Hush puppies have no flavor but their baked beans, coleslaw and french fries are very good. Whether you're in the mood for catfish or barbecue, High on the Hog is the right place for you. The only drawback is there is no indoor seating, only on the covered patio.

It's a walk up window for orders and they do have a couple of outdoor picnic tables under cover. They don't have a working phone number or shall I say the number on their menu is a fast busy. I ordered their Fried Fish plate, regular size that is suppose to come with 3 pieces of fish, choice of 3 sides, tartar sauce and Texas Toast. I love lemon juice on my seafood, was told they ran out yesterday and still have none. I got back to my hotel room and yes my Togo box has 3 pieces of fish, my three sides, onion rings, potato salad, and coleslaw. No tartar sauce, no Texas toast and 2 packs of ketchup. I tried calling, fast busy. They serve BBQ and many other items. I may give them a second try but I most definitely will check my order before leaving.

It took close to an hour to get food. We waited. Weren't even mad about it. At a point you just decide to wait it out once you're vested. Ya know, You just become ok. The sweet lady at the DT window takes one order at a time, rotates and yells it at the kitchen, takes your money, then waits until your food is ready and gives it to you. Then she waits on the next inside person inside repeating the same process. Back and forth from the counter to the DT. Pretty inefficient method that explains the long wait. There can't be much more economical than this. A half rack of ribs and two sides for $14. What the actual fuck? That is insane for March of 2024! A sandwich, side, and a drink for $7?!?!? Anyway. The bbq "meat" itself was pretty good. I had higher hopes for some good all around BBQ but the sauce just glopped it all up man. I didn't like it all and neither did the bride. Ribs were well cooked. Like I said the sauce was bad, and they were covered in it. It has gel like thing about it. It's sweet and like jelly.... Hard to explain. Beans were fair. White bread. Sandwich was impossible to eat as a sandwich. It just mushed under the weight of the copious amounts of jelly sauce and slaw. She just kind of got it in there with the foil it was in If I came back I would ask for no sauce or at least get it on the side. '24 - 25/100

Stopped in on the way home and were not disappointed! This place is a hidden Bbq gem, you DO want…read moreto eat here. Firstly, the place is immaculately clean. The dining area was clean and there were staff members cleaning the whole time. Decorated with a concrete floor, tin corrugated walls and wooden walls / ceilings it is a nice mixture of neat country chic. Clearly the ladies here rule the roost. The bathrooms are also spotless, they even had a Scentsy warmer in the ladies room - weird door lock though, it took me a moment to figure it out. The food was fantastic! Very happy with the juicy and tender ribs and brisket though they were a bit fatty. Bbq sauces are tomato based with a mesquite smoke, sweetness, very mild vinegar. Coleslaw was to die for. Freshly made with cabbage and carrots, this is mayo based, sweet and heavy on the black pepper. French fries are made of actual potatoes with the skins on, kinda like mini spears, and while they weren't super hot ( maybe they make large batches at a time? ) they had a great flavor. The baked beans have meat ( pork I think? ), onions and green peppers. The sweet tea is perfectly southern, they say it's made with sugar and hot water and then served ice cold. The staff was also super friendly and polite, great service! Will definitely stop back here again when we are in the area. If you are driving and trying to figure out where to eat, come here, you will be pleased.

Wish I could have dined in to take it all in during a busy lunch hour where it seems every local must go for burgers at lunch. I need to try far more then just salads to get a good take on the BBQ. Sucks cutting weight before a big meet!
