifted until after 6 pm (they close at 7 pm); Ivan, the sales associate/t-shirt maker extraordinaire, was busy helping a mom and her kids with shirts, but assured me that my shirts would get made, even if it was after closing. When it was my turn, Ivan was patient as I modified the design. He was very careful about the placement of the letters, which I greatly appreciated. He was also really funny! He kept me laughing with tons of jokes as he made my shirts - what a cool guy! My shirts came out perfectly! The next day, everyone was asking where our shirts came from! What a fantastic find! The worker wrote all the details down BUT when I picked the jerseys up, lettering was in black! Sorely disappointed, I was told by the worker who did it there was no way to fix it. Could not recommend this place more. Arrived 30 mins before closing and was well received. The friendly guy working there made sure I got exactly what I wanted, which was my name on my marathon day race shirt. He asked about everything from the font, to the color, exact placement etc. and got it exactly right. They only charge $2 per 2" letter which isn't bad at all. The best part of all was that he printed the letters on right before my eyes and I walked out the door after about 10 mins after having gotten there. Awesome experience overall. The owner is beyond rude. I called before coming in and was assured over the phone they would be able to make 12 shirts for me for a bachlorette party. When I arrived to Gifted they informed me they were out of pink paper (which they use for the font) so decided I would go with another color and again he assured me he could have them done within 4 days. All of the sudden he says " sorry, I cannot do the shirts. I don't have time". Extremely unfriendly and I am not sure how they are still in business.Seems like the owners opened this shop for their dead beat son to have a job. Hours are 1PM-7PM, what a joke! From looking at their site, I was promised two things: 1) prompt, quality service; and 2) jokes. Ivan delivered on both fronts. He was meticulous with the details and kept me laughing the whole time. First off the door was locked...me and two others were trying to get in. He finally opened it and used shitty hand motions to rush us in. Said he's keeping the door locked because of the toxic stench of the new bike path. Asked me what I wanted on a shirt. And I said I was making another shirt for your meet and am ready to peruse fonts etc. He goes..."No. Pick from the fonts on the wall or email a jpeg before you come here" (there are like five terrible fonts on the wall) ...and I go..."oh...but I've come here often and always get to design my shirt with the fella on the computer" And he's like "Well it's not going to work that way with me. Not gonna happen. You're not touching my computer." And goes to the next customer..."what would you like on a t shirt?" And skipped me. I just sat there dumbfounded. And he's like "Come back with a jpeg of what you want or email one" And I was like..."I don't have a list of fonts...I usually just use the drop down menu on the laptop and pick it out with a quickness and also need to bring up some barbells on google. I've gotten the same dude every time for two years and this is how we do it" And he described the other dude and was like "Yeah well he doesn't work here anymore.
