Best lunch spot near the Golden Triangle Industrial Park. I stopped here for lunch today while working in the Golden Triangle. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. The facility is nice: a bar and a couple off televisions. Plenty of room to spread out and get caught up on emails or hang out with a group. I ordered the lunch special which was hamburger steak with bbq beans as the side. I was impressed. Doubtful I would go back for dinner just because of the location, but will definitely be back and highly recommend for lunch if you are in the area. read more

Stopped in on the way home and were not disappointed! This place is a hidden Bbq gem, you DO want to eat here. Firstly, the place is immaculately clean. The dining area was clean and there were staff members cleaning the whole time. Decorated with a concrete floor, tin corrugated walls and wooden walls / ceilings it is a nice mixture of neat country chic. Clearly the ladies here rule the roost. The bathrooms are also spotless, they even had a Scentsy warmer in the ladies room - weird door lock though, it took me a moment to figure it out. The food was fantastic! Very happy with the juicy and tender ribs and brisket though they were a bit fatty. Bbq sauces are tomato based with a mesquite smoke, sweetness, very mild vinegar. Coleslaw was to die for. Freshly made with cabbage and carrots, this is mayo based, sweet and heavy on the black pepper. French fries are made of actual potatoes with the skins on, kinda like mini spears, and while they weren't super hot ( maybe they make large batches at a time? ) they had a great flavor. The baked beans have meat ( pork I think? ), onions and green peppers. The sweet tea is perfectly southern, they say it's made with sugar and hot water and then served ice cold. The staff was also super friendly and polite, great service! Will definitely stop back here again when we are in the area. I was on work travel this week and we heard about this place from the locals so we decided to check it out. We got there before the lunch crowd which I heard was a good thing. Place smelled good before we walked in, which was a good sign. Service was pretty quick and the menu had all your good BBQ choices. I ordered a 2 meat platter getting brisket and chicken with coleslaw and tater tots. I have to say the brisket was the best I ever had. Was super tender and moist. The chicken was seasoned really good but was a little dry. Sauces were great as was he coleslaw. I'm disappointed I'll probably never be back. read more

The only problem you will encounter at Bob's is finding a parking place amongst all of the pick-up trucks in the parking lot. The number one clue to a great place to eat lunch is find out where the local workers stop. Stopped for lunch, and had the half brisket and half ribs with fries. I've had Leatha's and Dreamland. I've had ribs from KC and eaten them from the Gristmill in Gruene, TX. Hog heaven in Laurel and Dean's in Stringer are also good - but IMO - Bob Roberts ribs were the best I've had - hands down. As tender as Leatha's - and just the right amount of seasoning. I ate them dry and with the sauce. While the sauce is really - really good - the star of the show is the rib. The brisket was good - as were the fries - but I've had better. But the ribs - good grief! It's a neat place with great food. I would encourage everyone to give it a shot. read more

We had lunch and it was Fabulous! The wings were really good as usual. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Still 5 stars for a BBQ joint in our area, but I was a wee bit inebriated (and quite enthusiastic - hence the all caps) when I wrote my initial review. *cue palm to forehead Anyway... Bob Roberts is definitely still my preferred BBQ joint. It is without a doubt the best BBQ I've ever had in the "Golden Triangle" area (that descriptor always elicits a smug chuckle - sans monocle. It was coined before the internet and any awareness of the world outside of the aforementioned triangle of gold). The ribs vary in quality depending on who cooks them. When "Bob" (I assume that's the owner's name) cooks them they are fall-off-the-bone tender and mostly meat (not fat). When someone else cooks them they're still flavorful but not as tender and more fatty. I'd estimate that Bob cooks them about 60% of the time. The grilled chicken is also great, and I love the potato salad. It's the ranch style which I prefer to the ubiquitous, weird, sweet relish and mustard kind you get everywhere else, including miller high life commercials. I don't like the sauce because I despise sweet barbecue sauces in general. I wish someone would offer a spicy, vinegar-based alternative, but I won't knock off a star for the sauce unless they smother the meat in it without prior authorization. That's an unforgivable sin. I like smoking BBQ. I do it pretty well. I like making BBQ sauce. I've made some good ones. When it comes to BBQ there is nothing easier than smoking pig and making sauce. Brisket, not so easy. That said, it's always a let down to find a random BBQ joint that is just alright. This place was just alright. The pork was grey with little flavor and the sauce was like a generic grocery store bottle. Nice no frills place, clean, friendly enough service, minimal sides. The food is pretty typical of bbq place. Depending on the day of the week, the meat is tender and flavorful - especially the prime rib sandwich - though it could use a little dressing up (it's just a regular, untoasted, unbuttered bun and a slice of prime rib) - the au jus is very tasty. As for the service...unless you are a table full of men, you can forget getting any type of attention from your waitress to refill your glass or ask if the food is good. We had to walk up to the counter to get our own tea refill and to-go container. As for our dining ticket, well we didn't even get one of those. Our group was passing through Columbus around lunch and we searched our smartphones for the names of local restaurants. We all liked BBQ, so it was a unanimous decision with Bob Roberts. We set the directions and headed that way; missing the turn at first, but quickly correcting that. It was 11:00 and they were just opening. I must say just the smell was enough to draw me in. Our orders were quickly taken and I got the BBQ pork plate with baked beans and potato salad. I didn't see the chopped option on the menu. But when I mentioned it to the server, she was instantly agreeable. At first, I thought she might have misunderstood me. But she didn't. It came exactly as I ordered. I don't rate many restaurants. But honestly, you can't get any better than this with BBQ. The smoky flavor was perfect. The sauce was original and distinctive. The baked beans were fully cooked and thick, with a little bit of peppery taste, but not too hot. The potato salad tasted homemade as well, even left the skins on the potatoes.
