On a work trip to Quartzite, I had a day off to go adventure and see what cool things I could find…read more A lovely local pointed me in the direction of the Main Street, since I was looking for some cool crystals or even some native jewelry. I found Main Trading Post, attached to Outback Pizza, I was instantly intrigued by the enormous "Worlds Largest Belt Buckle" hanging out front, along with some cool wood carvings, and a bear in the window with an amazing crystal necklace hanging from its neck. I think I may have found what I'm looking for! Upon entering, I was greeted by Jim. He was super helpful and answered any questions I had while there. I was able to take my time and take in all the different and unique items on offer. From native jewelry, bows and arrows, knives, crystal jewelry galore, moccasins, beaded animals, lots of beautiful items and great selection for gifting! In the glass cases there were many items that were real silver, and each had a sign stating they were 50% off their sticker price. I ended up getting several rings, a beautiful beaded hummingbird to hang in my car, and some cute little Knick knacks for my toddlers, really happy I stopped in this store! I will definitely be back when I pass through Quartzite again. Main Trading Post is definitely worth a visit if you want a good deal, and a unique piece for yourself or a loved one.

This is definitely my favorite rock show! It totally rocks! And there aren't even any bands. Just…read morerocks. It's gritty and real, far less commercialized than gem shows you typically find at fairgrounds. A large majority of the vendors here are true rockhounds, who have a passion for what they do. Many of these guys are the ones that found the rocks they are selling. So you will find much more raw material here, bulk rock, and other wholesale-type deals. There are giant amethyst stalagmites, barrels of agates, large quartz crystals, fossils, and every kind of stone you can imagine. Since the people are real and own the stuff they are selling, the prices can be negotiable, too. So if you like to haggle, haggle away. Especially if you are buying large amounts of stuff. The show is also huge, and it's unlikely that you could finish in one day. I know there's no way I could, and didn't when I passed by even though I wished for more time. Maybe it's because I have always marvelled at the amazing number of permutations that nature creates with what is essentially, dirt. Millions of years in the ground cooking and bam, awesome crystals, intricate patterns, beautiful colors. I only made it through about one third of the show in two hours. Overall, if you are up for an adventure and looking for something fun to do, the Desert Gardens Rock, Gem, and Mineral Show will definitely be worth the trip. Five stars all the way.

Unfulfilled Promises and Missed Opportunities…read more As a Yelper, I strive to give local businesses every opportunity to shine, especially those with a boutique charm and a promise of personal service. Unfortunately, after three visits to LA Masters of Fine Jewelers in Temecula, I'm left disheartened by a sharp contrast in experience and a lack of basic follow-through. My first visit was lovely. I stopped in out of curiosity, was greeted warmly, and enjoyed browsing their jewelry. No pressure, just genuine enthusiasm and hospitality. It left a positive impression and made me bookmark them for the future. Fast forward to my second visit, now newly engaged and eager to support a local jeweler with a custom wedding band for my fiancé. Again, I was welcomed kindly and talked through the customization process in detail. I was advised to return with my fiancé to confirm sizing, metal, and width. Everything felt thoughtful and promising. However, my third visit, which should've been the most exciting and collaborative, was a disappointment. While we were initially greeted pleasantly, the energy shifted abruptly when I mentioned having spoken with a different associate the day prior. The associate assisting us redirected us to the register and openly discussed passing the commission to the original associate, in front of us. The handoff was awkward and impersonal. Despite that, we provided all the necessary details for our custom ring: sizing, specs, and inspiration images. We were told we'd receive our CAD drawing within 4 days (by 7/23) to review before moving forward. It has now been 12 days, and we've heard nothing. No call. No email. No CAD drawing. No follow-up of any kind. The irony? That very same day, we visited another local jeweler who, unprompted, expressed surprise that LA Masters was still in business due to their history of poor follow-through. At the time, I dismissed that as unprofessional gossip, but sadly, I experienced exactly what she described. We were genuinely ready to move forward with a purchase. But the lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic courtesy speaks volumes. I won't chase a business to give them my money, especially for something as sentimental and significant as a wedding ring. I wanted to support you, LA Masters. But you made it clear I'm better off going elsewhere.
