I had a very uncomfortable and upsetting experience at the Target in Milltown, NJ…read more On August 9, 2026, I was shopping with my spouse. At approximately 12:32 PM, I noticed a young security employee wearing a yellow jacket following and monitoring us while we were shopping. We paid for our items at self-checkout at approximately 12:42 PM. When we were leaving, the same security employee stopped us and asked to see our receipt. What bothered me the most was that I personally observed other customers leaving immediately before and after us who were not stopped or asked to show their receipts. This left me questioning why my spouse and I were specifically selected. I felt singled out, embarrassed, harassed, and discriminated against. I understand that stores have loss-prevention procedures, but those procedures should be applied fairly and consistently. I contacted Target Guest Relations afterward to report the incident. I was told that my complaint would be documented, but the representative did not ask me for important information such as the exact date and time of the incident, a description of the security employee, or other details, and I was not provided with a case/reference number. I hope Target takes this seriously, reviews the surveillance footage from approximately 12:30-12:45 PM, and determines why we were treated differently from other customers leaving the store.

They've really changed their products and obviously their prices. They added furniture in the last 10 yrs and upped their patio furniture also. The one thing I liked about Big Lots was their prices and their ability to have odd ball and weird stuff. Now it seems they are competing with other stores. Their prices are higher than Walmart. They took out the arts and craft sections for kids. I think it was a better store when it was a Mish mosh of random stuff for less. Now it's just like any other store. They do have cute and nice things but you can find them cheaper elsewhere. I was really bummed out.

There's also a Dollar Tree. Then, if you cross the street, there is Applebee's which is the only dining option in this shopping center, and Blinds to Go. Oh, there's also a new store called Doors Outlet. Then if you drive another minute, there's another shopping center that is the same name, where there is Acme, Hallmark, Buy Rite, and a Cleaners called Margaret. Associate finally brings the orders out and it's one family's single order. Where they do that at? A family who parked beside me and went in to shop is now back at their car with their items. The person on the other side of me who was waiting before I got here left. Yikes! The young person who eventually brought my items (different than the person I mentioned before) was very nice and said they were "kinda" working solo. So the wait times are somewhat understandable on a holiday weekend. As for the in-store experience, it's pretty solid. This location always has stuff that Manville and North Brunswick locations are out of - hence why I was here today. It also is less crowded and noisy than those older stores. Carside gets a 2 at best for the wait times and strange system. In store gets a 3.5. I'll extend grace and give a 3 with the caveat to forgo curbside and only shop in store.
