His work is mediocre at best and his behavior makes him a nightmare to work with. When he picked up my furniture, he had a full blown tantrum in the street, screaming and hollering and causing a scene for all of my neighbors to hear and see because he had never heard of homes on a "walk" and he couldn't find my house. He had a meltdown when I couldn't go to his shop with less than 24 hours notice. He lost one drawer pull from my antique dresser, and refused to apologize or take accountability, claiming that the pull wasn't on the dresser when he picked it up, despite me sending photos of the dresser prior to his possession of them. Even at furniture delivery, he placed three heavy table leaves on my brand new, $3000 crushed velvet sofa, leaving scratches in the fabric. When I told him I would pay him after I had this repaired he flipped out and threatened to steal my furniture. His exorbitant prices do not reflect craftsmanship. While a skilled refinisher can sand and evenly stain a dresser in however many hours, it will take Frank twice as long, and he will charge based on time. He makes up excuses for why certain repairs are "not possible," when the reality is that he isn't capable of certain repairs. See photos of two dressers where it is clear they are unevenly stained across the different drawers. The door in the center of the long dresser is a completely different color. He did not have the door attached until after delivery so I did not see how different the color is. He is condescending and brash, and the most unprofessional person I've ever had the displeasure of working with. Avoid at *all costs*

I can't say enough positive things about Tony, his work and his business practices. He and his team…read morehave worked on my house for the past 20 years from our original whole house renovation to upgrades and updates as needed. He built out a full basement for us which included bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, utility room, closets and even a real cedar closet with actual cedar planks including the ceiling. He has replaced every window in the house with Andersen windows and even added French doors, sliding doors and a box window. He changed every door in the house to solid six panel doors and assisted in the family room and office built in by installing them. He build the most incredible custom walk in closet converting a bedroom into a spectacular use of space. He has renovated 3 bathrooms and kept them updated as needed most recently replacing a honed marble threshold in the shower and reinstalling the custom glass doors. The most recent improvement was the replacement of our gas water heaters since the old ones were starting to leak. He not only upgraded what we had, had the new ones delivered and installed all in one day in order to get us back up and running with little inconvenience. He has installed whole house water filtration, added instant hot and a garbage disposal making sure we have all the modern conveniences a home should have. He treats our home as if it is his own. On a personal note he has seen my children grow up and we have seen his son join his business and grow and learn from the best. Tony and the Functional Spaces team worked with me to completely gut and renovate an entire house…read more We removed and installed new walls, steel beams were installed, 3 complete bathroom were redone, a full kitchen renovation, a bedroom was turned into the main walk in closet with custom built ins, new AC, new heated engineered wood floors, a full redo of the electrical system and lighting plan for the entire house, new staircase, windows and siding plus so much more was done to make this home stunning! The team worked seamlessly with the architect and the inspectors to make sure the permits were all in place. Tony was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was patient in answering my numerous questions and concerns along the way. Gus (the main carpenter) was incredible in installing custom built in shelves in various areas. He is a true artist!! The whole team of guys were pleasant and knowledgeable and fun to work with. I actually missed seeing them everyday when the house was complete! From the beginning of the project, D made every effort to help conceptualize my exact vision and came up with a great design plan to move forward with. The advice that she gave regarding my oversize medicine cabinet really helped to pull my bathroom together and I wouldn't have considered it had not been for her. I have had less than amazing experiences with contractors in the past, specifically where certain questions or follow-ups were treated like a nuisance. Jay and his crew understood that my home is my sanctuary and also my investment. Any concerns or questions that came along as we worked through my renovation were always welcome and treated with respect. Answers were thorough and the approach to every detail of the project was handled with amazingly specific care - including keeping the work space and the common areas outside of the space very clean at the end of each work day. Jay and I collaborated very well while trying to narrow down tile choices for my bathroom and the effort he made to ensure we got exactly what I wanted (tile pattern, finish, and size) was beyond commendable. We agreed on the other design elements in the room, after coupling my needs with his expert advice. I even decided to switch one of my shower choices after considering his advice. Once we were clear on what needed to go where, the team went to work and the work was amazing! I also used the services of D&J for a project in my mom's kitchen two years ago and the work done there was show-stopping as well.
