Significant concerns about the work completed by Schwabees…read more Perhaps an indication of what was to come, I came home one day to find the pieces of my old fence sloppily strewn across a newly landscaped lawn. The other company working on my land stacked these pieces carefully in the street for hauling. The crew doesn't use tools for measuring, cutting or alignment. Cuts look like they were made with a butter knife. Heights were unmeasured and uneven. Basic fence construction tenets (adding a cross bar to prevent bowing) were not followed. The two gates drag on the ground. Odd placements of random pieces of wood gave a haphazard look to the work. While the individual people are pleasant, the work is not professionally done. Of most concern, the owners are either unaware or unconcerned about this. Ultimately, it is their responsibility to oversee the work, coach and develop their employees. The owners were on site for the work, so again, very disturbing that they would accept the quality as being passable. After multiple requests to right the situation, I was told the fence is done and any further work would be at my cost. My experience mirrors other reviews posted about Schwabees. I ended up paying another company to fix the work. I am very pleased with the corrections the other company was able to make and can now put this (expensive) chapter behind me. Schwabee's was unimpressive on all counts.

Initially, we'd planned a big project but scaled it back to fit our budget, and they were so accommodating with re-bidding and adjusting the scope. They tackled several paver landings for us, handled electrical work that was damaged during digging (my fault), and trenched about 70-80 feet to install a spigot at the back of the property. They also replaced a large amount of mulch--about 13 cubic yards--and did a top-notch job. What really impressed us was how adaptable they were. Mid-project, we decided we wanted the entire front yard torn out and resodded. They had a crew out the next day, removed the old sod, brought in topsoil, tilled it, and laid the new sod--all on short notice. They even trimmed a tree outside the original plan and left the property immaculate afterward. If you're looking for a responsive, flexible, and top-quality crew that delivers exactly what they promise--and fast--this team is it. We couldn't be happier with the results!

I had multiple contractors come out to give us a bid. When Dillman came to give a bid he took extra time to talk with me and make sure he knew exactly what we wanted. During this process it was discovered that what I wanted wasn't in the budget but he gave me options that would accomplish my curb appeal goals while addressing the structural problems. And he never made me feel bad for having a budget. He wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive. His price was fair. We had a…read morefair amount of river rock we wanted removed from the side of our yard, and given the fantastic job he did before we wanted to go with Dave again. Nearly five month lead time and a crew was sent out to dig it - by hand - in nearly 100 degree heat in the middle of August. They did the best they could given the temperature and lack of oversight, but in the end the job was left 90% completed. Gatorades and freezer pops couldn't have saved them. Dave came to the door seemingly in a hurry, asked for the check and left, not checking up on the work his crew did (who also left without saying anything to us). I've already hand-dug and hauled four dump-carts full of rock with, I'm estimating, maybe four more to go. I'm happy I didn't have to do the whole thing so am grateful for that, but the stark contrast between the first job and the second had our necks feeling like we got whiplash. What happened? It's great that Glacier View has blown up, meaning more work for his crew, and it's likely that we're such small potatoes now it's barely worth scheduling us, but it sucks to be treated as an afterthought. Maybe they aren't great for repeat business. {edit}: Dave reached out offering to finish the job, and while I'm admittedly still a bit sour over the extra work I do respect how he tried to make it right. More importantly I'm satisfied with the acknowledgment of the lack of communication and a reassurance of improvement moving forward: small job or large.
