Gem world is just what it sounds like, gems - rocks - beads - if it's a stone or gem you will likely find it here. This place is Disneyland for us rock nerds. The store is on overload and every time I walk in here I am completely overwhelmed in the best way. This store is gigantic and has rows upon rows of inventory. I was in the store for about an hour because there is just so much to see and experience. This store is pretty cool because it's famous. While I was wandering around I heard so many people share where they were from and people come here from all across the states. The prices here are extremely reasonable and I'll never buy from anywhere else. The stones and gems are real but they get them from what looks like to be overseas so they are able to charge them at such a reasonable rate. For example I bought two giant pink geode candle holders that very well would have cost me about $40 each at Anthropologie. Here they were $4 each! Come on! Everyone that shops here has their carts filled to the brim because you'll just never experience another place like it. People who are wholesalers shop here as well and up charge their product at other stores. Think about the last time you went into a tarot store or stone shop and the prices were pretty high, I feel confident to say they get some products from here given the prices so better to just come here to the source. The staff here are so freaking friendly and nice. 5 stars for attentiveness, politeness and helpfulness. Everyone that works here is so nice and welcoming. This store is a definitely a must stop shop if you are passing through into AZ or CA. Just regroup so you don't get overloaded with all of the "stuff" and once you get past that you'll be shocked how much you can find and at a great price.

Lots of great deals too-the prices are very reasonable and their clearance items are also well priced. So many gorgeous stone, gem, crystal and artisan pieces. Every time we pass through Quartzite I make a point to come here and it doesn't disappoint. If you're passing through Quartzite you should definitely make a point to stop by and look around.

I found Main Trading Post, attached to Outback Pizza, I was instantly intrigued by the enormous "Worlds Largest Belt Buckle" hanging out front, along with some cool wood carvings, and a bear in the window with an amazing crystal necklace hanging from its neck. I think I may have found what I'm looking for! Upon entering, I was greeted by Jim. He was super helpful and answered any questions I had while there. I was able to take my time and take in all the different and unique items on offer. From native jewelry, bows and arrows, knives, crystal jewelry galore, moccasins, beaded animals, lots of beautiful items and great selection for gifting! In the glass cases there were many items that were real silver, and each had a sign stating they were 50% off their sticker price. I ended up getting several rings, a beautiful beaded hummingbird to hang in my car, and some cute little Knick knacks for my toddlers, really happy I stopped in this store! I will definitely be back when I pass through Quartzite again. Main Trading Post is definitely worth a visit if you want a good deal, and a unique piece for yourself or a loved one.

This is definitely my favorite rock show! It totally rocks! And there aren't even any bands. Just…read morerocks. It's gritty and real, far less commercialized than gem shows you typically find at fairgrounds. A large majority of the vendors here are true rockhounds, who have a passion for what they do. Many of these guys are the ones that found the rocks they are selling. So you will find much more raw material here, bulk rock, and other wholesale-type deals. There are giant amethyst stalagmites, barrels of agates, large quartz crystals, fossils, and every kind of stone you can imagine. Since the people are real and own the stuff they are selling, the prices can be negotiable, too. So if you like to haggle, haggle away. Especially if you are buying large amounts of stuff. The show is also huge, and it's unlikely that you could finish in one day. I know there's no way I could, and didn't when I passed by even though I wished for more time. Maybe it's because I have always marvelled at the amazing number of permutations that nature creates with what is essentially, dirt. Millions of years in the ground cooking and bam, awesome crystals, intricate patterns, beautiful colors. I only made it through about one third of the show in two hours. Overall, if you are up for an adventure and looking for something fun to do, the Desert Gardens Rock, Gem, and Mineral Show will definitely be worth the trip. Five stars all the way.

Dale's rock, gem, and fossil shop has been a hidden teasure to me for the last 10 years that I have…read morebeen going to the Imperial Valley basin. But not any more. If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop by Dale's shop. What makes Dale's shop cool besides Dale being a nice person is that it is on the road to the Imperial Valley sand dunes (Glamis) if you are coming in from highway 10. This same road is also the way you could be driving to Quartzite from San Diego. Also this shop is near the Opal Hill fire agate mine and Hauser Geoge beds. My wife and I were celebrating our 12 wedding anniversary in true "rock hound" style and happened upon Dale's shop on a Sunday. There was an open sign facing the main street and on open gate. Dale gave us a nice welcome and is very informative about local rock, gems, and fossils and also local area's for collecting. The prices are very fair there. When we were leaving Dale pointed out his cactus garden that was in bloom which was nice.
