I recently went to TJ Maxx, which is an easy way to browse the world's market of goods locally. For those of you uninitiated, TJ Maxx finds products that didn't find a buyer in all sorts of international and national markets, buys them for a better price, and sells them. I've found obscure Italian-purse-designer brand purses for sale at a more local version of their price, and on a clearance markdown or two. However, my most recent trip was to find shiny bags as I am a big fan.
The TJ Maxx was wide open under the humble awning as the entrance to the store. The aisles were neatly organized, and chock full of a variety in each department they stocked. To my best recollection, from clockwise to the left of the entrance to the right with the cashier line, I found Luggage, Purses, Cosmetics, Jewelery, Perfumes, Shoes. After I found some shiny bags (ha!), the rest were something like: Bedding, Cookwares, Bakeware, Silverware, Spices, Stationery; maybe Shaving and Technology? Followed by Pet Toys and Goods and other sections. I found Children's Books, and additional Candies outside the spice section up front.
If you've never been to a TJ Maxx or Marshalls, visiting this TJ Maxx beside Stop and Shop is a wonderful example of the brand and the type of store. I've found many products in the past that have lasted me years, like colanders, soap with dispensers, salad spinners, art supplies, and so on. TJX also donates to local communities, like Head Start programs. For a local brand, they deserve worldwide recognition for their work. I, also, deserve a shiny bag budget. read more
